The last Don

I noticed on Limo-zeen page Perry_Palaroncini, you mentioned Don Chapman and Donnie Chapman. Are these 2 different people? If so further explanation, or this will be really confusing. I R F 16:05, 21 October 2005 (UTC)

Good question--I'm confused as well; I think the claim is that Don Chapman (father) played Perry in the E-cards but Donnie Chapman (brother) played Perry in monster truck.Trey56 16:09, 21 October 2005 (UTC)
I think they both play him. — talk Bubsty edits 03:16, 2 December 2005 (UTC)

Sig characters

Hey *****6. Just so you know, ever since you changed your signature, the first five characters don't show up. I have a pretty standard configuration with quite a few fonts, so it's likely that a lot of other users are experiencing the same thing. Cheers! — **'* *** **m 17:21, 26 January 2006 (UTC)

I got it all straightened out, and Jay and I just finished deleting all the pages. If that happens, just hang tight and wait for a sysop, 'cause you won't be able to fix it completely without deleting something. Sorry if I was abrupt, by the way. I didn't know what your plan was, and time was of the essence. Thanks for trying, though. Keep on tranglin'! :) — It's dot com 03:45, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

for templating my gifs... how do you do that??? sry for being a noob =( csours 20:57, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

For one of your two personal images, you add the line "{{personal-image|Csours}}" to the description. For your signature image, you add "{{personal-image-sig|Csours}}". If you ever want to abandon one of your images, add "{{personal-image-abandoned|Csours}}". Trey56 21:06, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

I guess it's dot com would be the guy to ask, since he's the one who wrote the bit about the signature images. He clarified this comment a little on this page, indicating that he doesn't mind animated sig images, as long as they're not too distracting. I don't know, maybe it was fine the other way--they'll probably tell you if not! Anyway, sorry for the bother. Best, Trey56 05:14, 15 February 2006 (UTC)

Closing stuff

Hey there. I find that it's easier to close the STUFF item before making the archive. (To get the code, I just go one back in the history.) That way, you eliminate the (slim) possibility of someone changing the item between the time you archive it and close it, plus it gives you a handy red link to follow if the archive page is new. Keep on tranglin'! — It's dot com 19:04, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

The sword of fire. Clearly.

Crystalis featured five swords: wind, fire, water, thunder, and Crystalis. The one toon that used thunder that I can think of is Homestarloween Party. -- Tom 02:04, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Whoa that looks pretty convincing, Tom. Loafing 02:08, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
Of course, apart from the fact that thunder has also been featured elsewhere on the site: Stinkoman 20X6 Walkthrough Level 9. Wind, fire and water are featured more than once, too. Neither "Crystalis" nor crystal seem to have made an appearance anywhere. I think there was some halloween toon where Marzipan was using a crystal ball to see in the future. But I can't find it. Maybe I made it up. Loafing 02:34, 2 September 2006 (UTC) Addendum: Lappy has Liquid Crystal Display. That rules at "crystal" as well.
My question was intended to mean, "which word has appeared only once on the site," in which case "thunder" is the only one of the five words that has appeared exactly once--in the Scrolling Shooter Games Menu ("Rolling Cheat thunder"). So, even though it was a poorly worded question, you certainly came up with the one that has appeared in any form the least amount of times, Tom (not counting Crystalis, which naturally has never appeared on the site). So, great job figuring out the name of this less well-known game, and sorry for the confusing question. Trey56 06:12, 2 September 2006 (UTC)

Heh, I hadn't even looked at the question. And... I dunno. --Jay stuck at home (Talk) 19:47, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
That's fine — to get you (or anyone else) started on the trivia, there are places on the internet that keep track of video game credits... Trey56 19:51, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
To answer #1: Howard Philips founded Nintendo Power... --Jay stuck at home (Talk) 19:54, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
And, going strictly from Wikipedia, I do believe that the answer to #2 is a bowtie. --Jay stuck at home (Talk) 19:59, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
And, going strictly from memory, this would make #3's answer Halloween Fairstival, through SB's Joker costume. I think. --Jay stuck at home (Talk) 20:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
You're right about everything but the last part — there is a more recent toon that includes several bowties... Trey56 20:05, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
I know nothing of old-skool videro games, but bowties we're porminent in senior prom. Elcool (talk)(contribs) 20:36, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
Yep. Here's the summary of what I was thinking of:
Dragon Warrior is the Japanese RPG that started it all. This game's popularity exploded in Japan but would probably never have reached American markets if Nintendo Power Editor-in-Chief Howard Philips hadn't fought so hard for it. Howard Philips is fondly remembered for his Howard & Nester comics and for his ever-present bow tie. Bow ties appear several times in senior prom.
Well done to both of you (and in record time). Trey56 21:01, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

12 September 2006

The game is Batman featuring Batman. The screenshot is from just before The Joker dies. The Joker has been featured on when Strong Bad dressed as Cesar Romero as The Joker in Halloween Fairstival. -- Tom 06:29, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Great jorb! Trey56 06:34, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
By the way, after a second viewing under the tutelage of Pom Pom's keen eyes, if you look closely in the screenshot just to the left of the tallest tower, you can see a small purple blob — that's actually the Joker falling... Trey56 06:47, 15 September 2006 (UTC)

Good Prize?
Most Improved!

The game is Spiritual Warfare. As for the weapons, on we've got a pear, an apple/Puppet Jam: Apple Juice Blues/Stinko-apple, a bag of four grapes/The Grape Fairie/Grape-Nuts Robot, and a banana with an arrow through it/banana phone. No pomegranate, but plenty of Pom Pom... -- Tom 07:23, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Boo yah! (as they say) One of the more obscure NES titles I've got laying around. This game was produced by one of the few companies to make unlicensed games for the NES without being sued, probably for fear of public outcry. Trey56 07:34, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
In Spiritual Warfare I was thinking about the other weapons
Belt of Truth - Peasant's Quest Game
Breastplate of Righteousness
Boots of Preparation - New Boots
Sword of the Spirit - Trogdor the Game.
Helmet of Salvation - Peasant's Quest Trailer
Shield of Faith - In Search of the Yello Dello DVD

After careful consideration of your contributions, I've posted your prize on your talk page. Nice job! Trey56 19:41, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

22 November 2006

The game is Trog!. The Peasant's Quest Movie Trailer toon not only contained a Stop Motion scene (like the gameplay of the game), but also contained the Pterodactyl (a dinosaur, like Bloop) and Jhonka (a caveman-ish guy, like Spike). -- Tom 22:42, 23 November 2006 (UTC)

You're right about the game, but there's a toon that very directly resembles the gameplay of Trog: it features a dinosaur fighting with cavemen... Trey56 23:31, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
As Loafing added and then retracted, you must mean Summer Short Shorts, where The Cheatsaurus scorches Caveman Homestar, Cavewoman Marzipan, and Caveman Strong Bad. -- Tom 23:56, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
That is indeed what I was thinking the game, you can collect a particular item (in a few levels, particularly associated with a volcano) which enables you to breathe fire and destroy the enemy cavemen. Nice job to both of you! Trey56 01:15, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

French subtitles

Hi Trey. I saw you did some edits to the French subtitles, saying that there were "superfluous spaces". Allow me to clear this : in French, we put spaces after some of the punctuation. For example we put a space before (and after, of course) "!" and "?", as in "J'aime Homestar Runner ! Et toi ?".
It's a simple rule but it's not like that in English, so I understand why you tought I messed up with the spaces. But trust me, for a French reader it will be more clear with spaces like that.
But thanks for your help anyway ^^ I'll go translate some more... --Meuhcoin 15:43, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

Oh. And here I thought I was doing you a favor. Sorry about that! Trey56 15:52, 26 September 2006 (UTC)

I liked your old siggy.  Loafing 22:25, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks — I was just trying to conform to the signature policies...on the other hand, if I have the approval of a sysop, then maybe it's okay the other way :) Trey56 23:56, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
What! No exceptions unless you pay me five bucks! Hmmm, the policies state that "preferably a signature would include no more than one image", so it would be acceptable to have two. It's a bit tougher on animated images, which are "strongly discouraged". As a sysop, I do encourage users to follow these recommendations. But on the other hand, your old siggy did conform to the rules, just not the recommendations; so there was nothing wrong with it ;-)  Loafing 01:03, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
