You sig looks pretty cool and colorful. How did you do it (make it shady, I don't mean Bubs' shadiness), may I ask?

:Thanks. I wrote a script a long time ago that generates the html necessary to display a gradient (that's the technical term for what you call "shady"). Basically, it's just each letter being a slighty different color than the previous one and shifting gradually (get it? GRADual, GRADient?) from one color to another. {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 22:23, 1 January 2017 (UTC)

At least one member of TBC did cover Daniel Johnston's song "Some Things Last a Long Time" under the name Mark Margarine (see http://www.thoraxcorp.com/mp3s/Mark%20Margarine/Covers%20Annex/, though they attribute it to Built to Spill instead), but you're probably right that it's too much of a stretch. --JohnnyLurg 21:03, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

I searched the wiki for other references before reverting. It still seems too much of a stretch, unless they say so in a commentary or something. — Defender1031*Talk 21:10, 2 December 2014 (UTC)

Ideas

I'm gonna throw an idea out here.

  • I think I've mentioned it before but HR says a lot of unusual similes. Like "Fresh as a bagel", "Pure as a mountain goat" and "like falling of a web van". I'll try to think of more, but it seems to be a unique part of his vernacular style.

You'd probably remember examples I forgot. I was wondering if you thought this was notable and/or pageworthy. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 06:05, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Interesting idea. I'll try to come up with some more. "two breads in a biscuit" is a good one. And "smack it like a newborn's biscuit". There's probably more. I'm surprised we don't have a page on it, it's a pretty clear running joke. — Defender1031*Talk 06:11, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Awesome. I'll go do some "research". I love how we can call watching cartoons "research". --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 06:13, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Heh. Research. I often wonder why I bother. Then I remember how much fun it is. Anyway, it's much easier to create a page for something like Confetti or Grapes, because you can just search the wiki for all occurrences of the term. These jokes which follow a similar pattern are much harder to find and much harder to ensure completeness for, and require, as you say, research. — Defender1031*Talk 06:16, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
I'll do confetti. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 06:19, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
Oh, the point wasn't "do confetti, don't bother with the hard ones", it was just an observation about different kinds of pages. — Defender1031*Talk 06:20, 14 August 2015 (UTC)
I mean I'll do confetti right now, since it will be quicker. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 06:30, 14 August 2015 (UTC)

Clean Ups

Sorry you and CatJaz have to clean up my TBD summer cleaning. I felt like the list needed to be trimmed but I guess I neglected some templates. Hopefully my "executive judgement" for merge/deletion consensus was mostly accurate. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 04:43, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

Also, you should really archive your talk page. It's kind of annoying to scroll all the way down. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 04:50, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Looks like DeFender used to archive his talk pages annually. But, it seems he got bored of that idea seven years ago. - Catjaz63 04:53, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
It's 99 kilobytes long. That's a lot of bytes. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 04:57, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
I'll do it as soon as I catch up with all your edits... If I ever can catch up. — Defender1031*Talk 04:58, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Sorry! I'll be more careful next time. Hopefully now we actually discuss these articles for discussion... --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 05:00, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Sorry for what? Careful about what? I rarely know what you're talking about, Coach Z. — Defender1031*Talk 05:02, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
For the inconvenience I guess. Er, gyorse. ;) --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 05:10, 16 August 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I finally caught up with both your edits and my own talk page archive. Level up! — Defender1031*Talk 06:08, 16 August 2015 (UTC)

WTC

With regards to my "what the heck" edit, I reverted it because I figured a non-cropped image including the text we wanted was better than the alternative. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 20:06, 22 August 2015 (UTC)

Ah. Didn't realize the anonny was you, and didn't realize why t image summary was being changed. Now it makes sense! — Defender1031*Talk 20:24, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
Why did you revert the image back? No text was being removed or obscured and there are no fragments of the border. - Catjaz63 20:37, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
Just realised that I didn't capture it with VCR-Have. WHOOPS - Catjaz63 20:40, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
Shhh, I don't want people to know my IP address! (Whistles) --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 04:21, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
I freakin hate when I accimedentally do use my anon account and then accidentally say it was me not knowing I wasn't logged in. Dammit. --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 04:23, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
Broncotroll - Didn't it make you write a CAPTCHA? That's a sure sign you're not logged in. The Knights Who Say Ni 05:11, 24 August 2015 (UTC)

Your revision of the Record Store Day subtitles

Why did you undo my edit? I watch Homestar cartoons without sound all the time, and there are instances where the "hide text and then display text for some reason" effect actually causes me to miss a word or phrase. In almost all cases, it's completely unnecessary and just looks tacky. MichaelXX2 mail_icon.gif link_icon.gif 20:34, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Those are there for a reason, namely to simultaneously not spoil the joke until the point where the punchline is said, and also show the punchline on the screen in the context of the full sentence. I see no reason to remove them, and it was not appropriate for you to unilaterally decide to do so without discussing it first. I'm also unsure why this conversation is going on on my talk page rather than somewhere more relevant (like on the subtitles page for that toon, or on the project page for subtitles as a whole). — Defender1031*Talk 21:01, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello!

Hi defender! Sorry I'm a bit out of practice here as you can see. I sort of drifted into the big pedia. I hope you are staying safe and happy! --Image:Homsariconformysig.gifBroncoTroll 18:32, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Why DON'T we do that?

Are you saying that my transcript edits are too much? How can they? I'm just adding things that weren't described before.
If we all of a sudden lose this video from the website or the Internet, who else will people rely on?
There are still a lot of things to edit on this website, and I don't see how they will be edited if we don't talk this out. Eh?
