:Is it normal for the Cheat's dialogue to be spelled out? Also, Firebert's action figure isn't listed as an Inside Reference to action figure, or as a fast-forward to Cheat Commandos, just explained under Easter Eggs. Is there a non-redundant way to do this? --notstrongorbad 04:18, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Strong Sad is trying to to keep the the Homestarmy from retreating so that the Strongbadians won't win the "battle".  This kind of line is common in war movies.  --Stong Bad 17:19, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Do you HAS what it takes?
-

-
When Homestar says "Do you has what it takes...?" during his little recruitment speech (with particular emphasis on the "has"), I'd always thought that that was a Yellow Dellow reference.  At one point in The Yellow Dellow, Homestar says "I think I has the solution!"  This incorrect choice of words is mentioned by Strong Sad in the DVD commentary.  I'd always heard Homestar's "Do you has what it takes...?" to be a reference to that (replacing "have" with "has").--Rocketlex 08:37, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

This is the stuff of which bad Real World References are made, but for that reason I was kind of surprised not to find anything in the history speculating that "Hankatola" is a reference to the Islamic title Ayatollah. In the DVD commentary they say Frank's a Presto air popper, so it's more likely he's a Presto 04820 PopLite Popcorn Maker then a West Bend 01568 Popcorn Maker. The Presto has the orange top and everything.

Wasn't there a line in Lord of the Rings that went something like "Gondor has no king and needs no king"? It was the first thing I thought of when I heard "Strongbadia has no army and needs no army". Please gimme some feedback as to the acceptability of this reference. 16BitJorge 00:25, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

-
:Actually, the line in this email is, "Does Strong Badia have an army? Strong Badia needs no army, Hankatola." So they're not similar enough to be a reference. Even if they were more similar, it would probably be too much of a stretch anyway. 00:29, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

I Think That The "Trade In That Skirt Your Wearing"And The Gorden Light Foot Part May be a refrence to the gorden highlanders,a high land regiment in the british army that wore kilts(Some people call kilts skirts).--99.224.229.97 20:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

-
:Nah, it's definitely likely the way it already is: a reference to a line in a song by Gordon Lightfoot. And the skirt line is just a way of mocking Strong Bad's manliness to try and get him to change sides. An "If you're not with us, you're a girly-girl!" kind of thing. --DorianGray 22:28, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Not article-worthy, but Marina Orlova, the philology expert on YouTube, did a video which explains the difference in spelling and pronunciation of "colonel" - seems Homestar is using the original pronunciation! In the commentary, Matt mentions that one of the commando names they came up with (but never used) was "Little Albert".  Could this be a reference to this psychological experiment?  I mean, there isn't any similarity other than the name, but as far as I know it's a pretty famous experiment, one that anyone who's taken a Psychology class would have heard of, and that's what I thought of when I read it.  - Ingiald 16:11, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

It is not set in stone, but do you think it is possible that Homestar calling, The Cheat, a "Yellow Dog" may be a reference to the 1988 Chevy Chase film "Funny Farm"? In it his dog's name is "Yellow Dog".

-
:No. Google brings up all sorts of stuff that isn't that, and not much that is. 22:46, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Is it notable for the purposes of this wiki that, as of 2015 or so, there is, in fact, a Goodminton? It appears to be a proprietary racquet game where the shuttlecocks are designed to go at a consistent speed no matter how hard you hit them.
