another weather freak?!?!

So you like weather, do ya? Awesome! It's nice to see another weather person on here. As for me, in August, I'm going to begin working on my Master's in Atmospheric Science at The University of Alabama at Huntsville. Weather is most certainly my life.

-Ty "StrongRad" Martin

Hey sweet, your Masters. Congratulations. I don't know where I am going to go to college yet, but Central Michigan University is my first choice. --BazookaJoe 13:01, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Joe, thought you would enjoy reading this, it's got some really funny stuff in it. Bad Meteorology FAQ from Penn State. Or, for awexsome weather photography, and some funny weather rants, check out SPC forecaster Roger Edwards' page, Storm Eyes.-StrongRad
Oooo, thanks! —BazookaJoe 12:18, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Great job!

I'm really starting to notice how much work you've been doing here. I feel that you're a big reason why this wiki stays clean of trolls, as well as keeping Recent Changes looking nice and patrolled. You get a big pat on the back for all the work you give into the wiki. Great jorb! —FireBird|Talk 22:51, 3 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Thank you, FireBird! -BazookaJoe 23:12, 3 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Just letting you know

I noticed you changed my signature on the Cheat Commandos O's STUFF page, but I changed my signature so that it's supposed to be three tildes. A little insider joke, I guess. Also, I second FireBird's comment above, you really are doing good stuff for all of us here. [[User:Some HSR themed username|BazookaJoe]] (Some HSR themed username) 02:56, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Where'd it go?

According to your user page, you created the DVD commentary transcript for the bet, but it doesn't appear to be present. Did you forget to type it up? Might want to fix that before someone takes the lack of a transcript's presence for the lack of a transcript and robs you of your glory!

Keep on tranglin', Larry Pat-no, Suicune64 14:48, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Suicune64: I read "Writing DVD commentary transcript for the bet." Present tense. Also note the "Currently working on" at the top of that list. -- Tom 14:50, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I did see the present tense, but I can say one of my accomplishments was "writing something," so that's not what I missed. The part I did miss was the "Currently working on". D'oh. Suicune64 15:43, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Yes, actually, I have yet to start writing the commentary transcript for the bet, because my DVD player is acting up with disc 3. -BazookaJoe 14:53, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

STUFFing

Don't beat yourself up. It was good work for a first time. Good prize! I saw your mistake and was tempted to fix it, but I decided to let you figure it out. It's the only way we truly learn. — It's dot com 22:37, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I got it working, finally! I've been putting it off, but I knew sooner or later, I would have to teach myself how to STUFF. Ah, I am so proud of myself. -BazookaJoe 22:38, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I'm always interested in feedback to help make the process smoother... Was there anything that should be tweaked? — It's dot com

JOE! Are YOU awake yet? It's dot com isn't, and I want the discussion on my page to start. If possible, can you notify other people about the discussion? Thanks. Thechamp 12:39, 24 Jul 2005 (UTC)
No. Your talk page is not meant to be a place to hang out and talk about nothing in particular. There are chat programs and forums for that. —BazookaJoe 12:49, 24 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Yaeh I know, but I need a limited select few people to voice thier opinion on the topic I chose, you see, I happen to trust your opinion, it's not evan that big a deal, it's just an idea I had once in 2004 about a cartoon, I was never emailed back by the chapmans and wanted to know if my idea is good. if you wish to hear my idea, please go talk about it on my page, if you could care less, than have it your way. Thank you. -Thechamp 13:30, 24 Jul 2005 (UTC)

pi

what do you mean, incorrect numbers?

Strong Bad's record was 13.4 seconds, not 31.4 seconds. So it can't be a reference to pi. —BazookaJoe 17:43, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)

oops sorry Smileyface11945 17:44, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)

That's all right. —BazookaJoe 17:45, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Am I reading this right? Pi is 13.4 isn't it? Since when is pi 31.4?--Sultn 07:31, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Pi is 3.14. Well actually, it's 3.1415926535897932384626... etc., but generally rounded to 3.14. -Polly 07:36, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Oh I mixed 13.4, with 31.4, silly me.--Sultn 07:51, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Actually, what you've done is mixed 13.4 with 31.4, and then 31.4 with 3.14. Pi = three point one four. -Polly 07:58, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Redirects and double-redirects

Strong Sad smile

Um, is there any particular reason you keep deleting my addition to "The Secrets That I Keep"? I mean, I don't think I've ever seen SS smile anywhere else; isn't that significant enough to be included?

Aside from him smiling in radio, there is also a photo of him smiling in record book. Similar fun facts about "This is the only time we see Strong Sad smiling except for this, that, and the other time" have been rejected in the past. —BazookaJoe 01:48, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Huh! Son of a gun, I didn't even notice that photo until you mentioned it! Sorry bout that. :-)
Not just those—while Strong Sad is still no shining example of contentness, he's been smiling a lot more lately than he used to. --Jay (Talk) 02:27, 27 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Roll of duct tape vs. (American) football

Hi, BazookaJoe. I noticed you reverted my edit for one of the bonus videos on the new Disc 4 release of Strong Bad Emails. I would just like to point out that I confirmed this fact about the duct tape before I changed it on the wiki because I recently purchased the DVD and noticed this discrepancy. If you simply did this in error, I understand. To futher justify me reverting your edit, I took this screen shot:
ducttape6pr.jpg
I never knew footballs had holes in them emotongue.gif —THE PAPER PREEEOW 02:37, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I always assumed it was a football. It wasn't until you reverted me that I double checked and found I was wrong! Buh! Duh! Fuh! Interestingly enough, NYU Talk - 1 Mar 2005 transcribed the exact same footage and noted that the object was a "ball." I bet Tom had a hard time telling the difference as well. "When you assume..." —BazookaJoe 02:50, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Wasn't me. The Paper transcribed that. Heh. -- Tom 02:54, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
What an ironic twist to this story. Anyway, I think such an anomaly as a flying roll of duct tape still constitutes a reference to Sample of Style, even though it is not a football. —BazookaJoe 02:58, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Very much so, BazookaJoe. Anyway, I restored the fun fact you added, and I only slightly changed the wording because I also feel it is a reference to the first Sample of Style: "An object is also tossed to Mike in "Sample of Style," except in that instance, he catches it (a football)." Can we agree on this? Maybe there's a better way to say this? Thanks. —THE PAPER PREEEOW 03:07, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Of course I agree. Done and done. I might change word choice in the fun fact when I feel inspired. Or maybe someone else will. I stayed up too late last night waiting for the wiki to come back up. —BazookaJoe 03:11, 2 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Question

At the risk of sounding like a hipocrit, why are you just letting people write on YOUR user page, oh and thanks for welcoming me, one question, though, were is the list of users?Sultn 05:37, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

This is my talk page, where people can talk to me about the goings-on at the wiki. Everyone has a talk page and a main user page. Your talk page is the one I welcomed you on. My userpage is here: User:BazookaJoe. A complete list of users can be found at Special:Listusers. I hope that answers your questions. —BazookaJoe 05:54, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Oh I didn't know this was your talk page, I thought this was your main user page, thanks for answering my question--Sultn 06:22, 4 Aug 2005 (UTC)

do over revert

Why?

Strong Bad does say "fat little body" and not "fine." If it is not obvious, it can be deduced from the context: Strong Bad tries to serenade Ali and Ali's sister, but fails terribly by instead singing about his characteristic flaws. —BazookaJoe 00:19, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
This is kind of changing the subject, since it's definitely not "fine", but what if it's "phat"? Just a thought. — It's dot com 00:27, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
What if it's phat? Then we have a big argument and place a stupid footnote on the page. O.o —BazookaJoe 00:32, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Then I won't tell if you won't. I don't want to wake the beast. — It's dot com 00:42, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Laugh Out Loud. I'll change the heading title, too. —BazookaJoe 00:46, 5 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for adding that troll to the list for me. That was my first troll. Rogue Leader / (my talk)

No probalo. On my first troll, I added it to the list the same way you did. You'll get the hang of it. —BazookaJoe 03:30, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Bazooka man, what exactly are trolls and what do they do and what can I do about them? Leav a section in my talk page if you want to help me. Thechamp 14:20, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Okay, this is annoying me now.

How about instead of just reverting it with the ubiquitous "rv", you try editing whatever the person has added so it fits your rigorous standards, or at least provding a reason once in a while. You know, just swatting away other people's thoughts and ideas without even providing them with the luxury of a reason is a good way to piss people off.

Okay, I'll do that a little more. By the way, that fact had an extra word, little punctuation, and wasn't a glitch in the first place. —BazookaJoe 22:51, 6 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Trolled (again)

Rogue Leader, I'm not sure what you mean when you say he's patrolling his own edits. — It's dot com 03:51, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Quick answer: He's not; it's me; anonnys can't patrol. —BazookaJoe 03:51, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)
Joe, it's too bad one or both of us can't block this troll and others like him. (Well, that's sexist. I guess it could be a her. But I always imagine the trolls are guys. It's like the male/female ratio in prison way favors the men, doesn't it?) — It's dot com 03:55, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I thought that he was going to the recent changes page, hitting the diff button, and patroll his edits. Now I know that Annonys can't vote. Rogue Leader / (my talk)

Shark-Tooth Bubs

Hi, BazookaJoe. Thanks again for the complement you gave me the other day. Anyway, I was going to ask if you still think we should merge the new Shark-Tooth Bubs article with the the big Bubs page. The reason I ask is that recently a lot more information has been added to the article and the most significant argument for its separation is the fact that is was a factory error/mistake.

I also want to thank you for giving me the "inspiration" to make the article since I saw the comment you made about adding a new section. I left a reply for you as well if you haven't seen it yet. One more thing, what do you think about creating one huge puppet article? —THE PAPER PREEEOW 21:56, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Um, isn't there a discussion about this on Talk:Shark-Tooth Bubs? But never mind. Shark-Tooth certainly deserves a page more than the other puppets. He is not the same as regular Bubs (Shark-Tooth has a different look and voice actor). On the other hand, the other puppets are just "real" versions of the cartoons. — It's dot com 22:00, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)
The opinions of the many outweigh the opinions of the few. I'm fine with that part. As for an all-puppets page, I'm neutral at this point. —BazookaJoe 22:23, 7 Aug 2005 (UTC)

You don't have to feel terrible about trying to limit editing. Personally, I think the newly created page was written and formatted extremely well as far as new pages go, and didn't need a whole lot of editing done to it. Heck, you wrote the whole article and actually made the page, so you get the credit for making it. Nice work —BazookaJoe 00:30, 20 Sep 2005 (UTC)

How's it goin'?

Hey, Joe. Our paths have intersected in the past few weeks (I see we even fought some trolling together), but it's been like ships passing in the night. How's school? How's the job? How's Joe? — It's dot com 19:33, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Well, if it isn't my internet twin Dot com! You're so cool for asking. School and everything related to it keeps me busy. Busy, busy, busy. Work is great. Like it a lot. Myself, I'm doing fine for the most part. Always find time for a little H*R now and then. Appropriately, today I've started to develop a productive cough, so I am feeling a little ill in that area. My mother has had a nasty cold thingy for weeks, as well as everybody in West Michigan. Don't know if this cold outbreak extends all the way down to Texas, or Atlanta for that matter. But, yeah. I visited Central Michigan University two Saturdays ago. Loved checking out the meteorology department's room and hallway. There's about 50 undergrads in that program and 3 professors, which is good for me. Going to visit Grand Valley State University this Saturday to see if they can accommodate me for one year before transferring. I haven't officially decided on going to CMU, but at this point, I really can't see me going anywhere else. Well, I told you about me, now how about you? —BazookaJoe 19:53, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)
I'm doing well. We don't seem to have the cold bug down here, mainly 'cause it's still pretty hot. I'm busy, but the first part of each month isn't as bad workload-wise as the last half, so that's a plus. Yesterday I drove to Arlington and back (total driving time 10 hours) to watch the Rangers conclude the 2005 season. It was bittersweet. As for the postseason, I have my second-favorite Yankees to fall back on as well as the other Texas team, the Astros. If the two should meet in the World Series, I will be really torn as to whom to root for. I can't even give a good guess.
Why would you want to go somewhere else your first year? Speaking of the weather, how is it doing? Do we still have a chance to get to Alpha? — It's dot com 20:07, 3 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Well, the season is past its peak, but its not officially over until Nov. 30. Four more named storms are what is needed to get to Alpha, and I think it's unlikely there will be that many. It really starts to get quiet in October. Fun Fact: Stan is only the second time an S name has been used in the Atlantic, after Sebastian of 1995. —BazookaJoe 01:07, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Howdy BzJ. Regarding your recent sickness, I know how you feel. We've been having this real tough Canadian cold going around here for a few weeks now, and it just started on me. Plus to add to that it dipped below freezing for the first time this winter, so I had to scrape the frost off my winshield this morning at 6:00 am, while wrestling with a cold. Not fun. Hopefully it'll get bad enough by tomorrow or Thursday though that I'll be able to call in to work sick. In other news, Canucks's first regular season hockey game is tomorrow. Well, seya guys around. Of course, the morning after I say that, Tropical Storm Tammy forms, breaking the record for earliest formation of a season's nineteenth tropical storm (previous record October 25, 1933). This is only the second time a T name has been given to an Atlantic storm, after Tanya of 1995. Tanya was the last named storm of 1995. —BazookaJoe 19:20, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

He's added the same redundant Fun Fact three times now. Should we give him a one hour block or a note on his talk page or something? Thunderbird 02:01, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Definitely not an outright block. If the person persists and does not catch any reasons for reversion in the edit summaries, a note on the talk page will be necessary. —BazookaJoe 02:04, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)
In either case, it's pretty funny watching the two of you battle edits. Maybe just a two minute block?  :) Thunderbird 02:05, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)
Meh. —BazookaJoe 02:14, 5 Oct 2005 (UTC)
