Um, what?

I'm talking about the edit summary, not the edit. — It's dot com 12:43, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

I don't want to sound repetitive (or however that's spelled) but, uh... Um, what? --Sysrq868 12:49, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Finnish subtitle titles

Hey Sysrq868, I'm glad you're taking on the Finnish subtitles. I noticed on the Quality Time subtitles that there's no translation when the title is shown, which I think might be useful. I'd add it myself, but I would just be guessing as to what to say. Keep on tranglin'! — It's dot com 23:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey Sysrg868, good jorb with the Finnish subtitles! And welcome to the subtitles team :-D Loafing 04:39, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Thank you, both of you! :) --Sysrq868 05:48, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Cup o' Stew

THE IRON CUP OF STEW x2!
Dazzling work good chap!

Hey Man, excellent work on the subtitles, and since those allow more people to see H*R, and are the equilevent of a transcript in work, I want to award you the Iron Cup Of Brunswick Stew.

This award, the first on HRWiki, is given to recognize good contributions and to let people know that their hard work is seen and appreciated. It was given to The Cheat by Strong Bad for his good work on New Boots.

And keep the good work up, cheers!--~ SlipStream 09:19, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

Wow! Thanks man! --Sysrq868 09:26, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
I've been noticing your incredible subtitles work, and I was about to give you this award, until I noticed it'd already been given to you.
So, let me just reiterate: outstanding work! Translating subtitles is such an important task around here — I think it's awesome that we can bring Homestar Runner to a wider audience through them! Keep up the great work! Trey56 07:02, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks to you too, Trey56! I was meaning to make an awards page for me, but I never got around to it... :) But, again, thank you very much! --Sysrq868 07:23, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
In addition to the Iron Cup of Brunswick Stew, I now present you with the Golden Sub, for your exceptional work in our subtitles project, this award is given only to the elite of the subtitles project. ~ SlipStream

Sucking... (from quotes page)

Excuse me, that quote is totally taken out of context! — Defender1031*Talk 00:17, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

It's really funny though. :P --~ SlipStream 00:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Runescape

Do you play runescape? Your name sounds familiar.--Kanjiro talk 02:09, 2 October 2007 (UTC) (If you do play runescape you may remember me as Kanjiro42)

I played Runescape. A long time ago. Your name sounds familiar too... I can't place it. Maybe we're friends there? --Sysrq868 08:49, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
I think a couple weeks ago we made a trade for some fish for like, 1400gp? How long ago did you play? I'm Kanjiro42 on runescape, if that clears anything up... --Kanjiro talk 22:38, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmh? Probably not, I haven't played for like a year. And in fact, I think I didn't register there as "sysrq868". Can't remember. Oh well. :P --Sysrq868 10:29, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello!

Hey, just noticed that are making Finnish subtitles here. I am Finnish too (but this is english site so i keep talking english to you). Glad to see someone from Finland who knows Homestarrunner.com. It feels that in Finland there's really, really small amount of homestarrrunner fans. I know only one fan besides myself (by the way, me and he wrote article about homestarrunner to finnish wikipedia, (Link).)

I haven't checked your subtitles yet, but im gonna take a look to them now. Well, see ya around. Reyde 09:32, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey, awesome! I don't know too many Finnish H*R fans either (in fact, you are the only one I can think of now), but I have tried to convert my friends to check it at least twice a year... By the way, it was me who added those new names to the Finnish wiki page, I seem to have forgortten to log in. :) --Sysrq868 09:52, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Yes I've been pretty disappointed how unknown thing H*R, the best internet cartoon ever, is in Finland. Well everyone propably has different opinion on this subject, but me and my friend thought that some character names etc. should not be translated. Like King of Town and Teen girl squad members. And also I thought that it shouldn't be "Strong Badin email" because it is not "Strong Bad's email" originally, its just "Strong Bad Email"... --Reyde 10:28, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, they are quite incorporated already. If you want, you can change them, it'd probably require you to go through everything (=a lot). King Of Town was translated because I feel not all Finns might get it in English. Teen Girl Squad and it's members was translated because they were spontaneously invented by Strong Bad, it wouldn't be so good once I get to subtitle that email. And I don't think it's that bad, while they translated everything in the German subtitles. If you'd take a peek to the character file, you'll see that a lot of them are translated to something (especially the KoT and TGS). I left most "The"s there also, because I too hate when they rename characters with dull names. I had to take some liberties to preserve grammar integrity: "Strong Bad Email" wouldn't sound so good to Finnish viewers. It'd be the same as to say "John Car" to refer to John's car.
Conclusion: change them, if you want and have time and persistence. I wouldn't. :) --Sysrq868 10:41, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey there, Sysrq. I know who you are now! I know you've told this before, but I just wanted to also say that you're doing rrrl rrrl well on these subtitles. Nothing else. You've already got an award. See you 'round.
Homestar-Winner (talk) 11:15, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Sorry for the late response, but I think I should say that I rrrl rrrl appreciate your comments! Thanks! --Sysrq868 16:16, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Secret Pages

Do the split, man. With a vengeance. OptimisticFool 15:26, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Actually, don't. There's no consensus yet. — Defender1031*Talk 16:56, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

OK, Sysrq eight-six-eight! I do so. P.S.: I will show a message point. HEY! Ignore this, man!--Homes Turk 13:43, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Gimme a break

So why never use <br /> in subtitles? Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:53, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Because for some odd reason it's a double linebreak in the local viewer - at least for me. So, instead of it reading
Hey guys,
this is a subtitle
it will say
Hey guys,

this is a subtitle
So why use something that works only for half of the time instead of something that at least to my experience works all the time? --Sysrq868 09:08, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
That would be a bug in the viewer. I'd report it to the developer. It really shouldn't behave like that. Qermaq - (T/C) Image:Qermaqsigpic.png 00:35, 21 December 2007 (UTC)

Kermit1234's sig

hanks for pointing that out! Sorry, I was just experimenting (which I guess I should have done in the sandbox.) Just one thing before I do this, how do I remove the box and the "no includes?" I just want to know what to delete. Or if you can do it that would be great. Thanks! <Kermit1234> 14:46, 22 December 2007 (UTC) (i also posted this on my sig talk)
