STUFF testing

Some HSR themed username, we are testing the new format. Come see how it works. — It's dot com 09:18, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

OK. I'm a little more busy today than I thought I would be but I'll try to get some testiong done. --~~~ 11:43, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

If you're going to make your signature "~~~", then you need to put "nowiki" tags on each side of it. You see, everytime someone edits a page with your sig in it, the "~~~" in you sig is replaced with the editers sig. This is what your sig needs to look like:
[[User:Some HSR themed username|<nowiki>~~~</nowiki>]].
This won't change the way it looks at all. Thanks. —FireBird|Talk 18:35, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I noticed that yesterday, but I thought I changed it. I'll make sure it works this time. ~~~ 18:40, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Test sig [[User:Some HSR themed username|Someimage:small_logo.pngthemed username]]

Cool. Thanks. —FireBird|Talk 18:44, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Your signature needs to be your name, not ~~~, especially in votes. We shouldn't have to follow a link to find out who someone is. Thanks. — It's dot com 19:29, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)

You can just hover over it to make my username appear, or check the destination link at the bottom if you don't want to follow the link. I also think that if I always use this then eventually it will become synonymous with my username, plus it's a lot shorter. If you still want me to change it then I guess I will. ~~~ 19:35, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)
If you want to change your name to an unpronouncable symbol à la Prince, be my guest, but you shouldn't choose something that's already reserved by the system software. It's confusing and, as you've already found out, has the potential for bugs. A suggestion for a short form of your name: "HSR username". Just a thought. — It's dot com 19:56, 4 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Thank you to Rainer for helping me get this together. This should solve everybody's problems. (with my signature anyway. No promises about all of your personal issues.) small_logo.pngUsername-talk 04:06, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Ooh, that's snazzy! I like that. — It's dot com 17:35, 5 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Very cool sig. single deuce 00:41, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Thanks guys!/gals!/guy and gal! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 14:14, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)
(It's definitely not the second one in that list. — It's dot com)
(While I was at it (read: goofing off at work), I checked single deuce's page, and he's a he, too. — It's dot com ...Oh, and you're welcome for the thanks you gave there above.)

Just needed to cover my bases, plus, I enjoy using strikethrough. Maybe too much. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 17:05, 6 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, I know what you mean. — It's dot com No, really.

Thank you for the info on da tildes--Styles Upon Styles 01:59, 9 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Holy crap, do you need any help?!? -BazookaJoe 13:33, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Sure, unfortunately neither of us have blocking privalages small_logo.pngUsername-talk 13:35, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I still have to get my bearings! -BazookaJoe 13:36, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
The best part is, I'm still keeping up with all of the other edits! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 13:38, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Wow, nice work! Look at all those moved pages. Good thing you were here. -BazookaJoe 13:39, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I am also attempting to help. -Fahooglewitz1077 13:40, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I think s/he finally decided to call it quits. I'm not sure if the redirect pages need to be marked for deletion, but if they do, help would be appreciated there. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 13:42, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Guess not small_logo.pngUsername-talk 13:43, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Yeah. I think all the redircts will have to be marked for deletion. We'll work on that when this ordeal is over. -BazookaJoe 13:51, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
If I don't leave soon I'm going to get in trouble. I leave this task in your capable hands. Sorry I can't stay to help. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 13:53, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Thank You Kilroy!!! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 13:54, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

No probalo. — Kilroy / talk 14:08, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I think everyone involved in restoring the damage gets a big round of applause. -BazookaJoe 14:17, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Amen. Nice work, everyone. — Kilroy / talk 14:19, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Combolations all around!!!! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 14:20, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Wow. I've never been trolled before. I wonder whether the targeted users personally did something specific, or whether it was just random vandalism. Thank you to whoever of you moved my page back where it belongs. Wish I could have been there to help you fight this guy. (And I think a permanent ban for him is too light a sentence.) — It's dot com 14:56, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

The users s/he targeted (Fahooglewitz and I), both left notes on his/her talk page saying stop it, but I'm not sure why you were targeted as well. For all the good work you've been doing, perhaps? It's my first experience being trolled as well. You're welcome for the reversion, it was nothing compared to what else I had to deal with. (I reverted myself probably 5 times!) Seconding that sentencing remark. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 15:45, 11 Jul 2005 (UTC)

Have fun on your vacation! Where are you going, by the way? I fixed the <br> tags on your userpage. (That is if you don't mind.) — It's dot com 04:49, 21 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I will, don't worry about that. Sandbridge Beach, Virginia, just south of Virginia Beach, been going ther every summer for years. And thanks for fixing those <br>s too. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 04:54, 21 Jul 2005 (UTC)
Cool. See you when you get back. — It's dot com
Have a nice, long, relaxing break. —BazookaJoe 14:02, 21 Jul 2005 (UTC)
So, um, if you're on vacation, how come your name keeps popping up in the Recent changes? ;) Oh, and I think bottom 10 has staying power out the wazoo. — It's dot com 21:34, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
There is a computer here, but I won't be doing much that's all. As for bottom 10, it may make its way back in a while. We'll see. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 22:28, 25 Jul 2005 (UTC)
I keep waiting for the inevitable 509 error. That'll make us all have to take a vacation. — It's dot com

You're back! Yay! Are you here for a while, or just tonight? — It's dot com 03:24, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

I am back as much as I ever will be I think. What with school starting and everything now I'm not sure if I will be able to do as much as I used to, but we'll see. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 04:00, 24 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Removing STUFF pages

Hey HSR username. How was/is your vacation? You can't just remove items from the STUFF index. You have to copy the verdicts to the respective talk pages and to the master verdicts archive. — It's dot com 00:03, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Sorry about that, I should've guessed I had to do something else. My mistake, won't do it again. Vacation is still good, but winding down unfortunately. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 03:36, 3 Aug 2005 (UTC)

The Pie Man Cometh

Hello there, Some HSR themed username. Outstanding job on that pie guy...they don't get much more persitently pointless than him (or her). THE SMOKING MONKEY 15:34, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Yeah, thanks. Sometimes I'm astounded by the stupidity of certain people. Now we just need an admin to block that IP. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 15:37, 1 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Your answer has arrived!

Hey HSR Username! It's dot com replied on my talk page about the pic linking thing. Just look @ that or at that FAQ link on my talk page! ttyl! --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 00:54, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Thanks one million, RJMT! My dream has come true all thanks to you! (And It's dot com, of course. Somehow I always end up owing him one.) small_logo.pngUsername-talk 04:14, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)
You're very welcome! But I really don't deserve the credit. Well, I asked the question, after you asked it b4. But anyway, you're welcome! --arrow4.PNG~Rebecca~ RJMT speaker-noise.gif 17:51, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)
I'd love to say I did anything, but I really didn't. Tom supplied the actual code; I just tweaked it a little. — It's dot com 18:16, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

OK then, I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person on this wiki, for doing all of the things that make it exciting, helpful, and just plain super. Thanks! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 18:22, 3 Sep 2005 (UTC)

More thanks to you as well! I can always count on you to use a quote in just the right way. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 14:14, 23 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Isn't that a sockum bopper? TotalSpaceshipGirl3

Happy Birthday! (a little belated) It all goes downhill from now... er... I mean! So Cool! So Cool! Hehe... Congratulations and good luck in your life as one of us! --Stux 11:41, 7 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Oh, man! I am the master of belated birthdays! Cheers on your 18th! (that's a pretty big one right there, followed by 21, 30, etc. etc.) — THE SMOKING MONKEY 13:03, 7 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Hey, thanks for the happiness. Belated or no, it's always nice to get that orange bar. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 14:02, 7 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Thank you I did that by accident sorry! I was learning how to add categories (well copying the code) and pasting it where I was gonna put it and instead I edited the source. I tried to revert but I guess that's not something I can do. (Instead I was gonna do it manually). Man you guys are fast! Again my apologies.

--Stux 22:48, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

No worries. You can revert just as well as I can, I just have about 1000 edits' experience. See the Wiki Troll page for info on reverting. A lot of times tests like that go awry, no harm done. Keep up the good edits you've been making recently! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 22:53, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

sock puppet

aw crap, you caught me. That was a user that I made. I wanted to experiment with a sig, and not mess with mine.

--— talk Bubsty edits 00:37, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I would like to take this opportunity to warn you against creating Sock Puppet accounts, as it's generally frowned upon. If you wanted to experiment, you could always edit yours, then when you're finished go to the history and get your old sig back. That will keep everybody happy. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 00:41, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)
oh. k sry, i didnt know. --— talk Bubsty edits 00:49, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)
You could also make a second signature subpage, like /sig2. Do your experimenting there. Once you've finished testing, remove any links to your second subpage and mark it for deletion. — It's dot com 01:21, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Oh. thanks. Oh yeah, and happy birthday! Congardulations! --— talk Bubsty edits 01:49, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! small_logo.pngUsername-talk 01:51, 29 Sep 2005 (UTC)

I'm confused; did you just mean to revert the monster truck edit by anonymous and then put it right back in again? notstrongorbad

No, I reverted it thinking that the previous version was correct, seeing as how it had all of the details. But then It's dot com asked why I reverted it in the IRC channel, so I went back and looked at it. Lo and behold, the edit was true. Thats what I get for assuming things. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 03:42, 30 Sep 2005 (UTC)

The Moon

In personal favorites there are several bottles lying on the ground, but Strong Bad 'says' "drank a glass of soy sauce". The reference should therefore be "glass", not "bottle". B 17:34, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)

True, but there are no glasses in sight and the bottles are made of glass, and right there on the ground. He also said a glass, and there were several bottles, so we don't know how much of that is truth and how much he just said to get the general idea across without going into to much detail. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 17:37, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)

All true as well, but in that case, the note should at least be "several bottles" as we can see at least 5. The Cheat drank some as well, and the rest is speculation, which doesn't have much room here. I'm of the opinion that the whole point of referencing 'anything' is to help the reader figure out what is going on. Consistency with the dialogue makes that possible. B 17:55, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)

That is reasonable, but I know when I remember that part of personal favorites I always think of the bottles of soy sauce lying on the ground, not the passing reference to a glass that he actually says. I just think that even if we both agree to change it to glass then somebody will eventually come and change it back because the scene is more memorable than the quote. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 18:02, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)

That's the difference. I (and most of my friends) are quoters, and the visuals are of passing importance. Fair enough to leave it if you think that is what most of the people will remember. At least grant me the "several bottles", since you said yourself that is the image you recall. I'll be very satisfied with that. B 18:12, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Go for it. I was going to change it to several whaen I made the edit, and didn't for some reason. small_logo.pngUsername-talk 18:40, 1 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Well played. Thanks Mate. B 02:15, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Reverting Tips/Suggestions

Oh, haldo HSRu! You may have your own style with this (as I did), and maybe I'm a little too obsessive-compulsive about it all, but I want to show you something that I find to be easier. When you revert an edit that doesn't need to be explained, you can just type "rv" in the edit summary. Also, if combatting vandalism or trolling, you can just type "rv/v" or "rvv". I find that much easier, especially when fighting flood-vandalism, because you don't have to type so much, you are less likely to make typos, and people who really need to see revert note know what it means, anyway. Hope that helps, if you wish to adopt this style as your own. <3 —BazookaJoe 01:35, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for the thoughts. I have been making more spelling mistakes lately, I'll give you that. My summary box has a popup window that lists the last few things I've entered as summaries, but I have fallen out of the habit of using that. Perhaps I will switch over to shorthand, because I've been working a lot more lately. And then of course there's the times when I feel like writing something different in the box for a change, just to mix things up a bit. Anyway, it's nice to hear from such a respected reverter/trollbuster such as yourself, and I will continue the tradition in your footsteps, seeing as how now you simply use the standard sysop revert. Man, I feel like this thread needs a Homestar quote in it though... Let's see.... I think I'll go with DIGITIZED MARZIPAN: "Strong Bad is on point." Catch ya later.
small_logo.pngUsername-talk 04:37, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
P.S. Holy bum on a stick!! Well done with the WoW attack this night, sorry I missed it.
Thanks, both guys. I had been wondering whether there was a standard way of doing it, and what it might be; shorter is definitely better! —notstrongorbad 05:42, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

50K Marathon

HI! Nice project! Are you going to do the 20-something hours of key tapping stright, or a couple of KM a day? And can you printscreen the part where the track is going blank? I realy want to see it, as well as the part where it comes back. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 05:29, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)

What is up my man. My ace in the hole. I'm doing a few KM a day, and doing it for a lot of days. The blackness part is at 1K, so I can't printscreen it because I passed it already. Sorry. It was worth the time if you want to do it yourself though. I am planning on printscreening when I reach 49.99 and putting it on my page though. (I've found it's good if you listen to music or read while you racewalk, or else you will go insane.) small_logo.pngUsername-talk 05:34, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
I can relate. I tried it once and got to 0.65 K. Then I went insane. I don't think I ever really recovered. — Lapper (talk) 05:36, 8 Oct 2005 (UTC)
