Ahnberg Hand Q?

In the letter to Pom-Pom's parents, TBC did not use the modified Ahnberg Hand Q.

What exactly is Ahnberg Hand Q? A font? And what is its significance? (Is that what The Brothers Chaps use for Strong Bad's handwriting?) Please be more specific with things like this. --oddtodd 14:52, 17 Nov 2004 (MST)

Yes, Ahnberg Hand Q is what TBC use for Strong Bad's handwriting. I wish I had it on my computer! -Click if you dare

Question: If Strong Bad's typing gets messed up when he blindfolds himslef, wouldn't that mean that he needs to be looking at the keys to type properly? -Krem

I 'gree. Is that a fun fact? — talk Bubsty edits 05:10, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
Oh good, it is. 05:11, 1 November 2005 (UTC)
I reworded it. Ahnberg Hand is the font. This font uses a crossed q, which TBC normally change to a normal q. They did not this time. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:29, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Three-to-one marny

Are Strong Bad and Bubs playing three-to-one marny in the easter egg at the end? I'm not quite sure. --sticklyman

Good question. It's possible, because Strong Bad had 3 cards and Bubs had 1. So that's three-to-one. And here's something else to consider: if Bubs had a Kevin instead of a MonkeyDude, would that give him a full house? --unknownwarrior33 14:28, 24 Dec 2004 (MST)

Helium or Hydroge

"Strong Bad assumed that Pom Pom was filled with either hydrogen or helium, although it's probably neither of those, since they are each lighter than air in their natural states. If he were filled with hydrogen or helium, he would float away like a balloon, instead of being able to land on the ground."

Technically, he would not necessarily float even if filled with Helium or Hydrogen. It would depend on what his outside is made of, and how thick his outside was. For example, if you had a typical one-foot diameter balloon made out of lead instead of rubber, or of the latex was three inches thick, they would not float either, even filled with your standard balloon-level density of helium. Also, his arms and legs must have been solid, due to the fact that he can kick Strong Bad a fair distance. If they were simply inflated lumps on his body, they probably woudn't be able to do much damage. If his legs and arms were heavy enough, he would be stabilized.

He does float n some toons.

Bubs...greedy? (Declined)

When Strong Bad smashes his face into the wall, Bubs puts up a sign saying that face smachings are $5. When Pom Pom beats the everloving crap out of Strong Bad, Bubs puts up a sign saying that severe beatings are $10. Could Bubs be greedy?

  • Decline. This is definitely not the only reference to Bubs' greedyness. By the point this email comes out, anyone that knows Bubs would almost expect that of him. --NFITC1 24 Mar 2005

hidden frame (Declined)

For those of us using a seek bar there is a broken frame between the two easter eggs; a single frame of a black object that doesn't appear anywhere in the email itself.

Hidden Object Revealed

  • The submitter of the "hidden frame" fun fact above may have confused many, but he/she is, in fact, right about the unused object. It appears for twenty frames (frame 2085 to 2105) and while it is a flash artifact, it leaves the question of why it was not used. Perhaps it's a goof of some sort (although not a significant one) or maybe something extra for us "flash kiddies". I personally think it is some kind of ribbon or award. Picture of object in question:

—THE PAPER PREEEOW 14:03, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)

  • Check out the picture at the top of the page. That object is clearly the ribbon at the back of Strong Bad's headband, only in black instead of white. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 14:42, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
This is obviously old news, but for those who never figured it out... Watch the Theme Song Video and look at Pom Pom's belt when he's practicing his karate, and you'll see exactly what this object is (or was). If you watch his bandana as well, you'll notice that it's never shown from the back or side, so the knot is never visible. When Mike borrowed his bandana for Strong Bad's blindfold, he needed to add the knot for side views. So apparently he grabbed part of Pom Pom's belt from the same costume and recolored it. The stray object is the knot in its original colors, probably just left behind out of carelessness. --TheNicestGuy 14:39, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

BMW Lighter Reference?

This is the only one of the toons containing the BMW Lighter in which it does not burn something. Should that be added to a section of the front page? It seems rather special to me. Mortacai

I think it's too easily outdated and not really that notable, sorry. Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 16:39, 4 Oct 2005 (UTC) (BTW, here's a better way to sign your name. Use four tildes: ~~~~)

Kamikaze

I edited the mentions of Strong Bad's blindfold in the Transcript and Real-World References for accuracy. Specifically, I removed claims that it is a "Kamikaze bandana". While kamikaze pilots probably did often wear bandanas, this was a much older Japanese tradition and nothing specific to kamikaze. Actually, a kamikaze's bandana would be more likely to have a slogan written on it, particularly banzai ("ten-thousand years").

Of course, if someone feels that there's enough false association in people's minds between this bandana and kamikaze (like there could be with The Karate Kid, although the two bandanas side-by-side really don't look that similar), go ahead and revert. Just please make sure you're spelling it correctly, with no capitalization. --TheNicestGuy 14:55, 17 February 2006 (UTC)

Dot Egg

I believe "Dot Egg" is actually a well-disuiged inside reference to Coach Z's bizzare accent. (and may deserve mention as such in the remarks section) Coach Z's unique style of speaking would actually cause the word "Egg" to be pronounced "Org" --Tempestryder

Given that Coach Z disagrees with it, I doubt it. --Jay stuck at home (Talk) 20:28, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it's something of a backwards reference, where homestar has "removed" the Coach Z accent from the correct way of speaking the word. (As opposed to ADDING the Coach Z accent to the correct pronunciation) --Tempestryder

Dot Egg - Dot EDU?

Is Homestar trying to say .edu, misreading it and confusing it with .egg?

I think it's just Homestar's unbelievably loose grasp on the world around him. It's technically possible he got ".egg" from ".edu", but it could also have come from ".org". Note that he also suggests it might have been ".muffin", and that doesn't sound like anything real. Homestar's just not being too bright (as usual). Heimstern Läufer 18:26, 7 September 2006 (UTC)
Also cosider the Eggs are a reacuring theme in Homestar Runner. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:55, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, Kirby? I'm... not so sure.

You guys, I think we should remove the SSB:M Real-World Reference. I have the game (and might I add that it is pfargtlin' AWESOME! and that I can't wait for Brawl, especially since Sonic's in it) and see no resemblance to Kirby's fighting style. But then again, I use Ness most often... but, a buttdanceNeox ONION BUBS!YOU WILL RESPECT MAH AUTHORI-TAH!!!

Me too. And I use Kirby most often. And it is very VERY similar. And Brawl will be the awesome. Bluebry 22:09, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I am a kirby man all the way... the floaty, punchy, no-fingered grabby fighting style matches to a tee... — Defender1031*Talk 22:44, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm a Samus and Princess Toadstool (won't call her Peach) person, but anyone who owns the game ought to be able to recognized Kirby's fighting style. It's not just a resemblance. OptimisticFool 22:48, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Less-than-expert typist

Strong Bad exposes himself as a less-than-expert typist in this email. After "raising the stakes" and donning a blindfold, he cannot type. An expert touch-typist would have no problem typing in this situation.

This has been here a long time, so I'm not gonna remove it without discussion, but Strong Bad's mistyping while blindfolded is the joke. He's obviously an expert typist, as he can type as fast as he speaks (I certainly can't do so, and I'm an above-average typist). I mean, really: Have you evert tried to type and twtalk at the stiame ti eme? It's really hard to kdoo and keep up a normal pace. I managed to tyhpe this line at about half sppeed, and jsut look at all the mistakes. (I really did speak the last two sentences aloud as I typed them.) — It's dot com 15:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

I agree with the idea that Strong Bad must be an expert typist given his speed of typing. I'm less inclined to agree with removing the fact as a result of this, though. The fact that he can't type while blindfolded is a notable contradiction of his normally fine typing skills that I think is worth noting. I'd support rewording it not to say that he's a poor typist, but to still note that it's odd that he can't type while blindfolded. Heimstern Läufer 03:29, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Matt's Carpet?

Though it's just speculation, do we think that Matt was implying that the carpet in Strong Bad's Computer Room is based on his own carpet? Or simply that he created the graphic, perhaps? -StarLion 03:29, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
