take-a-break.exe

It seems that when I click 'win' to download take-a-break.exe I'm asked to enter a username and password. When I click 'mac' it does to a blank page that has take-a-break.exe running on the page, but there is no sound. Has anyone else had this problem? If so let me know. Same problem. Tried it in both IE and Firefox. Weird.--blackbelt 22:00, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Payphone Ed's edit on Jul 2

Yeah, wrong "its" indeed... I guess I need to give "Strong Bad's Rhythm and Grammar" another listen...

Missing Email

One of the emails is missing in the transcript - namely the one just after Strong Bad tapes The Cheat's name to the screen. 84.10.229.242 13:59, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)

No, it's all in there. -BazookaJoe 14:03, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Yes, it's fixed now. 84.10.229.242 11:31, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Lasko Come Home!

Strong Bad's pronunciation of "Lasko" may be a reference to the opening of the television show Lassie (1954-1974). Lassie's owner Timmy would call "Lassie!" with a similar inflection before the theme song started.

The Birds

How are we sure SB has a "disdain for birds"? The fact that he kills them in the first three issues is just him being random on the paper. Does he have a disdain for girls as well, from all the Arrow'ds he does? I dont thinks so, judging by the way he's always talking about girls. Also, I dont think his pronunciation of winged should really be considered part of the "ed" running gag, since a lot of people calle a bird their "winged friend" in that manner. Im guessing that we wont be able to prevent it from being here, though...

I agree with the part about the disdain for birds being speculation (though, one of his bottom 10 is "not... piggeons"). As for "winged", it most certainly does apply. — Defender1031*Talk 04:36, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
If one of his bottom 10 is not pigeons, then that would mean has an affection for birds, or at least, ones that "eat breadcrumbs" and "craps on people." —Guard Duck talk 04:44, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
The way I understood it, he was trying to avoid saying he had a fear of pidgeons... like he was saying that that spot was something entirely other than pidgeons when really it WAS pidgeons. — Defender1031*Talk 04:47, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
If we really want to get all analysis-ish about this, considering the way he paused before saying "pigeons", it seemed to me that he couldn't think of anything and was just using the first thing that popped in his head. But that doesn't really matter in the broad sense, which is that for the most part, Strong Bad's fear or dislike of birds is largely speculation. (By the way, "pigeons" doesn't have a "D") —Guard Duck talk 06:06, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

The Cheat Watching Himself into Infinity

I personally think this fact was a good one, and a very humorous fact at that. Is there any reason why it shouldn't stay? MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 20:02, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

take-a-break for Intel Mac

hi! I've made a small take-a-break.app for Intel Mac using Wineskin, it works great for me here. would you guys be interested in this? (cant find a place that will alow me to host this file for now, but I can send it to anyone, it's literally only 172,6 MB big.) ~ZaphodBeeblebrox

This would be better discussed at the forum. — Defender1031*Talk 12:05, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
ah, ok, where exactly at the forum would I discuss this? e. which sub-topic? ZaphodBeeblebrox --80.203.88.132 21:58, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

Blue line, blue blue line, it's a Strong Bad Email again.

You can see it here, rendered in high quality.
Same here, rendered in low quality and magnified 4x.

Much like in army, there is a glitch in this email that is only visible when zooming in at a certain distance. One of the blue lines from the piece of notebook paper extends in front of the Compy.

However, as I mentioned, it is only visible at certain sizes. It does not show up when using the default size on the website (but then, neither does the glitch in army). Therefore, is it worth including in the fun facts? -- ■■   PURPLE Φ ORNAMENT   ■■ 21:37, 27 November 2014 (UTC)

Even if I zoom in, I still don't see that. — It's dot com 22:45, 29 November 2014 (UTC)
I think it has to be a very specific size. It was kind of arbitrary because that was the size my browser window happened to be, but the height of the Flash file was set to 681px according to the developer tools (the width doesn't matter because the window is wider than it is tall). -- ■■   PURPLE Φ ORNAMENT   ■■ 05:33, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Update: having switched computers and operating systems since then, and switching web browsers for this purpose specifically... if I run it with a height of 681 pixels I still get the blue line glitch. (If you're watching the site normally it won't happen, but if you have the Greasemonkey script running or you're watching the Flash file directly, it's actually pretty likely.) There's a few other arbitrary window sizes where this happens, too. I should also mention that if the glitch is going to happen, only the middle blue line is affected. The top and bottom lines are always clipped correctly.
Note: I just tried watching the email using Gnash, and it doesn't happen at any size. Interesting... -- ■■   PURPLE Φ ORNAMENT   ■■ 17:11, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Deletion of the DELETED!! fact

With one exception, this is the only time that the Compy uses the proper "DELETED!!!" screen on a specific email. (It was being used more generally in unused emails and replacement, and all other instances on the Compy are things like "MATT!!" or "NOTTA CHANCE!!") The exception is in 2 emails, but there it is not obvious or part of the plot of the email.

This fact has been on the page unquestioned for years, and was then removed after a brief chat on Discord. People on the Wiki itself did not have any opportunity to weigh in. This discussion should be in a place where more people can see it and weight in. I'm in favor of put it back, for the record. --Jay (Gobble) 00:23, 4 July 2022 (UTC)

Well, I recall that the DELETED! screen was never used during the Lappy 486 era, except during the SBCG4AP games, which don't count. Actually, looking over the DELETED! running gag page, I've noticed that it doesn't show up as often as you'd expect, and yet somehow the other characters recognize it as a distinctive running gag and make second-generation references to things getting deleted. No vote here, just observations. -- 68.37.43.131 00:31, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
It also appears on the Lappy in the Sbemail Disc 5 intro (which if memory serves was using SBCG4AP assets), but yes, this fact was mainly stressing that the gag is really Tandy-specific outside special cases and this one single email. Heck, the last time we saw a proper DELETED!! screen in canon, it was on the remains of the Tandy in retirement. --Jay (Gobble) 00:36, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
I say keep but reword - the "exceptions"/"other instances"/"more generally" fiddle-faddle takes up two-thirds of the fact and diminishes the claim that it's "the only time". I'll do some fiddling on the DELETED page to make sure the info here is covered there as well. Maybe This is the only time that the Compy uses the proper "DELETED!!!" screen to prominently and successfully delete a specific email. and let the Compy or Fun Facts section on the main DELETED page elaborate. -- Bleu Ninja 00:54, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
I had a feeling that there might be a way to word this in a way that singles out this specific instance as a unique event. That phrasing could work. DEI DAT VMdatvm center\super contra 15:35, 4 July 2022 (UTC)
I don’t have super strong feelings but I’m leaning towards put it back -113.37.226.89 02:59, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
As the person who deleted the fact in the first place, I'm a bit torn on whether it should be brought back. Like I said in my comment in the edit, it feels like a bit too nitpicky for its claims regarding 2 emails, and I think that unused emails counts, despite Dan's email still being visible after the deletion. However, Bleu Ninja's proposed rewording does cut the nitpicking down, and it makes the fact a lot nicer, so while I'm leaning against bringing it back, I wouldn't mind if that happens.
It is worth noting, though, that this is the first Compy email to show the proper DELETED! screen, since 50 emails had "MATT!!" instead. — Keegster2 (Howl at me) 03:20, 5 July 2022 (UTC)
