Place ya bets

Sorry about that, I was using next epi-snowed as a starting template and meant to copy and paste the text into its own article. I fear I shall leave this up to those who aren't currently at work. GillanTheVillain 22:25, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Naw, it's an easy mistake to make. I do see now that, yes, the short IS real. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 22:27, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

A little thank you

I just want to pass a brief thank you for your assistance on Behind the Bad Episode 2's transcription. Though, I don't know if this is clear yet, but I'm a female. No biggie though, it happens :) Rexy 07:34, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Actually, the possibility of you being female occurred to me shortly after I typed that and took a second look at your user name. Oh well. No offense meant, of course. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 07:41, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Typo?

"A game about love, honor, power, and giant taking kitty cats..."

Shouldn't that be giant talking kitty cats?--99.161.128.249 00:54, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

No Hard Feelings

Quoting one of your edit summaries for the Halfathlon responses in 8-Bit Is Enough:

"Okay, sorry I got upset. Anyway, sometimes the subtitles are wrong, as you can tell here."

Don't worry about it. I saw that most of your frustration was taken out on MHarrington's additions to the responses archive rather than mine, so it shouldn't be me you should be apologising. As for subs, I have them on all the time due to a personal hearing problem I have.

But yeah, in other words: don't criticise yourself. Stay cool. Drink pie-monade. Rexy-mberween (save the rabbits!) 19:56, 17 December 2008 (UTC)

Music?

I made a message for myself for my birthday and want to post it on the wiki so's people can hear it. Is there somewhere I can do it? Like in a personal sounds file? Or do I has to wait for the fanstuff wiki to emerge from the depths of darkness? Jagger88 12:32, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

If it's not H*R-related, my recommendation would be to not do it. However, I'm not the leading authority here. Anyway, Wikis tend to prefer the obscure .ogg file type for audio. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 19:36, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, if I put it in my personal files and removed it after, say, a week, would that be acceptable? The file is a montage of Homestar saying "Happy birthday" to me, and another is a montage of several characters saying "Happy freakin' birthday, jack!". Is this considered to be H*R related? Because I don't want to cause any dramas. Also, how do you convert mp3 to ogg? OpenSourceGreg 05:54, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Pain

Jay, I was thinking that we should maybe compile a page with all of the times characters get hurt. I'm sure there are plenty of occasions to fill it up, ie. not be a stub. OpenSourceGreg 09:53, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

Theycallmefree

Hey, Jay. Earlier today you didn't go on theycallmefree's file did you? you no, about the periods? Fingerface 23:56, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

What you you mean "on his file"? I left a message on his talk page a few days ago because he made an edit that with a really, really long edit summary with no spaces that was making a mess of Special:Recentchanges and I told him not to do that. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 00:31, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

Double Punctuation

Jay, I do not mean to be pushy or anything, but earlier when you said you "weren't buying the double punctuation", well I didn't buy it first either, but there are quite a few times I've seen this. Which is right? Theycallmefree 23:41, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

If it were up to me, I'd say NOT having both an exclamation point and a period would be the way to go. But maybe that's just me. Perhaps we should bring it up on the Manual of Style page!. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:45, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

This is the second time i've been able to say this in the past week, but thanks for the reversion. lol
i thought the umpire said "You're out" instead of "Stee-rike." i must have been thrown off by the extra syllable in strike. and since they only showed the last strike of the KOT's at-bat (which of course that's all they would do), that also skewed my decision. Jay's Journey

How long does it take to play? And what software do you need?-132.183.151.31 21:54, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Oh, heh. I never timed it, actually, but it's moderately long. For software, you need the RPG Maker 2000 RTP (I'm not linking it here, but it shouldn't be that hard to find.) I don't know if it'll run on Vista. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 22:17, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

Is there any way to view a recent changes list omitting the deleted pages? Jay's Journey Redeux

1. AFAIK, it doesn't work in Vista. I don't know the workaround. 2. You need the RPG Maker 2000 RTP, and I'm not linking to that here (search for it). 3. You also need the .exe file, which is generic. I can't remember exactly what the .exe file is called, but it should be in the Readme file. If it doesn't come with RM2K RTP, it definitely comes with RM2K itself and some downloaded games. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 01:30, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Kinda lost what you were saying toward the end there. That said, making a game in RPG Maker 2000 is far easier than making a professional one. The "newest version" is not necessarily 2000, and I haven't seen anything since 2000 (if you have a version of RPG Maker that properly loads Jay's Journey and runs on Vista, I'd be interested to know what it is, but I realize you didn't actually say that.) --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:14, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
No, It wasnt 2000, and I dont know if it will run J'sJ, but my queston is... how did you do it??? Espemon333 23:18, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Patience. Planning. A bit of programming know-how. And a year and a half of spare time. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:20, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
PS. Had I included custom graphics and music (beyond the maybe three tracks and small handful of modified sprites), that year and a half would have been much longer. There's a reason professional companies use teams... --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:21, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
The worst part of using the new one is that the people who used it havent put a tutorial up yet... can you tell me how to make playable charactors... and enemies... Espemon333 23:44, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Like I said, if it's not 2000, I'm not familiar it. And it's been years since I used 2000 anyway. But... if it's anything like 2000, there should be a "Database" option somewhere that allows you to customize the PCs, monsters, items, abilities, and so forth. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 23:46, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Jay!

A person behind the IP Address 83.185.84.142 in Stockholm, Sweden wanted to improve the orders at Main Page 15 about Strong Bad's and The Cheat's 3 comments, but you prevented him to improve the orders at the page article. And he called you "moron", and he said disgusting words against you, and put the summary as follows: %&|-|()ę"=*¥. I agree with you, and he will stop calling you moron and he won't make personal attacks like at Main Page 15 ever again. Concerning Danny Lilithborne

Re: this: After I saw the edit you reverted, I had a check on Wikipedia and found him listed as a deceased Wikipedian (I knew him a tad and can confirm that he is the same user as Wikipedia's JuJube). Wikipedia tends to be pretty good with verifying that sort of thing (more so in the mainspace, but still, they try to be careful all around), so I'm forced to conclude that it is most likely correct, alas. I don't know that we have any policy on whether hatnotes like that one are allowed on userpages (I suspect we don't have a policy, since I don't think this has really come up in the past), so I'm not saying you should revert or anything, I just thought it would be good to mention somewhere that the edit was probably accurate. Heimstern Läufer 08:34, 6 March 2010 (UTC)

I just saw that on the RC and thought to myself that all KiTA ever wanted was to preserve the user page as a memorial. So even if we don't say that he unfortunately passed away, be never delete user pages. Even old ones of users that haven't edited in years. So it will still be a "memorial" in the sense that no one is going to move it anywhere. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 21:51, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
I meant no offense to anyone. Danny's passing was something difficult for me to verify, and we have a policy against editing other people's user pages in most circumstances. Sorry if I was harsher than I meant to be. :( --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 03:30, 7 March 2010 (UTC)

Jstone636 - spammer

I did a google search for Jstone636 and found several hits. He/she spoofed my IP address at crisiswiki.org. Have you found a way to determine the IP address of users who have an account? I have stopped blocking IPs until I can figure out a way to determine if a spammer is spoofing the IP of a legitimate user. I see you deleted the spammer's account, which doesn't stop them from creating the same account again.

http://crisiswiki.org/User:Jwalling
I can't determine the IP address that matches another account. I can determine yours, however, which is quite interesting. You say Jstone626 is 172.31.2.9, which "matches yours", but yours is 63.249.25.137. Also, for curiosity's sake, I was going checking over your Wiki and it says my IP address is 172.31.2.9; it is not. I think there's something wrong with your software. --Jay v.2024 (Auld lang syne) 21:15, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
I get the same thing. Special:Mytalk takes me to http://crisiswiki.org/User_talk:172.31.2.9 instead of my real IP address. (For comparison, if I log out on our wiki and go to the same page here, it takes me to my correct IP.) — It's dot com 21:32, 4 June 2010 (UTC)

2011 April Fool Explanations

I wrote that sig for 2010, but the overarching joke trampled it. I had it saved to a Notepad file, though. Almost all of the sigs that would randomly appear were quotes from something - mostly H*R related - and changed to match the colors of the speakers used in the subtitles, with estimations when that wasn't possible. As it was written in 2010, any changes made since then would not be reflected - in fact, one quote is a misquote (I didn't notice it until just now), as that's what the line was believed to be when this was written, and another is just simply wrong.
