anybody else think this guy looks like a stereotype or am I just paranoid?

Maybe a little. All right, yes, a lot. But he's old news now and TBC were younger then. The little chef guy has pretty much faded into obscurity. — It's dot com 23:32, 16 Sep 2005 (UTC)

yea i guess your right

Having lines for eyes and yellow skin makes you a stereotype? Best call the racism police, for that means there are millions of violations clearly in existence... — 64.122.208.51 (Talk | contribs) 20:54, 1 November 2006 (left unsigned)
I don't see how millions of other uses of the stereotype make it better... Loafing 21:15, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

I removed this recent addition from the article:

Sporting a thick, vaguely stereotypical Sinological accent, yellow skin, slitted eyes, and a demeanor shady enough to earn Strong Bad's distrust, he is a caricature of ethnic "Oriental" stereotypes from Western cinema of past and present--ranging from the chef (as implied by his attire) to Fu Manchu.

While I do agree in principle, I'm not sure that we can be absolutely sure that there is more to the little chef guy than just the stereotypical appearance. Personally, I believe there is, but I'd rather give TBC the benefit of the doubt than post such speculations in the article. And I believe that this is all there is to say about this. Yes, there are parallels, but they aren't strong enough to be treated as more than speculation. Loafing 09:32, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't know how to feel. I'm very against stereotyping, but I had to give up several other cartoons due to corrupt networks. I don't want to lose this. --Jnelson09 19:39, 27 February 2007 (UTC)

The nice thing about Homestar Runner with respect to stereotyping is that pretty much all of the characters are raceless and even speciesless. Also, yes, this chef guy has purposefully Asian features, but is he doing things that reflect poorly on Asian people? Furthermore, I'd suggest that this recent toon (KOT's VOQPCS!) indicates that TBC intentionally distanced him from the "Asian chef" stereotype by making him a pizza delivery guy (if there's an "Asian pizza delivery guy" stereotype, I don't know about it). If this character (who has appeared in two toons) is the extent of TBC's racial stereotyping, then I think we're all quite safe from racism in Homestar Runner. Trey56 20:01, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
Don't kid yourself. While Asians as pizza deliverers are not a stereotype, Asians as takeout food deliverers are a less prominent yet significant one. TBC's designation of Little Chef Guy as the former is a subtle play on the latter.

jeff

As is shown in The Kot's (insert a buncha letters here), the little chef's guy's name is jeff. We should change the article name to that. But I'll wait to see your opinion on it. DrPepper42 01:12, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

He actually calles him chef, with a hard ch. — Defender1031*Talk 01:13, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
