Hey, E.L.! I never thanked you properly for that cool thing you did on my talk page, but here it is: thanks, man, you rule. ^_^ Well, I'm just as anxious as anyone else for the Decemberween cartoon, and until then, we're all counting down that magical time. Congratulations man. I've had a bank account over here since I was around 9. I don't think there is a legal age for that here. But you can't get a credit card until you're 19. In any case, congratulations on hitting the big one-eight. Thunderbird 19:38, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Sweet, sweet E.L Cool,
Today is the day on your user page.
Now, get downstairs—unh!
And fix me some supper.
No, wait. Forget the supper bit. I've just eaten.– The Chort 19:44, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
18, eh? I was that once... It seems to be a much bigger deal over there, I guess. It's been no different for me since, like, my 15th birthday or so. --DorianGray
Dude, y'all get to DRINK at 18? Man, we haveta wait until 21... Anyway, happy you're-now-officially-5-years-older-than-me! --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
So, Coolio, I'm'a need a translation of that Hebrew message. Also, be careful not to drink too many cold ones! Heimstern Läufer 21:02, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
Oh, and hearing all you guys makes me feel so old. I'm past all my landmark birthdays. (Well, I guess 25 is the quarter-of-a-century, and that's coming in May. Then there's 30, which is when everyone really realizes that you're an adult. But those don't count for as much as 18 and 21 etc.) Heimstern Läufer 21:05, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
I heard that it gets alot easier to rent a car after age 25, but that could just be a rumor. Next bonus-for-your-age after that is the senior's discount. Thunderbird 21:10, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
I guess birthdays mean different things to different people... 18 wasn't a big deal for me... And I don't see 21 being any different. --DorianGray
21 didn't actually matter that much to me either, since I don't drink. 18 was important since it meant I could vote. And, Thunderbird, you're right; it is easier to rent a car when you're 25, especially if you want to avoid hefty fees. As for waiting for the senior discount... well, 40 more years isn't that long! Heimstern Läufer 21:17, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
I just can't wait until I'm 16, because then I'm gonna get a ginormous cake. --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
Many congratulations! Lucky... I can't drink... — talk Bubsty edits 23:44, 23 December 2005 (UTC)

Wow! Thanks you guys. that's so sweet of you. I know my B-day party is only one week away, but I celebrated it anyway with two chicks and two bottels of wine. I'm feelin' woozy right now as I just came back. It's 2:42 and tomorrow my whole family is comming over. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 00:44, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

I probably shouldn't have said the sentance with with the wine. Thanks you, good night! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 00:44, 24 December 2005 (UTC)

18???

You can drink at 18 in Isreal??? In the U.S. You have to be 21!!!-- Benol, aka Coach B 19:49, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

Yes. Yes I can. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 19:50, 28 December 2005 (UTC)
It's 18 in Alberta, Canada as well. 19 in British Columbia, Canada. Thunderbird 00:11, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
Well, In the USA, You have to be 21 to vote or drink, but 18 lets you smoke cigarettes.-- Benol, aka Coach B 23:18, 29 December 2005 (UTC)
You can register to vote at 18. I never did, though. --DorianGray
Cigarettes... Yuch. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 01:00, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

Two Keyboards?

To type in Hebrew and English, do you need two keyboards, or do you have a special En/He Keyboard?-- Benol, aka Coach B 00:00, 30 December 2005 (UTC)

My brother-in-law does have random russian words printed on paper hung around his house though, with an english translation and an appropriate picture, as a learning aid. Awsome Users

PUT ME ON YOUR AWSOME USERS LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!TheThin 23:53, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

Ok. First of all, chill. No need to shout and type multiple numbers of exclamation marks for the purpose of wishing for a name to be included in a list. I'm sure that every user including you is awesome in his or hers own special way and for some reason should be included in this list, but as you can see, only a few did get to be listed. Why, do you ask yourself? Why they and not me? Well, first look at the sheer number of contributions each user have on this great wiki of ours. Second, look again at the list. Besides each name there is a reason for why I added it. May it be for the helping hand that they have given me times and times again, or may it be for a more personal reason non other that they are my friends. For this I'm sorry, The Thing, but at this point of time you a fit in neither category. If I was to add you to the list, what can I write beside your name? "The Thing - HE ASKED ME TO BE ON THIS LIST!!!!!!"? This is not proper. As Old Mr. Bubs once said: "They're free. But you gotta earn 'em!". Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:31, 5 January 2006 (UTC)

Now he did. Sub-page'd guestbooks are way better than bottom of the page. You have to actually read the userpage to find it, and it's less cluttersome. Thunderbird 21:43, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
Unless you are collecting sigs (something that I should be doing, if you know what I mean), guestbooks are still useless. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:09, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

For me to put you on my list? No. You got to help the wiki, not your userpage. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 18:45, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Ouch, The Thing blocked you for three days. You must be crushed. Thunderbird 22:49, 8 January 2006 (UTC)

I've been doing a bunch of things for the wiki. TheThin 14:20, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Good! you are getting the hang of it! As you can see, some of those edits were reverted. I suggest reading why was the reason for the revert so you can learn the ways of the wiki. Hang out in the Recent Changes page and see what other people are doing to help. I also strongly suggest you mainly (for now) see the edits done on the main name-space. To do it, open the drop-out box that can found over the date and click on (Main) and click Go. This action will redirect you here. Have fun! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:47, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Cool poem, El Coolio. But I don't think "Wiki" rhymes with "See". At least not the way I pronounce it. (Wick-E vs. Wee-Kee) Thunderbird 04:42, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, I'm sorry Mr. "I live in acountry that have 5 vawels that produce 5 different sounds but when you add two together you can have 25 formations of the same frickin' sounds, but slightly different that anyone not living it your country can't even tell the difference", I'm not from your country! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:59, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
I know. English is stupid. I didn't come up with it. One of my biggest pet peeves: Jennifer and General are pretty much the same sound at the beginning, so WHY THE DIFFERENT LETTER?!?!?!? And howcomes "Q" always needs a "U" behind it? Why didn't they just create a "QU" letter? Yeah, the "Most common language of the world" should have been better thought up. It's full of problems. Thunderbird 05:05, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't have problems with letters with the same sound. And for that other thing. I just have problems with all your made-up sounds. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:08, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
I'd like to point out that "wee-kee" is more-or-less the proper pronounciation, as it comes from the Hawaiian word wikiwiki, which mean "quick". "Wee-kee" is how it'd be pronounced in Hawaiian. See also: Wikipedia:Wiki --DorianGray

Languages to the masses

I'd like to point out the superiority of German over English in that it makes perfect sense from a phonetic perspective. None of that "rough, cough, through, though" crap. Heimstern Läufer 06:34, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

You're preaching to the choir man. Though english is useful to know, I wish I'd learned another one too. Oh well, too lazy/busy now. If I ever were to though, German or Hebrew would probably be two of the top choices (German because everything sounds so cool and authoritative, and Hebrew because I think i'd be kinda cool to read the bible in the original Hebrew, and because "Shaloam" is a rad word). Not only that, but I read somewhere that Korean is such a simple language, you can learn to read it in a day. You can't understand it, but you can read it outloud. That's also up there for the top learn'd language picks. Thunderbird 06:42, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
First of all, it's "Shalom", without the second A. Second, if you are going to learn Hebrew for the bible, don't even try to come near an Israeli living today. The bible Hebrew and the modern Hebrew are not one and the same and are completely different. The sentance structure changed alot through the days and alot of new words were only inevented in the beginning of the 20th century. I strongly reccomend reading the passage about Modern Hebrew. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:12, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, I know that. I'd assume you'd run into the same problems as reading the old king james version in english (Or should I say "ye olde King James") With all the thee's and thous, it's hard to make heads or tails of old english nowadays too, since it's changed so much. Still, it probably would be at least understandible...ish. And probably some of the Psalms would rhyme, or at least be in rythm. Thunderbird 06:41, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
The bible is understandble, atleast most of it, but it takes some time and a second reading to fully grasp it. I never read "ye olde King James", but I trust you with the thous and thees. Learn Hebrew, it's a fun language. And what we lack in made-up sounds we cover it up in other non-sense rules like the gander of numbers... bugh. I hate that stuff. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:49, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Have any of you ever attempted to read Old English? And I don't mean King James English; I mean the language of Beowulf. It's incomprehensible to the modern English speaker; in fact, its closer to modern German than it is modern English. Just an interesting commentary about changing languages. Heimstern Läufer 07:03, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
I read a bit from that article and it reminded me of some of the modern 1337-speak in it's degree of being comprehensible to "normal" English. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:36, 12 January 2006 (UTC)
Wow. No thanks, I'll just wait for the movie. Thunderbird 13:30, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

A familiar word

Hey there! I think it's awesome that you referred to Stu as an "Übergeek". I kid you not: I am wearing a T-shirt that has that exact word on it right now. (A friend gave it to me a couple years ago as a graduation present, saying it was the perfect T-shirt for me. And so it is.) Heimstern Läufer 08:46, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Being reffered to as "Übergeek" is something to take pride in. I choose this particular word after a conversation I had with the Stu about his job. If you want, you can ask him with what's his salary consists of. You'll be surprised. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:05, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Taking the time to umlaut "uber" definitely classifies both of you as such. ^-^ --DorianGray
Let me tell you, Dorian, seeing German words without proper umlauts is definitely in my bottom 10. Especially if it's my name. Seeing "Heimstern Laufer" just makes me want to swear a lot of bad cusses in German... OK, that was a bit übertrieben. Talk atcha later! Heimstern Läufer 07:04, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, I also have a freind who likes German (He doesn't speak any, but it comes naturaly to those who study World War II), and if he cought me not using a proper amlaute... ;) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:14, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh, I don't know. I just felt like running with references to funny translations and parodies thereof, so I make your cupcake a splode. I was just having fun. Keep having as many cupcakes as you want.
P.S.: This has been one of the funniest discussions I've been in for a while. And your rewrite of the Zero Wing introduction was very funny. Heimstern Läufer 07:41, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Chainmail

Ha ha, if you want to know about chain mail, get a myspace account. There's a part of it called a bulletin board, and all thats up there is chain mail. DBK! 19:18, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

What I asked for, is for someone who actualy practice the making of chainmail. I have enough resources on the interwebs for that kind of stuff. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 06:55, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Interestingly enough, I used to know someone who liked to make chain mail. On a very amateur level, mind you, but he definitely did make it. He allowed me to wear his chain mail glove several times. quite an experience! But I haven't seen him in about five years, so it doesn't help you too much, I suppose. Still, I thought you'd be interested to hear about it. Heimstern Läufer 07:01, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
Well, thanks anyway. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 07:11, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
I have a photo of when I went to Medieval Times, it's of somebody making chainmail, but it's kinda hard to see because of the flash. D'ya want it? --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)
What I really need now is a picture af a Japanese chain shirt, or a worrior dressed in one. Google had nothing. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, okay then. --אוקאלייליי (Ookelaylay)

Counting Contributions

Hey there, Elcool. I'm just wondering, how do you know how many contributions you made on the Wiki? Is there something somewhere that updates whenever you make an edit, or do you have to count the edits one by one? Has Matt? (talk) 00:48, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Good question. I know every user have a contributions page (like yours) but counting it can be tricky. I think it was Lapper who showed me how to do it and it's not that hard. [1] See that number at the end of the URL? This indecates how many edits are shown on the page. On the page itself you can see the line that says:
(Latest | Earliest) View (previous 500) (next 500) (20 | 50 | 100 | 250 | 500).
Just rise the number on the URL to how many edits you think you have. If you can click the link (next X) you edited more then the number you chose. If you can't then you edited less. Just play with it a bit untill you know about how much edits you've made. Have fun! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 00:59, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Oh, ok. Thanks! I was thinking it would be something like that. Has Matt? (talk) 01:08, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
You're weclome! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 01:12, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, that's what I do too. It's easier to count them by just rounding down to the nearest 500, and just checking every now and then to see how many 500's you can advance by. But to count exactly the right number it's easiest to count the larger numbers first, and when you can't count by them, just keep moving down the line. (As opposed to counting 20, 40, 60, 80, 100, etc). This way you have: 5 500's, 3 100's, 1 50, 2 20's, and the remainder of 8, for a grand total of 2898 edits thusfar. Keep up the good work. Thunderbird 08:34, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
There are many ways to play with those numbers. And these are two of them (Ohh! There's two of them!) Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:36, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
DOUBLE EDIT CONFLICT'D!: (Once by comment, once by archiving) Alright, I forgot to mention, it was alot easier to check with the previous version of MediaWiki. When you got to the end of the list it would tell you what number edit the list was starting with, so you could be accurate within 20 without even having to count. I'm not sure why they took that feature out... In any case, now you gotta put a bit more brainpower into counting them. Thunderbird 08:41, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry for the conflict there. Yeah, that's weird. Maybe try to contact the people at MediaWiki to add a contrib counter on the next version. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 08:49, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Good luck with class! --Stux 05:54, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Amen to that. I feel for yah, buddy. In other news, I had a curious type question. Do you have like three different mailing addresses, one for english, one for Hebrew, and one for arabic or something? I dunno, that question just kinda flashed into my head the other day, and it's been bugging me ever since. Thunderbird 09:18, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I don't get the question. Are you talking about a mailbox for mail written in English, one for mail written in Hebrew and so on; or that I have three addresses in which you can sand mail to, one address in each language? In both cases the answer is no. I have one address for all mail. You can write it in any language you want and it still be the same. I think I emailed you mine, no? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 11:43, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Sorry, I should have been clearer. What I meant was that what if your street name was something like "Thomas Street" or something? How would you translate a street name that isn't a word/doesn't have a hebrew translation into hebrew? Does your street name have like three different translations? And if your street name was a word that you could translate, like "Potato Salad St", would you translate it Phonetically or LiteralLy? It's hard to quite explain what I'm getting at, but hopefully I succeded this time. Because I'm pretty sure that if somebody tried to write my address out in Korean or something, it would never arrive. It's purely a curiosity-type question. Thunderbird 15:34, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Interesting question. Actually, the street name in English is a phonetic translation of the Hebrew name, not the litteral one. We all know that the capital of Israel is Jerusalem (ירושלים), but the street named after the city is written in the phonetic way: Yerushalaim St.. My street name will litteraly translated into The Hebrew Platoon St., but the sign will read HaGdud HaIvry St.. Does this answer your question? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:59, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I suppose so. I'm just glad it's all english here, even if it is "offically bi-lingual". Thunderbird 21:56, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

1D

About this edit, there is actually such a thing as one dimension! Because there is only one dimension (length), width and height don't exist in this dimension at all! As a result, the world is just one straight line. Everything that exists in this world is about the size of a small dot. They can only go left or right along the line. They can't jump or go past each other so if someone is in front of you, you get stuck! Weird, huh? – The Chort 17:15, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

You can say that again, but I already know that, thank you very much. What I was thinking, is that nothing can be 1D in the cartoon. If you can see it, then it's atleast 2D. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:24, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
That's right. 1D can't even exist in this dimension! If we draw a line, it still has a width so it is not truly 1D. – The Chort 17:27, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Correct, but answer me this? How do you know that there aren't a whole bunch of invisable, undetectable, 0-1D objects around us? We can't see then even with the most powerfull of microscope. Does that mean they don't exist? Elcool (talk)(contribs) 17:42, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
You have a point. I was just thinking logically. Perhaps there are 4D, 5D or even 6D objects everywhere around us! Somehow. The Chort 19:33, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Well that depends on your definition of a dimension. Some say that dimension isn't limited to tangible objects, and that we live our lives traveling in the 4th Dimension: Time. Then add to that the cyberspace dimension, the electrical dimension, and the cupcake dimension, and we've got quite a web of demenshi in our world. Thunderbird 23:34, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
So are you saying that gool ol' Heimstern is from the cupcake dimension? He seem to have a neverending supply of them. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:41, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

WA=UN?

Um your weird al wiki babel's initials are UN (the uncyclopedia's)... so you know. :) --Stux 15:01, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

I found and fixed the problem in the babel page. I'll go ahead and fix it in yours too, if you don't mind. --Stux 15:26, 8 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks man, I just had it with that talking toaster. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:24, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Hebrew

I left a message on my talk page on he.wikipedia, in case you're wondering... -- Terlet Brush 15:45, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Oh, yeah. I saw that. But I was kinda in a rush and forgot to reply. Thanks again! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 16:25, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

Can someone help me find a good online Hebrew to English Tranlator/Dictionary? --Dacheatbot · Communicate

Here's one. You can only do a few translations a day if you don't pay for it, and I don't know how accurate it is. But at least it's something. Thunderbird 03:15, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
It's accurate in the sense that if a native Hebrew reader read what you translated, he will understand what you wanted to write. It is also inaccurate in the sense that sentence structure, tenses, etc. are all messed up. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 04:41, 28 February 2006 (UTC)
I just used it and I don't think it's right. I did רמא... and got ;;;said. --Dacheatbot · Communicate
Works ok for me. I think it takes slang a little too literal. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 10:48, 28 February 2006 (UTC)

Quick note

Hi E.l.Cool! what's up? I just wanted to let you know, you gotta be careful when reverting page move trolls: the page you moved to was orginally called The Brothers Chaps and not The Brothers Chap. We cannot move it back without and admin to do it. Oh and good morning! --Stux 15:32, 11 February 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I noticed it and already informed BazookaJoe and HSRusername via IRC. But thanks for noticing! Elcool (talk)(contribs) 15:35, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
oh ok! no problem! Thanks for letting them know. Now they have to contend with my mess in trying to sort things. --Stux 15:40, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
