Website sighting

How can we tell that the IP address was telling the truth about the person saying that?--H*Bad 04:56, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

How can we tell Thunderbird was telling the truth about the Flashforward conference? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:00, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Well he can be trusted. IPs, well we just don't know about them. It could be like Willy on Wheels's IP, just here to feed us false information.--H*Bad 05:06, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
While an anonny is generally not as trustworthy as a known user, it remains that there's absolutely no good reason anyone would add such detail without having actually found it out. It is possible, yes, that someone's lying. It's really unlikely, in my opinion. But if you really want to get the community's point of view, bring it up on the Website Sightings talk. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 05:10, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Nice sig you've got there Qermaq... oh yeah and one more thing...

Could you show me how to make an archives list for my talk page like the one you've got? Thanks. Inandoutburger Image:Testpatt av1-4web-sm.png (T/C) 23:46, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Easy. Just look at the source of mine. The contents is a template include, that's at User:Qermaq/archivetemplate. Then the talk stuff is copied to a new page and linked from there. I patterned my TOC off thew archives for the Main Page, others do it differently. Look around to see what others do. And hey, your sig's looking sharp too! Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 06:00, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey thanks for the userbox tip and link. ((User:Woodavers))

Anytime. Did you see how four of these ~ becomes an automatic sig? Keep on tranglin'! Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:04, 31 July 2006 (UTC)

Pool Rules

Qermaq, i noticed here that you reverted "Pool Rules" back to "'ool rules". I'm of the opinion that it should be "Pool Rules", since that's the title on Strong Bad's sign. Nobody likes double reverting, though, so I thought I'd bring it up here. Thanks, Trey56 22:21, 1 August 2006 (UTC)

Is it that way on the sign? I hadn't noticed. That's cool. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:17, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

Bowl games

You were right to delete that "fact", but during the CGNU commercial, the view of the clearly-unfinished website reads "check back after the bowl games!" --Jay (Talk) 16:40, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

Ah, that's where it is. I had forgotten! Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 16:41, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
And, along the same token, I didn't insert any of these. --Jay (Talk) 04:48, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
No? (But I never meant it personally - I needed to vent, and you were there....) Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 09:15, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

HELP!!!

Hi, I'm a new user. And, Qermaq, I was hoping you could help me on some things. I do not feel well talking about it on this page, so I will leave a message on my talk page.

Subtitles

Cool tips for making good subtitles! Do you want to move them over to HRWiki:Subtitles? You could make a new section for tips, or just merge them with the Standards section. :-)  Loafing 01:07, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

If you think it'd be a good addition, sure. We should list some excellent examples of subtitling for reference. Ideas? (open to all, as usual) Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 01:20, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm, we can always add more examples later on. It's a wiki! ;-) This one here shows how to deal with asynchronous sfx and speech: Subtitles:sbemail7/en. But maybe you should check it if it adheres to your standards before you add it... I'll go and have a think which other ones I like.  Loafing 01:29, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

Username

You edited my username without my permission, and decided I'd rather be within bounds? You're as bad as those fascists at Wikipedia... --The Ugly Guy 02:16, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

You're welcome to your opinion. We coexist here as a community in part due to agreement on consensus. One consensus of this committee is expressed at HRWiki:Signature and as a member of this community you are expected to either agree or disagree, and any disagreement is expected to be mature and reasoned. Please express what objection you have to the policy stated at HRWiki:Signature on its talk page. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:58, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

I'd had no issue with changing my username per rules (which seems useless, but whatever), but rather than changing my name for me, why not inform me, and allow me to have all future contributions changed? That's my main point... the rules isn't unreasonable, you're actions are.--Saxon the Deutschmaster 03:34, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Saxon. What clues was I afforded to assume you wanted to change your name? I support that through the proper channels. But you did not say you wanted that, and this edit led me to believe you wanted to be known by this name, so I did not know you wanted to know how to change. Sorry I could not read your mind. And please do not forget to post any objections to the name policy at HRWiki talk:Signature. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:42, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

You have a nasty habit of editing my posts. I didn't have a "standard" name because I missed that particular policy. The moment I learned of it, I changed. Why assume the worst?--Saxon the Deutschmaster 03:46, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Number one, I did not edit your above post in ANY way. I challenge you to show how I did. Second, you have changed your signature, and that pleases me. I have no argument there. Please continue to use a conforming signature. And I hope through a reread you will see that I assumed nothing but the best from you. I look forward to ongoing positive edits. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:51, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

You said yourself that you changed my username... and my paragraph got intented, which I don't do, ever. That happened somewhere between my first post here and your succeeding posts. "Please contnue to use a conforming signature" ? Yeesh, that has wikipedia trustee written all over that. Why would you need to say that if you "assume nothing but the best" from me?--Saxon the Deutschmaster 03:58, 20 October 2006 (UTC)

Ok, here's my reply. I did not change your username. I changed your signature to comply to the policy here. In other words, I did you a favor. Then I indented your post, which is standard here. Again, I did you a favor. Please feel free to criticize me when I in fact do not do you a favor. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 23:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

So you are simultaneously denying editing my posts and claiming that you did me a favor. Thanks; with favors like those, don't ever do me any harm.--Saxon the Deutschmaster 23:13, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Look, I'm sorry what I did rubbed you the wrong way, but my actions were totally acceptable in a wiki Talk page. I in no way changed the words or meaning of what you said. I did you a favor by applying two things to the structure of your post that, because they are established conventions in wikis, made your post more clear as to its context as a reply and as to its writer. Others benefitted as a result. Now I'm far from perfect and have been known to do a boneheaded thing or five here on the wiki, but one thing I'd never dream of doing is changing any user's unique voice here. (In fact, a sysop reverted your original post in this thread, I undid that precisely because I value each user's voice.) Missing indentation and inappropriate signatures aren't a part of one's voice, they are part of the concession we all make to have a community here. I hope my intentions and appropriateness of my actions is clear. If so, we can consider this closed and move on to better things. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:36, 26 October 2006 (UTC)

Template Wording

In response to your question earlier, I went over to the Help:Template page to take a looksie and the wording makes it clear as a bell! This way, newer users can have more of the helpful words and less of the confusing WikiSyntax, while still absorbing all neccesary information. Great job! -Brightstar Shiner 00:50, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Commander Keen?

way to delete my edit. i know i don't have login or anything, but where's the love?

besides, i think i'm right. the REAL keen helmet had two green stripes and one white stripe, but it's similar enough to warrant a reference. c’mon, you know that’s what they were going for. ~Echo

Uh, no, I'm sorry. First, this has nothing to do with your IP status; I'd have undone Tom or JoeyDay for the same edit. As to the location of the love, I can only say my love is toward accuracy and representing the canon appropriately. Now: the helmet in C Keen is vastly different than the one in ExFilm. The common traits are that they are both mostly yellow, they both have a stripe, and they are both helmets. Every other detail differs. If TBC wanted to refer to C Keen, they could have easily done a better job. Remember, we are not here to suppose random correlations between happenings in H*R and the real world; it's our mission to accurately depict the canon and to carefully determine whether a reference is actual or assumed. In this case, it's clear you assumed a reference when, after examination of the details, it's clear there's none. But thanks for playing, and please continue to support and improve the wiki. In Regards To A Recent Edit Summary

When I was editing Shwoo's talk page, I...kind of...forgot how to spell Asperger. I have a bad short-term memory, so please don't make fun of me for misspelling it, okay? Oh, and I'd appreciate if you didn't call my brother's and Shwoo's condition a "serious medical problem". They aren't retarded. I'm sorry if that last sentence sounded mean, but I hope you understand. Thanks! -Brightstar Shiner 20:47, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

I was in no way making fun of you. I felt you would want it spelled correctly, and I thought a light approach was more appropriate than any other, seeing as you obviously just screwed the spelling up. I didn't expect you would have had a negative reaction to that wording. I used to teach elementary school, by the way, and I was particularly displeased by people who, ignorantly, made fun of the syndrome by calling it "Ass burgers". While I can see why they thought it funny, I spent time with a lot of kids to show them why it wasn't really funny after all. I didn't believe in the least that you intentionally spelled it similarly to how some insensitive folks have said it around me in the past; my concern was simply that another individual might have been a little put off, or even offended, by the honest-to-goodness spelling error. (While not all Asperger's-affected people are the same, it's certainly true that many are a lot more sensitive to such a spelling error than others. I've worked with kids who manifested that, particularly with things like spelling. And maybe that makes me a little over-sensitive to how it's spelled, I don't know.) Again, I was not "calling you out" but simply providing 1) what I thought would be a helpful fix to the thread and 2) in the end, perhaps a handy, lighthearted way to remember how not to spell it.
Having worked with kids with Asperger's, I'm of the opinion that is is (at least in some cases) a serious condition. I can appreciate why some people who live every day with it, or with someone with it, don't want it characterized as "worse than it is", but we should not write it off as not serious. Every individual who has this is different, and while many are very mildly affected, others are more profoundly affected, to such a degree that anything approaching normal social interaction is an achievement, as an example. My use of the word "serious" was not intended to convey "as bad as severe learning dysfunction", but just "something to take seriously."
So, let me assure you that the edit and the summary I used was intended with respect and understanding. I've seen some kids with this do some incredible things. It isn't something that should stop anyone from achieving their goals, although it can make some things a little more difficult. I believe a big part of what can help all people who have any sort of small, medium or large barrier to overcome is doing whatever we can to raise awareness, educate, and make it clear to others that these folks deserve a lot of credit and respect for having to do more and work harder than you or I. That's what the thought behind that edit was. Hope I've cleared up any misunderstandings. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 22:33, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
I understand. Of a lot of users, I trust you quite a lot, so I was hoping that you wouldn't be snotty about this. When I was in elementary school (which was, for me, only five years ago), I heard a lot of comments from the other kids about Asperger's that I wanted to punch them for. Therefore, I'm more than a bit sensitive about that kind of thing.
When I read the edit summary, I got kind of ticked, so I tried to tell you in the most non-insulting way possible (yet I was in a bad mood, so the resulting post ended up less than pleasant, sorry) that you shouldn't compare Asperger's to beef or down syndrome. I'm grateful that you corrected my error, but next time, please just put "sp" or something in the edit summary so it doesn't draw so much attention to itself, okay? Thanks for understanding. Keep on tranglin'! :-) -Brightstar Shiner 20:57, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Spanish Things

Thanks! I live in a Border Town and I am good in English and Spanish.

Corrections: Limozeena Sounds like Limosina just like Limozeen sounds like Limosine
Hombre Fuerte is Strong Man, Strong Mad's Old Timey Counterpart
And Lil' Strong Bad... Hm... It really depends what kind of Spanish, Latin American or Spain. If it was from Spain, then yes... but I make my corrections and translations in Latin American Spanish.

Thank you

Hey Qermaq right now I'm going around saying thanks to the people who helped me go from an annoying pest to a contributing user so thanx and merry X-berween. - Flamer(talk) 04:31, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

NP. When a user wants to make good edits, everyone here is really helpful, it's how we do business. Keep on with the tranglin'. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 10:09, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Star Trek Wiki

In regard to your comment here, the Star Trek wiki is called Memory Alpha. I didn't search for an inconsistancies page, though. --DorianGray

I checked it out and they discuss inconsistencies on an article to article basis (See MemoryAlpha:Constellation class#Inconsistencies for example). Seeing as their universe is a whole log bigger and has been around for longer, I'd imagine if they attempted to have all the inconsistencies on one page it would be much too large. -- Tom 18:47, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

The lack of "u"

Ah, yes, well... Sorry 'bout that! Man, I keep gettin' user names wrong, and they're right in front of my freakin' face! Oh well... I's tired, and I've been studin' for finals, so that's my excuse and I'm stickin' to it! Just wanted a reason to say "hi" and also to reiterate that "sorry"! kai lyn 02:22, 19 December 2006 (UTC) (notice, my "k" is not capitalized... Not that I'm telling you specifically or anything, I just thought it was appropriate to mention here... (*Okay, shut up it up kai lyn*)!)

It's cool. Just never do it again!!! :) Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 02:29, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Confusion about Oddtodd.com

Here's the link to the tuesday morning coffee show mentioned in the Reddest Radish article. They don't sound the same, but you can see that it is on a Casio SK-1. [1] --Jnelson09 17:28, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for that. I especially liked the bit of him watching "What's Happening." (I am probably the only person on this wiki who saw that show first-run :\) But yeah, it's not notable in the article. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 03:54, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
