Y-O-U is a real band that worked with The Brothers Chaps on Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits and the karaoke tracks on strongbad_email.exe. The Chapmans, in return, animated a music video for Y-O-U from their song "L.A. Lindsay." Two of the songs from Strong Bad Sings... were featured on Guitar Hero II ("Trogdor") and Encore ("Because, It's Midnite"). In March 2008, the band helped the Chapmans put on a live Limozeen show.

Y-O-U released a self-titled album in 2003 featuring "L.A. Lindsay." Their sophomore EP "Everything is Shifting" came out in 2005, and their latest studio release, "Flashlights," was released on January 23, 2007 and is currently available for free download from the band's official MySpace profile. While Y-O-U itself is a rock band, the members occasionally make pseudonymous appearances playing Europop. The members also made the film The Flying Wallabies, a short mockumentary about jump roping.

In December 2006, Y-O-U was selected out of over 1,700 artists as one of the Top 25 Best Bands on MySpace by Rolling Stone Magazine.

In September 2009, Y-O-U announced its retirement from playing and recording new music; however, its members still play together in other groups, and Nick Niespodziani tweeted in 2010 about recently working with Strong Bad in a recording studio, though no more details have been released.

Their new band, Yacht Rock Revue, will be playing at the Homestar Runner 20th Anniversary Show.
