Glitch

I was watching the toon while holding down the tab button to look for easter eggs, so at the end I was holding it down and the paper was just stuck there covering the whole screen of the lappy and the audio for the "downhill" easter egg played. The second time that Strong Bad and Homestar try to make it look like "Original Bubs" is there (DEESH WARSH), "Concessions by Original Bubs" is written backwards!

Rock 'em Sock 'em Reference?

Kick The Can

Since Oldtimey Homestar did that, it made me think they were about to mention that Homestar had been a replacement himself, for the 'original' old Homestar.

Shadow?

Also, when his head is popped up, his head's shadow does not move on his neck. The URL of the image is "vulomedia.com/images/65110Picture48.png" I don't think my brain is at its best today, would this be a shadow problem? Letterman

Strong Bad's mention of talk show hosts using guest hosts when they have surgery is a reference to David Letterman.

The above was removed from the article. I'm not going to do an exhaustive search, so I won't bother claiming Letterman is the only host to have undergone surgery, but he's certainly the most popular one in recent memory to do so, and I think it's very likely TBC would have had him (and only him) in mind as they wrote the line. The only person I can think of who has both had guest hosts and is as notable as Dave is Johnny Carson, but this section doesn't make any mention of a surgery. I would have to say no. It's really explaining the joke - the fact writes itself from Strong Bad's own words. To wit: "Strong Bad talking about talk show hosts taking replacements when they have surgery is a reference to talk show hosts taking replacements when they have surgery [such as blah blah blah blah blah]." James Bond reference?

Does anyone else think the reference to replacing Original Bubs with an unknown that had zero experience (and it going 'downhill' from there) was a reference to the James Bond series? I mean, that's exactly what George Lazenby was - an unknown with zero experience. And the wide opinion is that the series DEFINITELY went downhill from there.

It's a reference to many instances of jumping the shark. Lots of people consider replacing an actor as an instance of when the show begins to decline. --DorianGray 05:16, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

New Paper

Great Eyesight

Oh, and by the way, I don't think this is a valid remark: "Bubs saying that he has no thumbs is a reference to his lack of visible fingers." 'Lack of visible fingers' redirects to 'lack of visible arms.' Bubs HAS arms, and he's not really referring to anything that has to do with them, but rather just maknig a random comment about himself. I originally thought it was the Eiffel Tower as well, but on a second viewing, it doesnt look like either very much. If its the statue of liberty, it doesnt have a head, and if its the eiffel tower, it has a big extra bit on the left side -Jdhannan 15:27, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

I admit it's not very detailed, but it looks way more like a crappy Statue of Liberty than a crappy Eiffel Tower or giraffe. The basic features of the Statue are there: the torch, the base, even the tablet she's holding up. Yeah, the head could have used a bit more work, but overall it's a pretty faithful reproduction. I definitely see the eiffel tower when I view the toon, but when you look at just a still image of the sculpture, I guess I can see how it might be the statue of liberty. The extension on the top left could easily be the torch hand, but the four pillar base and general structure looks much more like the eiffel tower. I think he means that the not superior (or popular) bubs has odd shapes for his mouth when he says any word with an O in it.

Should the graveyard be considered a place?

We see the graveyard in an easter egg in this toon. It has been seen at least once before(in retirement, though how cannon both appearances are is up for debate)

Should we consider this a separate place or just part of the field?

In times past, people would hook their thumbs under their suspenders (braces for you Brits) toward the shoulders and pull them out slightly in a sign of self-satisfaction. Honestly, I don't know that this ever happened anywhere but TV shows. Regardless, sometimes people will emulate this motion without suspenders. Green Belt

Noticed that Senator Cardgage Bubs is wearing a green belt, which seems noteworthy as, just like Onion Bubs, its a feature absent on original bubs but found on actual bubs. -Telamon 21:55, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
