Signature help

Hey, Bluebry muffin! It be me again. I noticed you signed my guestbook. Even if you don't have a signature yet (you can get one by following the instructions here), you can still provide a link to your page and a timestamp by typing four tildes, like this: ~~~~. That will turn out like this: Has Matt? (talk) 01:35, 14 January 2006 (UTC). Three tildes will do just the sig without a timestamp, and five tildes will do just the timestamp. Good luck and happy wiki... ing! Has Matt? (talk) 01:35, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Yup. By the way, there's no kind of pressure to create a customized signature; I haven't and don't intend to. But the tildes still work; for instance, when I do four I get... —AbdiViklas 01:59, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Hey! I noticed you're working on one already. It's a little long right now, though. The guidelines for sigs are still under discussion, but you can find them at HRWiki talk:Standards#Signatures (Final Version). And if you're really curious, you can read the incredibly long discussions on the page above that section! —AbdiViklas 02:36, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, that's true Mabye I should delete it. I don't really want to use. -Bluebry muffin aka Bluebry muffin

I see that an anonymous user blanked your signature. Was that you? In case it wasn't, I reverted it for security reasons. Normally, if you want to delete a subpage like your signature, just add {{delete|user requests deletion}} to the page while you are logged in. But you can give me the word right here, and I can take care off it right now. —BazookaJoe 14:13, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Hey thanks! But uh, don't worry. It was me. My account accidentally logged out. But uh, thanks BazookaJoe. Bluebry muffin 14:15, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
You're welcome. By the way, "bluebry" is one of my favorite things that Homestar says. Did you know he said it in Puppets on the Road, too? —BazookaJoe 14:26, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I didn't know that Puppets on the Road existed. Thanks again! Bluebry muffin 14:30, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Oohhhhhh, that's where you got it. I forgot aboot that. SaltyTalk! 15:02, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

That's where I got what? Bluebry muffin 15:06, 14 January 2006 (UTC)
Hey, does anyone know how to add images to a signature? From other sites? I have a site, and I could upload a Signature Pic to it to save space on the wiki's server. Bluebry muffin 20:16, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

Other stuff!

And uh The thing was the first person to give me there favorite sbemail.TheThin 14:41, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

On other stuff you should put for example The thing in stead of User:The thingTheThin 14:49, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

If you published your story, I'd buy it. DBK! 17:02, 15 January 2006 (UTC)

Screen=shot!

Hey! If you're going to join the project of putting "screenshot" tags on images, please try to remember to say so in the edit summaries. There tend to be a lot of them at once, and those of us hanging out in recent changes won't have to check them out if you do. Thanks! —AbdiViklas 01:25, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

Easter eggs

I found 6! TheThin 15:32, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

I got 8 with the Tab key. LePorello / T / C 12:36, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Email Rap

Did you get the reference to my Strong Bad Email Rap? It's the one with my name on it. -Marth 99 15:33, 16 January 2006 (UTC) (Hint: my page might give you some help for the solution)

Tangerine Dreams pics

Hey there, Bluebry muffin. I noticed you are making a gallery of Tangerine Dreams pictures. There are two more that you haven't used. They are Image:Powered Tangerine.PNG and Image:Tandy logo.PNG. You don't have to use these, I just thought they might be of assistance. Okay, bye-dee-bye! Has Matt? (talk) 02:06, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

HI

Hey Bluebry, just wanted to say hi!

Hi. Bluebry 15:44, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi.

Props

Nice to see you on those two committees, particularly the welcoming one. But what I really wanted to say was nice job with that poster picture for Halloween Fairstival. —AbdiViklas 02:22, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Yes

In regards to your question about Two-Bit in The Outsiders, you are correct! The phrase I used was actually from the movie, but still. --Nintendostar_Runner

Papadox?

In your Tangerine Dreams gallary, you refer to the Tangerine Dreams creating a "papadox". Is that a typo for "paradox", or did you mean to say papadox? I would just go ahead and change it, but I'm not positive you didn't mean to say papadox. I mean, after all, it is kind of a catchy word. Nice userpage by the way, very impressive. Thunderbird 06:07, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

About the Tangerine Dreams stuff. My brother has a computer exactly like that (except blue), and I could probably get a pic of it. Thekillerdynamo 03:01, 23 January 2006 (UTC)
Here it is:

Image:Killerdynamocompy.jpg Thekillerdynamo 03:04, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Oh, and I believe that Bubsty named that computer "Aquamarine Dreams". Just in case you want to know. Heimstern Läufer 03:06, 23 January 2006 (UTC)

Third-party opinion

Do you think the song that Strong Bad sang in portrait sounds similar to the sang from Fall Float Parade? I was thinking of getting it STUFF'd, but I don't know how to do that. I sent a similar message to two other users, but neither of them replied... does it take that long to figure it out? Anydangway, get back to me ASAP. --Nintendostar_Runner

Welcoming

Would you mind not welcoming people with suspicious names (unless they make a good edit) until this attack is over? Thanks. —BazookaJoe 02:02, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Don't feel bad about it. You've gained valuable wiki experience. Level up! This vandal is known as Willy on Wheels (further reading: 1, 2). The attack has subsided, so you may welcome again. The lessons learned for next time: watch out for strange names created during a time when many others are being created. Watch the recent changes page for a flurry of page moves and deletions (you'll see "Move log", "Deletion log", "Block log", and "...ON WHEELS!" a lot). Determining which new users might be good and which might be bad comes with experience. —BazookaJoe 02:39, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

Willy on Wheels!

Yesterday's attack made me think, is there any way to stop WoW? User:Bluebry muffin/chairscoot 02:46, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Anybody?
Unless we ban all new-user creation (which we would NEVER do), I guess the answer is no. Even if we block all WoW accounts, he'll always be coming back to create new ones. Now, I'm not a sysop or anything, so don't hit me if I turn out to be wrong, but I'm prooty sure that WoW is here to stay. Has Matt? (talk) 13:33, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Gots an idea. What if we make it so that no one can move a page title with the words on wheels? Even if it's like, Bluebry muffin WHEELS! ON? Is it possible in the wiki software? User:Bluebry muffin/chairscoot 23:32, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I suspect Dot com and Tom would have thought of that long ago if it were possible. People have been debating how to stop him for a while (and not just here, but also at Wikipedia). Rest assured, our admin team will do everything they can to stop him. Remember that anyone can revert his page moves, so do that if you see him attack. Heimstern Läufer 23:40, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
We can't stop him. We can simply outlast him. —BazookaJoe 23:42, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Yep. But, what if we set a limit to how many new users are allowed in a day? Bluebry 23:43, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
If we did that, he'd still register as many usernames as we allowed and this would block legit users from registering. Heimstern Läufer 23:46, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
What if, we created a bot, and if it ever detected the text "on wheels" in a page's title, it would delete the "On wheels" part to revert it back to it's original state. User:Bluebry muffin/chairscoot 23:49, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
No. Humans > Bots. If I were WoW, I'd just not move a page to "ON WHEELS". —BazookaJoe 23:51, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
Yes, but bots can work 24/7, with no food, no money, and no chance of becoming a WoW. User:Bluebry muffin/chairscoot 23:53, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
You're right. But that doesn't change my previous answer. —BazookaJoe 23:55, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
{edit conflict} Have you noticed that none of WoW's vandalism ever lasts more than a two minutes? This is because we have committed users who will revert at a moment's notice. Bazooka Joe and I staved off (1, 2, 3) that first attack on Wednesday in a few moments. Therefore, we don't need bots to help. We can do this ourselves. Heimstern Läufer 23:59, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
I know, but isn't it important for us to keep HRWiki vandalism-free? It's a persons job if you're on the Recent Changes Patrol, a sysop, and most importantly, a user. Bluebry 00:15, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
So... what are you saying? —BazookaJoe 00:27, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, that's true. It's just the intelligence factor of a human. We could have a WoW patrol, specifically made for that job. We could lock page moving. You could still move a page, but you have to get approval. User:Bluebry muffin/chairscoot 23:58, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

That's just not the wiki way. Heimstern Läufer 23:59, 27 January 2006 (UTC)
What about a blocking bot? Iknow, human > bot. But this idea is to give sysops more time to do more things other than blocking WoWs. You know, if a user moves a page to anything with "on wheels" it will automatically block that user or IP. User:Bluebry muffin/chairscoot 00:03, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
That is technically possible (as is the move idea above), but it's not a practical solution. He would simply change his method to "on wheelz" or something. — It's dot com 00:09, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
How bout "on eel"? Bluebry 00:11, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
That would have the same problem. Trust me, if there were a way for a bot to find and revert sophisticated vandalism, they would have long ago implemented it. Wikipedia is covered in discussions on the topic. — It's dot com 00:17, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I guess that would be true. Bluebry 00:20, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
You notice he always creates multiple user names at one time. What if we made it so that if there are five new users in 45 seconds, new user creation is temporarily blocked for five minutes. Bluebry 00:25, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
How will that prevent anything? —BazookaJoe 00:27, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
'Cause you guys gotta block and delete and move things back, and that may take some time. Also, editing will be turned off for users who registered 45 seconds ago for that five minutes. Bluebry 00:36, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
But the point is that WoW is easy to revert from and his attacks rarely last very long. What's the point of denying user freedoms to prevent vandalism that takes five minutes or less to revert? Homestar Coderhomestar-coder-sig.gif 01:35, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

That's true. Mabye he could be in league with NSMC? Just an idea. 172.135.225.78 01:44, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

No way. These people couldn't know each other. It's just out of the question. Even if he did, then he would know how to create a powerful bot just like NSMC. WoW isn't that bad compared to NSMC. Seriously (Talk) 01:52, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

I think this guy is User:Trollbrother2 on the hr wooky he makes dumb pages on wheels. TheThin 01:53, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
Possibly. Mabye we should work on ways to stop NSMC first. Forever young, Chester Elegante
Actually, we have banned all new user creation before, Has Matt?. I remember I wanted to join, and it said all new user creation was temporarily canceled. It would be VERY un-wiki to ban all new user creation for a 2 minute attack, but what if he goes for longer? What if he attacks for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, mabye he'll go for an hour. This is why he has to be stopped. Sure he hasn't caused much, if any, damage yet, but he'll grow stronger, which is why he's a threat to any wiki out there. Look guys, this is helping all other wikis out there. Bluebry 23:17, 28 January 2006 (UTC)

Sbemail 28

Um what about Sbemail 28? Like, how many stars, man? Bluebry 02:58, 3 February 2006 (UTC)

I'd say, on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, 'bout 3 1/2. But ignoring the time period, it probably would have been four, or if it's lucky, five. --Nintendostar_Runner

Help.

Bluebry, look. I need help. I added a new section to my page. Tell Has Matt? about this new section once you're done reading it. Thi- This is the last-- I need ideas. Bluebry. This is Nintendostar, and I need ideas. --Nintendostar_Runner

What help?? TheThin 16:38, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
He needs ideas. Bluebry 19:05, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
Okay, just a couple things. Number A, what's with the "he"? It has now become abundantly clear that I am so paranoid about giving away my personal info that I have not specified that I am indeed a female. Fact 2: Thanks for the suggestions. That's a pretty good idea, a lion/tiger/liger. The only problem is, during the few days I have not been able to come (darn homework!) I came up with a panther form, so now I'm not sure whether I should use another big cat. --Nintendostar_Runner
Sorry 'bout that. Ummm, look over there! It's a car! (Points to a car and runs away. Hitches a bus ride a Oaxaca. El Senor Bluebry Muffin viva en un apartemento está cerco de el Zócalo.) Bluebry 00:35, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Forgiven. Nintendostar_Runner Oh, wait, are you fluent in Spanish?
Oh, I don't need a translation. I'm just taking Spanish at school, so I couldn't help but notice your little thing at the end of your "I'm a girl" reaction. If ever I needed a translation, I could just go to my parents. --Nintendostar_Runner

South Gate?

Hey Bluebry, I just saw your comment on Has Matt?'s page and was wondering: Are you really from South Gate? Or did you just take the name of the city from depressio? Heimstern Läufer 00:03, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Quotes

Hey Bluebry. Can we add are own wuotes to that "Quotes that should exist" list? SaltyTalk! 01:05, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

WikiTroll

Anybody is free to report a troll on HRWiki:WikiTroll. But there is this to keep in mind: if the troll has already been seen or blocked by a sysop, then it really doesn't have to be reported. —BazookaJoe 03:32, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
