Marzipans Teeth

Is this the first actually showing of Marzipan having teeth? -Soniku64

What does The Cheat throw?

The Cheat uses something to both break Trivia Time and throw at Homestar. Does anyone recognize what that object is? In both cases it is the same object. No, The Cheat does not throw the electric grill at Homestar.

There's already a fact on the page for what he used to break TT, but I could SWORN it was the Cooking Device he threw at Homestar. But I can't check right now. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 19:18, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
Eh, never mind. I guess you're right. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 19:23, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
I swear It's a waffle iron because my gandma has a waffle iron just like it. He can't say job. Don't say jorb 101 Seriously, he can't say job!
It looks like an Air-Freshener to me.. Cyberdemon 20:19, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Gorf?

"Unintelligible" during The Cheat's score announcement is misspelled "Unitntelligible"

I'm not really sure about this. I think it's purposely spelt that way to literally make it unintelligible. What do you think?

No, I'd wager it's a typo. I've coined those kind of unneeded "addendums" as "This Might Be Because...", and I tend to remove them wherever I see them. They don't really add much, and are entirely speculation. -YKHi. I'm Ayjo! 22:14, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
The fact that they fixed it leans heavily toward this NOT being the case, as well. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 00:03, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Holy-crap-adorable

I can't have been the only one to notice that The Cheat's eyes are HUGE in this email. What do you people think? Design update or just something for this email? --Kiwi 16:22, 4 Feb 2008 (UTC)

I'd say it's just for this email. To make him cuter and more likely to win. But we'll have to see, eh? --DorianGray 21:31, 4 February 2008 (UTC)
it better not be permanent. at any rate, it's strange that his eyes were like that for the entire email, even when strong badandmad are glazing him over ---Zatchman 00:54, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
And that they didn't explain how they got his eyes to look like that. On the other hand, TBC would not do so drastic a change so suddenly at a time like this. ---Alex H.

We will still need to keep our eyes open, though, because unless i am very much mistaken, the cheat's nose is curvier than it normally is, so even if the eyes go back to normal (please oh lord) it's possible the cheat still has a permanent design change here --Zatchman 03:55, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

My suspicion is that his enlarged eyes were supposed be a result of being glazed. I rubbed glaze all over my eyeballs and they became huge, too, so that's got to be it. It's hard to blink now, though. OptimisticFool 04:31, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
at the risk of going forumy, i have to ask: did it make your nose curve, too? --Zatchman 07:04, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Wait, OptimisticFool, so you're saying that you actually rubbed glaze into your eyes? Isn't that dangerous? And to keep my message relevant to the thread, The Cheat's eyes went back to normal the following week, so yeah, it was glazed eyes. – The Chort 19:28, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
You think this is a hobby?! This is serious stuff, man! We can't expect our editors to do things halfway. Now follow Optimistic Fool's example and rub stuff in your eyes next time there's any doubt, or you'll never make it on hrwiki! -DAGRON 19:43, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Gritty Kitty

I can't find any pictures online, but isn't the Cat Mess bag and font a visual reference to the Gritty Kitty brand of cat litter from Ren & Stimpy?

I don't think so [1]Loafing 00:39, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Simpsons

There's not really any reason to believe the potatoes line is a Simpsons reference. It's quite possible to independantly come up with a line like that.

An excellent point. Some people once might have said, "Is there anything books can't do?" or, "Pencils, is there anything they can't do?", you get the idea. --Charlie Jr. 18:50, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
But TBC have referenced The Simpsons a lot in the past... SuperfieldCreditUnion
That's never a guarantee they are now. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:53, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Since it's not even the exact same wording I'll have to doubt it. Bad Bad Guy 18:10, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
This reminds me of the "Worst mayonnaise party ever" line from secret identity. That got STUFFed and declined so I doubt this would get approved as well. – The Chort 19:33, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

Smiling

So... we've got down SB and SM smiling, but did anyone else notice that Marzipan has a ridiculously large grin on her face when she puts that leash on Homestar? ...Why do we even have a page for characters smiling, anyway? -Zero.exe

That's a very good question
We don't have Marzipan because her mouth is nearly always smiling. And as for your question...we have them because it's unusual that those characters smile. Their mouths are naturally a frown. Unbalanced 23:50, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Miss America

Why does the pet show resemble the Miss America pageant? Is it just the dance contest?--.Johnny Jupiter! talk cont 03:04, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

There's also the place where Strong Bad is quizzing Teh C. on how he'd respond to various questions, such as the "world situation." One would not expect this in your average pet show (I'd hope not anyway; my cat's views on world politics basically come down to "My human rocks because he pets me and feeds me, and to pfargtl with everyone else!") --Jaybor Day (Talk) 03:42, 6 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I think that "world situation" thing is a Miss America reference, too. Should we add it to Real-World References? but, a buttdanceNeox ONION BUBS!YOU WILL RESPECT MAH AUTHORI-TAH!!!
I would propose that as many other beauty pageants feature a "world situation" Q&A, so this is not so much a ref to Miss America as it is to beauty pageants in general. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:57, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree with Qermaq. Weird. I don't think that's ever happened before.--.Johnny Jupiter! talk cont 00:12, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

QLD

What does it actually stand for? — Defender1031*Talk 03:13, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

People who... went to college.

Strong Sad claims he's taking night classes to "get an education" even though in concert Strong Bad implied that sloshy's audience (which includes Strong Sad, as he's a sloshy fan) was made up of people who "went to college." I think it's worth noting somewhere, but I don't know how to word it. ~That Guy Over There (User talk:That Guy Over There) 05:50, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I think Inconsistencies would be a good place, but phrasing is even alluding me. And my indian name is "He who speaks well, dangerously!" —Flashfight 07:06, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
The majority of people may have went to college, nor necessarily all, it's not like you have to show your degree to go to the show, right? I think this is interesting but unnotable. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 09:49, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
I don't think anything Strong Sad said in this e-mail should be taken seriously, unless you want to consider the possibility of him dumping his boyfriend. --Jaybor Day (Talk) 17:10, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
That, plus the fact that in concert, Strong Bad didn't specifically say that sloshy fans go to college.--.Johnny Jupiter! talk cont 00:01, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Strong Sad's whole speech in that scene was making fun of hairdressers. Everything in it, from complaining about someone, to talking about how valuable his time is, even the cheat's noises are all riffs on getting your hair done and making fun of the way hairdressers talk to their clients ("does the back look ok?"). The comment about night classes is part of that stereotype and joke. It's not unusual for someone in the service industry, like a cosmetologist, to try and work towards a higher education at the same time. All that to say, nothing in that scene should be taken as information about Strong Sad's character, or the character of Sloshy fans.

The Cheat Variation?

I think Saberlord's Scritchascratch Cakemonger The Cheat is a variation, but is real like Senor Cardgage, or another of The Cheat's other costumes. Justin Master of Nature 19:12, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Mirror, Mirror

Have you guys ever considered putting up mirrors of the old versions of these SBEmails with "fixed goofs"? --Technochocolate 05:26, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

We do this on rare occasions, when the goof is particularly notable (Let Us Give TANKS!, for example). But I don't see the need for things like just plain ol' spelling errors or something, yeah? --DorianGray 05:34, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Trust me, it's pretty necessary, and I'm sure there are dozens, nay, SEVERALS that feel the same way. --Technochocolate 05:37, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
And the only thing that was changed was a floating lime. That's just as little as this toon, which has 1 spelling error, a screwed up leash, a messed up floor, and upside-down text. (which is actually pretty funny lookin'.) That's a total of 4 fixed goofs. Did that TANKS! toon have anything else besides that lime? --Technochocolate 09:27, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
The lime had a big ol' talk page discussion, though. --DorianGray 10:08, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I don't really see what we gain from mirroring un-degoofed versions. These goofs or their fixes arent' exciting or debated at all. No need to do more than to document them for posterity and prosperity. Loafing 11:17, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

GPA

What's GPA? Global Point Average? Golden Pancake America? Golly, Pick Another? – The Chort 12:24, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Grade Point Average – another of those terms that the crazy Americans assume everyone knows (in short: 3.5 is a good GPA, 'cause 4.0 is as high as it goes). Perhaps worthy of an explanation? --phlip TC 12:29, 9 February 2008 (UTC)
Added to article. Thanks! – The Chort 12:58, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Hotfoot?

I don't really think there's enough of a connection between relishfoot and hotfoot. Anyone agree? or want to tell me what i'm missing? — Defender1031*Talk 04:00, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

I personally don't even understand how the connection works. Could someone attempt to explain the missing pieces to me and The 'Fender — Flashfight 17:14, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
I agree. I mean, other than prank-type things that involve feet... Eh. I'm not sure it's really explanation-worthy --lelila 05:45, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

Trivia Time

In light of this, isn't it possible that that cookie jar IS Trivia Time? Like, Pom Pom doesn't really have a dog, he's just got a cookie jar who he thinks is a dog...

Who said the cookie jar isn't Trivia Time? The Announcer clearly calls it that in the toon, and at least 1 commentary calls it "the Trivia Time cookie jar". Bad Bad Guy 23:15, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Er, the assumption thus far has been that Pom Pom has a real (but unseen) dog, and also a cookie jar resembling said dog. I'm suggesting that p'raps he never had a dog, this is his dog proxy...

More detail?

Shouldn't we put more detail into the description of the montage? You can't tell how exactly it happens just from reading it, and most, if not all, of the other transcripts on this wiki are highly detailed. -Anonymous, 7/25/08, 18:03

Bavarian Cream

Strong Bad orders Strong Mad to "give him the Bavarian Cream". Isn't this a reference to the real-world German state of Bavaria?

Bavarian cream. --DorianGray 00:13, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Outside Frame

Outside-Frame Action has been constantly removed from the wiki anyway... this should be no exception. ColdReactive 04:32, 18 July 2010 (UTC)

It's not an absolute, though. It's sometimes included if it's interesting, such as mustachio Homestar in Senorial Day. Heimstern Läufer 04:34, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
That IS notable, but this, this is FAR less notable than mustache homestar. Seeing as mustache homestar actually appeared in another toon and was intended to be in another toon. ColdReactive 04:39, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
We need to judge this (this being the fact about Strong Bad's arms being disconnected, since it hasn't been mentioned yet) on its own merits, not compare it to some other toon. I find the fact interesting enough to include. Note that the image in the article is actually the second image related to this fact, and if the second one is removed then the first one needs to be put back. — It's dot com 04:51, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Well? What about other people? ColdReactive 15:04, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
You know my opinion. The fact isn't about what's going on outside the frame, it's about the angle of the arms, which are inside the frame, and only shows what's going on outside the frame to illustrate the point more easily. — Defender1031*Talk 15:10, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Technically, the arms aren't in the frame. ColdReactive 15:11, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
The gloves are, and the angles work their way up from there. — Defender1031*Talk 15:14, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Those aren't part of the arm though, and as you said, they work their way up from there, meaning you say the angles start showing where the gloves end, and the arms begin. Seeing as not too much of the glove actually extends down into the frame of view. if the thumb was more visible in the frame of view, I would say, go for it. But, it isn't.
