STRONG BAD: Chee-wit, chee-wit, chee-wi-chee-wi-email.
{reading}
Dear Strong Bad,
How come you never let The Cheat
answer any emails?
Lasko
Milwaukee, WI
{Strong Bad says "Lasko" low, long, and drawn-out like a foghorn and says "WI" as "Wisacondasin"}
STRONG BAD: {typing} Well, Lasko {said as before}, The Cheat is not very popular and he never really gets many emails and um, to tell you the truth, I don't even think he has a computer. {stops typing} All right, next email.
{He makes a vocal sound effect as the next email scrolls up (henceforth "vocal sfx"), and starts reading.}
Hey Strong Bad!
i love The Cheat! can you ask him for
me if he is taken? because i like him
WAY better then you
-Nobuyoshi Shigeta, New York
{Strong Bad stops reading at "i like him WAY better then—"}
STRONG BAD: Augh, seen enough of that one.
{vocal sfx; reading}
Dear Strong Bad,
You and the Cheat are the only reason
I go on this website. Actually just
the Cheat, but you are ok too.
Love,
Mito
{Strong Bad stops reading for a second after the first sentence, and says "Oh, thank you." His mood sours for the rest of the email, however, and Strong Bad says "Dumpo" instead of "Mito"}
STRONG BAD: Geez, all these Cheat emails. Moving on.
MOVING ON!!
{Cut to The Cheat watching the email on Tangerine Dreams in his computer room. He gets progressively angrier with each email Strong Bad deletes.}
{vocal sfx; reading}
Dear Strong Bad,
I think The Cheat is hot. Could
you hook us up?
Haelee,
Utah
STRONG BAD: That's funny, Haelee. I think The Cheat is deleted. {imitates buzzer noise}
DELETED!!!
{vocal sfx, reading}
Hey Strong Bad
My girlfriend thinks The Cheat
is cute.
Tyler,
California
{The Cheat storms off in a fit. Cut back to just Strong Bad at Compy.}
STRONG BAD: Come on, people! He's not even that cute. He looks like a... a cheese. {The Cheat walks up to him, glaring} Or maybe an anvil.
THE CHEAT: {Angry The Cheat noises}
STRONG BAD: {nervously} Uhhh... which are two of the finest things in life. A cheese... or an anvil. Hey, The Cheat. Just, uh, talking you up to one of the fans here.
THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises}
STRONG BAD: Oh. So you been... watching the email, huh?
THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises}
STRONG BAD: No, I haven't been holding out on you. I made all those emails up! Uh, most of the emails you get are not that friendly, lemme tell you. If you just turn around for a second, I could show you... {pause} HUTTAH! {He quickly tapes a piece of paper to Compy reading "the cheat" covering the place where Strong Bad's name usually appears}
{reading}
DEAR the cheat
WHERE THE HECK IS YOU SHIRT???
YOUR GLOVES ARE STUPID!
I HATE YOU,
HOLMES, California
{Strong Bad reads in a loud monotone to reflect the caps lock being on.}
STRONG BAD: {to The Cheat} See? This guy doesn't like that you don't have a shirt on, and he thinks your gloves are stupid. {opens new email} And then there's this one:
{reading}
Dear the cheat
how do you type with boxing
gloves on your hands?
derek
STRONG BAD: {To The Cheat} I've been wondering about that, too. What is with you and those boxing gloves anyway?
THE CHEAT: {Grumpy The Cheat noises, and a black cloud of smoke escapes from his head. He walks away.}
STRONG BAD: So okay bye! Whooh. I think I handled that pretty well. That coulda been... awkward. I deserve a reward. {He runs take-a-break.exe, which is a screen saver of a beach} Aahhh... so relaxing. Fshhhhhhhhh! Fshhhhhhhhh! Listen to the waves, man. {A bird flaps past.} Oh, hello my wingèd friend!
{The Paper comes down.}
Easter Eggs
- At the very end, while Strong Bad is watching "Take-a-break.exe", click on the bird to download "take-a-break.exe" for Windows or Mac.
- The downloadable version does not play sound when the seagull flaps its wings.
Fun Facts
Trivia
- This is another instance of Strong Bad checking more than one email.
- The first line of the two emails that Strong Bad pretended were addressed to The Cheat originally read "DEAR STRONG BAD!" and "Dear strong bad," respectively (punctuation and capitalization shown as in the originals).
- This is the only email with an exclamation mark in the title.
- The label on the disk in the floppy disk container reads "star flight".
- The YouTube description for this email is "Strong Bad is frustrated at all the emails asking about The Cheat. Probably the least descriptive title of all Strong Bad's emails."
Remarks
- Strong Bad knows perfectly well that The Cheat has a computer, as he used it in weird dream, forwarded an email to him in i she be, and has also evaluated Powered by The Cheat cartoons on it.
- Despite his usual disdain for birds, as displayed in the Teen Girl Squad comics, Strong Bad refers to the seagull as his wingèd friend. This may just be because he's relaxed, however.
- At the end of the second fake "Dear The Cheat" email, Strong Bad is heard hitting a key just as he usually does to clear the screen or bring up a new email. However, the email remains on-screen.
- The Cheat appears to be watching the email on the website, but as this email was produced before the menu bar was introduced, the menu bar below the email is missing.
Goofs
- After The Cheat leaves his computer to confront Strong Bad, the a> prompt disappears on the Compy and does not return until Strong Bad sticks the paper on the screen.
- The contrast buttons do not work after The Cheat leaves.
Inside References
- This is another mention of Strong Bad's typing with boxing gloves on.
- Strong Bad compares The Cheat to a cheese and an anvil.
- Wingèd is another instance of the -èd pronunciation.
- Strong Bad blatantly lies to The Cheat about getting emails addressed to him.
Fast Forward
- In cheatday, Strong Bad claims that he lets The Cheat answer emails once a year as a special treat.
- In Weclome Back, the Atari bird returns on the tropical island and passes Bubs's Baloney Sammich Truck.
- The Cheat is again compared to an anvil in retirement.
- In Date Nite, The Cheat is again compared to cheese.
DVD Version
- While take-a-break.exe isn't downloadable, a demo of the program can be viewed by clicking on a hidden Strong Bad icon in the bottom-left corner of the Compy 386's screen.
