Uploading a Picture

Hey, welcome to the wiki! Glad to see you're eager to help out. Just so you know, sometimes the same picture is used in several places across the wiki, and it is often detrimental to change a picture in the file name; the effect could be good in some places and bad in others. On the left side of the screen, under the search box, there is a "toolbox" menu. If you would like to upload a different version of the existing picture, you can click on "Upload file" in that menu. That way you can change the name for the purpose, and the picture won't replace the existing picture everywhere that it doesn't need to be replaced. As for what you're working on right now, I think it's a good idea for the picture in Strong Bad Evolution to have a transparent background, so you can upload it there and just change the name on the page to which picture it uses. Transparency

I get that you think it's preferable to have transparent pictures, but I'm afraid your methods leave much to be desired, and you frequently leave artifacts of the backgrounds when you attempt to delete them. It's not Wiki custom to use transparent images in all cases anyway, so I must ask why you're so insistent upon it. --Jay (Talk) 14:08, 25 August 2018 (UTC)

There's nothing wrong with having transparent images, it's just that they should have their own space; they shouldn't replace the images that have backgrounds. I told you in the above section how to give them their own space. Also, take a look at Special:ListGroupRights. As a new user, you fall under the category of "Users" (and "Autoconfirmed Users", I'm fairly certain). You certainly don't have the ability to block any other user, which does not come below the rank of administrator. Jay is an admin, and he can block people from editing, so, maybe don't say something like that to him. I'd advise you to read this. The wiki is a community effort. It'd be wiser to observe and figure out how things work around here rather than trying to push your way through. The Knights Who Say Ni 04:43, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

(Aw man, edit conflict'd! I wrote this at the same time as Knights. Just read it as if he never said anything.) I don't mean to be rude, just informing you about some things regarding this wiki.

1. You can't block anyone. Only sysops (wiki administrators) have the ability to do that.
2. Additionally, there's no reason to block him, because he did nothing wrong. Edits are reverted all the time. You can't tell other people not to revert your edits. Wikis are supposed to be collaborative — that's the whole point of a wiki.
3. Also, you've been reverting a lot of things repeatedly. In wiki-speak, these are generally called "edit wars", and are discouraged. If someone reverts your edit multiple times, you should probably start a discussion on the talk page instead of continuing.
4. While I completely support making images transparent, it isn't always necessarily the best option. If someone reverts it, there's probably a good reason.
5. You Don't Need To Capitalize Every Word. It's easier to read if it's typed out normally.
6. I noticed you've made several consecutive edits to this talk page, trying to fix your signature. There's a "Show preview" button next to "Save page" that allows you to see something before it's saved. It's quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep recent changes and page histories from being flooded.
7. Speaking of which, you don't even need to type out your signature manually. Typing ~~~~ achieves the same thing.
8. In talk page discussions, each subsequent message is usually indented further than the last, using colons (:) before the sentence. See Jay's first two messages above. The first one has no indent, the second has one indent, and so forth.

Also, it seems you are transparentizing images by screenshotting them and manually removing the background. That's what I used to do, and it makes for a poor-quality image with bad outlines. I would suggest using a Flash decompiler, and removing the background that way. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 01:49, 28 August 2018 (UTC)

Do you not understand uploading images under a new file name yet? You've been blocked once already, and your behavior is still a bit disruptive, and regarding having been asked not to do something and doing it anyway because you said "I don't care" is only going to get you blocked again, and for a longer amount of time. Seriously, no one will take objection to the pictures not having a background if you upload them in a different space. It's not difficult. The Knights Who Say Ni 04:30, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

No you aren't. Anyone can revert anything. Did you even read our replies up there? Wikis are supposed to be collaborative; as in, everyone can participate. Nothing is decided by one person alone. Insisting otherwise can get you blocked again. Gfdgsgxgzgdrc 20:25, 16 September 2018 (UTC)

Foot goes down. Stop. The next time you replace an image with a transparent version with no consensus, you will be blocked again.
