What Year It Is

I have always wondered what year it is in the world of HSR. This is the first time that I am aware of that the date was so clearly stated to be the present. The Cheat uses new computers, so we know that Strong Bad uses old ones, but that is the only time before that I am aware of that the year has been hinted at.

As Strong Sad himself says in here, "It's not called TrogdorCon and it's 2005!"

The Longest Short

I think the designation "short" no longer refers to the length of the toon, but to its structure. "Toons" attempt (more or less) to tell a story, whereas "shorts" are more of a "slice-of-life" scene. — It's dot com 16:00, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I think you're right on the money, Dot com. But it also seems like all of the puppet stuff are also in this "short" designation.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 16:18, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Er, don't all the puppet stuffs get their own category? — It's dot com 16:22, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I know, I'm just saying that alot of the puppet stuff are "slices-of-life" is all.--minibaseball.png Bkmlb(talk to me·stuff I did) 16:38, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Senor Cardgage

The pea soup is totally a reference to Senor Cardgage. 66.222.39.60 16:07, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

You're right, man. Though I think it has something from "50K RACEWALKER". The 386 16:07, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

What did you do? It goes to the first headline!

No, it is probably just a reference to the Kings hate of peas. - Lord-Z

Smiling

I don't know about the rest of you, but this is the first time Iv'e really noticed Strong Bad actually "smile". Homestramy20|Talk 19:05, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

He doesn't do it a lot, but (off the top of my head) two fairly recent times he does are in modeling when he's posing for pictures and montage when he's romancing the Wagon Fulla Pancakes. — It's dot com 19:08, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
And don't forget when he makes fun of Coach Z in A Jorb Well Done! - The Chort 19:25, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Yeah, but I mean like, go from frowning to smiling. Unless thats what he was doing in modeling and montage. Homestramy20|Talk 19:14, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
He must have really liked his joke. He hardly ever if ever goes from frowning to smiling like that. — It's dot com
Yeah, which is a bit surprising for Strong Bad, because he should of even noticed that it wasn't a very good joke... Homestramy20|Talk 23:35, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)
He also smiled in the email for kids.---Strongglad

Gothified Dork??

Any idea who Strong Sad was suppose to be? (trogga)

I don't think he was anyone in particular, but rather just wearing a typical costume of that sort. --Der Pepper

He is definitely someone specific, but for the life of me I can't place him. - Dr Haggis - Talk 13:50, 6 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Maybe he was dressed like how someone TBC saw dressed at the DragonCon. Homestramy20|Talk 00:55, 9 Sep 2005 (UTC)

709

Anyone else think The Cheat Mention Booth 709 could be a refrence to Seven of Nine from Star Trek? It'd sure go well with the dorky con tone. -anon

um, anon thats kinda a stretch but that's just me...-User:Timmy!
There's nothing about the booth (which features horns, axes, and swords), other than the first and last digit of the booth number, that suggests Voyager or Seven at all. — It's dot com 22:18, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Booth 709 at Dragoncon was Edhellen Armoury, it sold the referenced items. -steve-o

I thought the same thing at first, but if it's a real booth IT ISN'T a reference. And anyway, 7 of 9 has nothing to do with axes - kyky

new page?????come on, you know you want to!

i think we should create a page for booth 101-user:Timmy!

What for? There's nothing to go on it. The area itself is very nondescript. It's a table. All of the action occurs in the transcript. What else could be said? At least with Balding Man's Living Room, there's a chance we'll see it again. — It's dot com 22:25, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

but we made a page for the mayor in the folky tale toon!and he didnt appear as much as the booth itself!-User:Timmy!

Yes, but he was a fictional character. This is, just a booth, where random things happen. Homestramy20|Talk 22:09, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

50K RaceWalker Reference

Could Homestars "left right left right left" be a reference to 50K Racewalker? -kyky

I think it is. He does get a "fault" of sounds when he messes up. - Joshua
Although, it could just be Homestar being.. just his usual random self. Homestramy20|Talk 00:06, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Hmmm... It was up as a fact, now it's removed... I'm tempted to put it back up... it seems debatable at least -kyky
In fact, it is being debated right now in STUFF. — It's dot com 18:42, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

TrogdorCon!!! It's obvious!!!

I think TrogdorCon is a reference to DragonCon where the current HSR Booth. I think this because Trogdor is a Dragon and there are a lot of refernces to DragonCon in this Short. Also, do you think that when Strong Sad is all goin "Oh yeah, that's a good one StrongBad" that he could be building up a psycological defense against him. 20X6 GEM

Well first, 20X6 GEM, you're right about TrogdorCon = DragonCon. In fact, there's a trivia item that points out that Mike and Matt had the same booth number as Strong Bad. Second, I think Strong Sad said what he said because Strong Bad's cut-down really wasn't that good or creative. — It's dot com 04:59, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Well done for stating the blindingly obvious.

Strong Sad

It has been two times now that Strong Sad has over played a word. He has done this in Strong Bad is in Jail Cartoon, when he says "baklava", and in this short, saying "anime". Does anyone think this could be going for Running Gags? Or does it need another reference or two? Homestramy20|Talk 22:06, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

It needs at least one more reference. Two would be even better. — It's dot com 22:13, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Oh, okay. I thot I might just point that out, just incase. Homestramy20|Talk 22:14, 7 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Closed STUFF

50K Starrunner

Homestar Runner's chant of "left, right, left, right, right, right, no—" is similar to the description of 50K Racewalker on the Videlectrix games catalog page.

Nerdiest Diapey

The diaper reference is from the Alphonse Elric character in Fullmetal Alchemist where his apron has been mistaken by the others for a diaper.
