Format

This page does not follow the format at all. Please look at emails one through twenty-two for examples. And take a look at the TranscriptionStandards page. Please. -- Tom 08:34, 28 Jul 2004 (MST)

Holy crap!!!!
I was just trying to get it to look like PomPom email. I didnt relize how diffrent the page looks in the normal skin. (I had a diffrent skin up to speed up page loading on my old computer.) I'll get to work fixing it right away. -James
Man, thanks for catching all those, Tom. This is a lot of work. -- JoeyDay 11:09, 28 Jul 2004 (MST)
Hey, I didn't catch them all. I left some for you guys. -- Tom 11:23, 28 Jul 2004 (MST)
Man, I thought I'd cleaned up most of the problems with it, but it looks like there were plenty more. Page formatting can be a pain. :-P --James
Is it normal for the Cheat's dialogue to be spelled out? Also, Firebert's action figure isn't listed as an Inside Reference to action figure, or as a fast-forward to Cheat Commandos, just explained under Easter Eggs. Is there a non-redundant way to do this? --notstrongorbad 04:18, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Removed fun fact

I removed this fun fact:

  • Pay close attention when the Homestarmy arrives in Strong Badia. Homsar just wobbles off!

Because this had already been acknowledged in the transcript. --Upsilon

Date Fun Fact

Is the fun fact

  • This email was added on January 5, 2004

really needed? We have the Updates section for the dates, so why should we have it here? --FireBird|Talk

Hold the Line!

What's that supposed to mean?

Strong Sad is trying to to keep the the Homestarmy from retreating so that the Strongbadians won't win the "battle". This kind of line is common in war movies. --Stong Bad 17:19, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Is that line from any particular movie we could reference? -- TaranchulaVamp15 14:33, 29 Sept 2005 (UTC)

Please note what they say about it in the DVD Commentary, TaranchulaVamp. --notstrongorbad
I've heard it a lot, so I dont think its from a particular movie. — talk Bubsty edits 00:25, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

"Hold the Line" is also a song by Toto that enjoyed some popularity -- I mention it here because I think there's absolutely no relation at all.

Do you HAS what it takes?

When Homestar says "Do you has what it takes...?" during his little recruitment speech (with particular emphasis on the "has"), I'd always thought that that was a Yellow Dellow reference. At one point in The Yellow Dellow, Homestar says "I think I has the solution!" This incorrect choice of words is mentioned by Strong Sad in the DVD commentary. I'd always heard Homestar's "Do you has what it takes...?" to be a reference to that (replacing "have" with "has").--Rocketlex 08:37, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Hankatollah?

This is the stuff of which bad Real World References are made, but for that reason I was kind of surprised not to find anything in the history speculating that "Hankatola" is a reference to the Islamic title Ayatollah. Given the militaristic them of this email and current global events, this would be somewhat interesting. --notstrongorbad 04:18, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Tape rewind noise

It's interesting to note that Strong Sad didn't forget to rewind. The rewind noise is clearly audible after the second "YEAH!". - SoulSkorpion 10:14, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Yes, and it is indeed noted --phlip TC 10:20, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

Shhh... Strong Sad's Asleep

To me, this email sounds a bit quieter than all of the others. I have done a comparison many times and still found this to be true. Does anyone else notice this? The Coachsmith 21:32, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Skirt?

In the transcript, it states that Homestar says "...trade in that skirt you're wearing." Am I the only one who thinks he says "scrap" instead of "skirt?" Anybody? The Coachsmith 21:36, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Uh... yes. He quite definately says skirt. — talk Bubsty edits 19:42, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
This dosen't have to do whith anything, but do you think Homestar said "skirt" instead of "pants" Beacause his shirt looks like a skirt?

- Wario64 16:54, 21 January 2007

No, the implication is that anyone not willing to join his army must wear a skirt, or be not masculine enough. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 21:53, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Bennedetto

In the DVD commentary they say Frank's a Presto air popper, so it's more likely he's a Presto 04820 PopLite Popcorn Maker then a West Bend 01568 Popcorn Maker. The Presto has the orange top and everything.

But more importantly, should this be moved to Frank's character page? Qermaq 19:19, 14 February 2006 (UTC)

With no further comments, it's been changed. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:38, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

collin l homestar

yea yea i know it is just colonel pronounced phonetically, but still, are there any other references to collin l or homestar having another ( not different ) name csours 06:37, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Strongsad rewind goof

Should there be some reference to the fact that mike and matt actually mentioned the mistake they had made by putting the extra rewind sound in their comentary? G man yo 10:53, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure. I'd support it, but I want to know if there's any precedent. --Jnelson09 17:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

Dr. Strangelove

General Ripper belonged to the U.S. Air Force (not the Army), but I failed at changing this article.

Thanks for that! I changed it in the article. Loafing 20:47, 15 February 2007 (UTC)

Trivia Time

Should any of you guys/users know that the Trivia Time cookie jar is Frank's pet? -Viklas 12:25, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Possible LOTR Reference

Wasn't there a line in Lord of the Rings that went something like "Gondor has no king and needs no king"? It was the first thing I thought of when I heard "Strongbadia has no army and needs no army". Please gimme some feedback as to the acceptability of this reference. 16BitJorge 00:25, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Actually, the line in this email is, "Does Strong Badia have an army? Strong Badia needs no army, Hankatola." So they're not similar enough to be a reference. Even if they were more similar, it would probably be too much of a stretch anyway. Has Matt? (talk) 00:29, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and if you change your mind...

I always thought Homestar said, "Oh, and if you change your mind, you wanna trade in that skirt you're wearing for a nice pair of camos?", something like that. Yet I didn't bother editing the transcript. Any thoughts about this? --Charlie Jr. 15:41, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

fwa bwenbwteo?

Sounds like Homestar's saying "Fwank Bwentendo" to me.? KlingOnMyDreams 18:52, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

where are you referring to? — Defender1031*Talk 20:25, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
After he supposedly dies. KlingOnMyDreams 19:41, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Light Foot Skirt?

I Think That The "Trade In That Skirt Your Wearing"And The Gorden Light Foot Part May be a refrence to the gorden highlanders,a high land regiment in the british army that wore kilts(Some people call kilts skirts).--99.224.229.97 20:52, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Nah, it's definitely likely the way it already is: a reference to a line in a song by Gordon Lightfoot. And the skirt line is just a way of mocking Strong Bad's manliness to try and get him to change sides. An "If you're not with us, you're a girly-girl!" kind of thing. --DorianGray 22:28, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, that'd be a stretch. Gordon Lightfoot is definitely the reference here. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:38, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Oh I see

I agree with this edit (which got reverted). Anybody else got an opinion? Loafing 23:29, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

Agreed. There's no "s" sound in there, so it's "Oh, I see." Heimstern Läufer 23:31, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Definitely "oh". "So" doesn't even really make sense in that context. — It's dot com 23:34, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
I heard an "s" sound in it, and the subtitles say "so". That's why I reverted it. JCM 23:47, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Subtitles are more often than not based on the transcript. Always refer to the source when evaluating transcription errors. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 07:44, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Colonel

Not article-worthy, but Marina Orlova, the philology expert on YouTube, did a video which explains the difference in spelling and pronunciation of "colonel" - seems Homestar is using the original pronunciation! [1] Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:45, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

Little Albert

In the commentary, Matt mentions that one of the commando names they came up with (but never used) was "Little Albert". Could this be a reference to this psychological experiment? I mean, there isn't any similarity other than the name, but that's what I thought of as soon as I heard it. - Ingiald 16:11, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
