Homestar's t-shirt

Anybody know what Homestar's t-shirt says? I'm sure it's a reference to something, but I don't know what it is, and I can't make out what it says. Also, I tried moving his bathrobe by decompiling the Flash file, but the robe and the t-shirt are the same graphic. Trey56 17:51, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Strong Badia?

When people mention Strong Badia in their emails, Strong Bad seems to have stopped bothering to either a) actually assume they mean Strong Badia, and set the email there or b) correct them. I think this is the first time he goes ahead and assumes "Strong Badia" means "Free Country USA". Worth noting? User:Tim333

When has he done it before? "local news" is set in strong badia. In "keep cool" there's a deliberate fourth wall break explaining the error. "unnatural" is set (at least at the start) in Strong Badia. In "mini-golf" he says "Strong Badia doesn't have a place of its own..." I could go on, but I can't think of a single time he's simply ignored the mention of Strong Badia. User:Tim333

Technically this time he didn't quite ignore it, the FIRST place he shows is IN Strong Badia. Strong Badia has that hill. Then he says "but when it comes to good clubs...." like he's finished answering the actual e-mail and has moved on to other non-StrongBadian clubs. .. Strong Badia vs. Bubs' Concession Stand

We have a strange reversal here. Strong Badia and Bubs' Concession Stand seem to have switched places! How do we mention this? Or do we? =] OptimisticFool 18:16, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

It's the same place, the difference is the ELEVATION and RANGE of the image. Carrot and Kazoo hill would be in the middle-right of the black area in the first picture, hence you wouldn't see it in that picture. (Imagine looking at a hill from above - it would appear flat). This of course doesn't change that the two seem to be in the wrong places. StarLion 18:41, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

And not just the fence and flag, but the tire as well (which IS there in nightlife, if you look closely). It's clear they somehow switched places. Additionally, isn't is possible that Club Technochocolate is in the concession stand? We've never seen the outside of it, Bubs works there, and in the Cheat's video, he says he DJ's down at Bubs'sDAGRON 01:51, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

They could have been the same night, just not at the same time. In either case, if Bubs' stand was open, where's Bubs? His silhouette should be there.

Removed Edit

The quote "But that's for another e-mail." is a reference to Good Eats, where host Alton Brown constantly implies that a recipe or topic has been or will be discussed on another episode with a similar phrase.

I don't mind, just I'd like to know a reason. It is a real reference, I watch the show a great deal, but I'd at least like to know Stinkoblade 19:26, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

The phrase "but that's for another email" could stem from many common phrases, not least of which is the idiom "but that's another story". OptimisticFool 19:32, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Stinkoblade raises a good point here. A hasty perusal of the pages in the HRWiki Policy category didn't turn up anything on this point, but it would seem to me that it's a little "brusque" to remove anything from a page without a few words of explanation in the edit comment. It does happen a lot in the heat of the moment. Newbies learn faster when you repeatedly point them to such well-trod pages as HRWiki:Standards and HRWiki:Inclusion guidelines, and everyone's favorite HRWiki:Glossary#TTATOT. On the other hand, implying that their contribution wasn't even worth the extra twenty seconds to explain why it wasn't worth an extra twenty seconds has got to be frustrating. --TheNicestGuy 21:07, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Soma

Is it worth noting anything about Soma (Brave New World, etc.)? It's not exactly relevant, given it's just a strange pronunciation, but perhaps it's worthy of a mention.

I don't think this is a reference to anything: I think it's just a corruption name signed by the sender. There's nothing to link this to Brave New World at all, and I don't know that the SF reference is too strong, either. Heimstern Läufer 06:45, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

If we're shooting for wild stretches, maybe it's a reference to Soma Cruz, the main character from Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. After all, Strong Bad used it as a name, and the Castlevania games are definitely about "the night"! ...only, no. It's not. Because there's no reason for it to be. Soma's also a japanese last name (see all the main characters if Fruits Basket, for example) and a common japanese place name, the cell body of the neuron, a ritual drink, and lots of other stuff. So, there's your "other reference." TTATOT, yet? =3 -DAGRON 07:28, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Actually, I think it's a reference to Sora, from Kingdom Hearts. Strong Bad probably saw "Somekindaguy" and wanted to pronounce the first part similar to "Sora", and "Soma" was the best he could do. I'll go add the reference. OptimisticFool 07:40, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

• Strong Bad's email song is rhythmically identical to the one from dragon ("Here I go once again with the email...").

Chicken Melt

I found this under real-world references--

• The "Crispy Chicken Melt" and its spicy variety are a reference to Burger King's Tendercrisp Chicken sandwich.

Bubs's arms!

Did anybody notice that Bub's arms were done with shape tweening?! Thats... different. --Mysterious Mysterio.

I totally did. I wasn't sure, but my first thought was that this new, curvier movement was used here for the first time. Cinnamon stubble

It looks like Homestar has his cinnamon stubble again in this one. In the transcript, it just observes that he's "unshaved." I'm not entirely sure this is accurate, as HSR has never actually, to my knowledge, said that he shaves, and I'm pretty certain that he said he doesn't. I'm too lazy and tired to find the email where this happens, though. Anyways, should the transcript be changed to acknowledge the cinnamon-ness, or should it be pointed out as a running joke in the remarks section? Or is it understood at this point that anytime HSR has stubble that it's cinnamon, and thus it need not be mentioned? Nightsong81 09:17, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

My Goof

Somebody removed this goof I put on the page: In the first dancing scene, Marzipan's mouth is in it's old style. Someone also removed my image of Marzi's mouth. Can we discuss this first? SuperfieldCreditUnion

• I agree with the last remark. Some people just don't include a last name, and if i were to use a weird word and then name my town as "Josh", i'd probably notice that it looks like Josh is my name and make a bracketed remark, à la Jody (not a girl). —Jody (Bulldozer)

Eye goof

Can someone check on this: I thought I noticed some weirdness going on with SB's eyes when he walks up to SM. Like, the sizes aren't the same. Maybe I'm making it up, but I know that kinda thing has happened before. Speaking of which, does anyone know what would cause it?
