Fun Facts

Explanations

  • A loud voice booming "Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!" is the classic style of advertising used for monster truck rallies.

Trivia

Remarks

  • For some reason, in the picture of Limozeen, there are four extra hands floating around the band members. One infront of Perry and Larry, one behind Perry, one behind Gary and the last one behind Larry.
  • No actual monster trucks appear in this email.
  • The writing on the box says "Ardboard Box".
  • Although Marzipan's guitar can play heavy metal music, it is actually made to be classical style.

Inside References

  • "Toons! Games! I'm gonna check my eeeemail...." is a reference to all the Main Pages.

Real-World References

  • The jumpsuit The Cheat is wearing is the same as the jumpsuit worn by the famous daredevil Evel Knievel during his famous motorcycle jumps.
  • The bottles of maple syrup around the cardboard box are designed similarly to those of Mrs. Butterworth's, a famous syrup brand.
  • The line "Let's do this like Brutus" comes from a skit on the De La Soul album "De La Soul Is Dead".
  • The chicken bucket that says "KnF'nC" is a reference to Guns N' Roses, who used the acronym "GnF'nR" during the Use Your Illusion era. The latest incarnation of the band contains guitarist Buckethead, who wears a KFC bucket on his head like a hat.

Commentary Transcript

(Commentary by: Matt Chapman, Mike Chapman)

MATT: We were just discussing, uh, how there are some Strong Bad Emails that really tip their hand with the name of them—

MIKE: The title, yeah.

MATT: Yeah, like this one.

MIKE: You kind of know what it's going to be about.

MATT: {almost simultaneously} Know what it's going to be about.

MIKE: Yeah.

MATT: This is—was this the first instan—nah, I guess he's always getting people's names wrong. That's a common theme.

MIKE: I don't know if that's—I don't know if he's—this... Maybe it's the first time.

MATT: Who knows?

MIKE: Somebody, uh, let us know. One of you callers. One of our callers will probably let us know.

MATT: Mike, we don't have callers.

MIKE: We should, uh, have a radio show.

MATT: Mike, no.

MIKE: Like, this is a radio show.

MATT: It's not.

MIKE: {adopts gravelly voice} All right, all right.

{Matt laughs}

MIKE: Uhm...

MATT: So here we go. That's The Cheat in his Evel Knievel outfit, obviously, which our mom made us for—or made our oldest brother first for Halloween—

MIKE: Yep.

MATT: —and then I think it got passed down to all of us. I think in, like, 1987 I was wearing an Evel Knievel {Mike laughs} and I, like, didn't know that he wasn't very popular anymore. And he says "Let's do this like Brutus" there, not "Buddhists." A lot of people think he says that, but that's just a, uh...comment. It's in a De La Soul song or it's on the De La Soul album "De La Soul is Dead." Doesn't Flavor Flav say it at some point?

MIKE: I think so, yeah.

MATT: KnF'nC. That's a reference to GnF'nR, Drivin' N' Cryin'.

MIKE: That's—

MATT: That's—all four of those are our big brother Donnie, very seriously in the year 1987 dressed as Vince Neil for Halloween. There you have it. And then a bunch of extra limbs.

{Mike laughs}

MATT: And of course, there you go. Limozeen given...wings...wings of steel {Mike laughs} you know, with which to fly.

Fun Facts

  • Drivin' N' Cryin' was a Southern rock band famous in the Georgia region that never really achieved national fame.
  • Vince Neil was lead singer for the band Mötley Crüe.
  • "Wings of steel" combined with the lyric "wings of a bat" refer to the 1960s cartoon Batfink, whose eponymous hero is a crime-fighting bat with steel wings.
