In regards to your post...

In regards to your post on HRWiki talk:Toon loading problems, under "Status of Toons", you wrote "only sbemail privileges". By that, did you mean that privileges was the only cartoon that worked or did not work? I would like it if you would please reword your results to avoid confusion. Thanks,

www. not part of the domain...

Just so you're aware, homestarrunner is actually the domain name... www. is the prefix and .com is the suffix. Technically, that article should only say homestarrunner, and not have either the prefix or the suffix. Also note that if homestarrunner.com allowed you to login, you would quickly find out that www.homestarrunner.com and homestarrunner.com are both different domain names if you say otherwise. Yes, www.homestartunner.com and homestarrunner.com go to the same place. However, go to any domain name registrar and try to register "www.homestarrunner.com" ... you can't. "www" is a subdomain. I changed that article because it says "December 6, 1999 — Registered the domain name ..." and "www" is not a part of an actual domain name. It is, as I said, a subdomain. Believe me, I used to work for a domain name registrar. It goes www = subdomain, homestarrunner.com = domain name. ".com" is actually the top-level domain (TLD), but that nomenclature is not noted unless referring to only the TLD by itself. Avalyn 06:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
Regardless, a subdomain is still not part of the domain name, it's an add-on. You also should link to the correct page and section on Wikipedia. ColdReactive 15:03, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
The article is correct with Avalyn's changes. You can only register "homestarrunner.com", not "www.homestarrunner.com" or "homestarrunner". Apart from that, "www.homestarrunner.com" is a domain name because every subdomain is a domain itself. Note that "homestarrunner.com" is also a subdomain. Loafing 20:25, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
But I simply can't just put in com to my web browser and get a website (instead, I'll be redirected here.) ColdReactive 08:22, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
You can't just put "homestarrunner" into your web browser either. Homestarrunner.com is the domain name. --Garfunkel 16:04, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Or if you can, it's because your browser is doing the work for you, automatically trying common TLDs in succession until it finds a working site. — It's dot com 17:00, 30 July 2010 (UTC)
Which is the behavior of most non-Mozilla browsers. (Firefox searches google via addressbar if no "suffix" is given, and if given, and it does not exist, DNS Error or ISP DNS error search page appears.) ColdReactive 04:28, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
