Bonus Menu transcript

{Again in 3D, the camera flies through the Rec Room past Strong Mad on the couch and The Cheat in the crisper drawer, both watching TV, on its way to the Trogdor arcade machine.}

THE CHEAT: {The Cheat noises}

STRONG MAD: Did you just say bonus stuff?

{After a 30 second pause, the camera pulls back to reveal Strong Bad has walked up to the machine.}

STRONG BAD: Alright choosey, time's up, I'm playing Trogdor. {He plays.} Oh yeah, don't stop a-squsihing. {He dies.} What? What's wrong with this stupid game? {He pounds the machine.}

Disc Two

FBI Warning

{The same standard FBI text appears on the screen. Homestar walks up, and looks at the warning. Homestar then spits a couple Teddy Grahams at the warning, and they stick}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: There. That's better!

{Homestar walks away}

Intro

{Cut to the computer desk, which has the old, taped-up Tandy 400 on it}

STRONG BAD: Hey there, old girl. Lookin' good {Strong Bad points out the window} Hey, what's what over there? {Strong Bad violently knocks the Tandy off the computer desk, and replaces it with the Compy 386} Now lay it on me, 386! {the 386 starts up} Oh, I love that little song.

{The Paper comes down with the menu options. After about 30 seconds, the Tandy 400 and Bad Graphics Ghost appear from the top of the screen}

STRONG BAD: GAH! GET OUT OF HERE, PIXEL GHOST!

{The Bad Graphics Ghost floats away}

STRONG BAD: Whew, that was a close one.

Disc Three

FBI Warning

{The same standard FBI text appears on the screen. Homestar walks on by the text}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Just passing through!

Intro

{Open to a shot of the Compy 386 at an angle. The text on the screen reads "baleeted." A 2-liter of Mountain Dew is nearby, and slowly leaking all over the computer desk and two floppies reading "where's an egg" and "peasant's quest." Slowly pans to Homestar at the computer.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {chucks a few floppies off to one side} What is that stupid word? {starts hitting head against keyboard to punctuate his words, causing some of its keys to fly out} WHAT! IS! THAT! STUPID! WORD! WHY! WON'T YOU! TELL ME! MR! COMPUTER! MAN!

{As he pounds his head on the keyboard, the text "whateeted," "is leted," "thateeted," "OUCH!," "my teeth!," and "my butt!!" appears on the screen. The Compy 386 then displays its Flagrant Error screen. The camera has now panned to the door. Strong Bad walks in and views this spectacle}

STRONG BAD: What in frig's crap?!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Uh-oh

STRONG BAD: How do you keep getting in here?

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I dunno... picked the lock?

STRONG BAD: Ohhh, touch

{The Paper comes down with the menu options. After about 30 seconds, Strong Bad peeks under The Paper}

STRONG BAD: Hey, what the crap are they doing out there?

{Homestar peeks under the paper as well}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: I don't see anybody. Maybe they're fixing a sandwich.

{Homestar sticks his head back under The Paper}

STRONG BAD: Oh. {shouting} Hey, bring us some Cold Ones when you get back in here!

{Strong Bad sticks his head back under The Paper}

Behind the Scenes

Hidden:

  • "Day at the Park," a hidden video featuring a CGI Homestar, Strong Bad, and The Cheat at the park.
  • "Some Extras," another hidden video featuring a lot of puppet stuff outtakes and behind the scenes materials.

Additional features

As well, the DVDs contain 40+ hidden characters/creator commentaries, which can be found on certain e-mails by switching the language. Instead of a different language, it has the commentaries. (On most DVD remotes, you can access the commentaries by pressing the "Audio" button on your remote.)

The DVDs are also region-free, which means they can be played in any country without modifications to the DVD player.

Easter Eggs

  • Most of the e-mails have three kinds of secrets:
    • Audio commentary: Access by pressing the "Audio" button. Not all e-mails have them.
    • Secret "angle": Access by pressing the "Angle" button. Usually used to display the short pop-ups that can appear when you click on random stuff during the e-mails.
    • Secret menu options: Once the e-mail is over, you can press Down from "Next" to find a hidden menu option, a little icon that looks like Strong Bad's head. You'll typically have to press down several times to find the hidden icon. Sometimes there's stuff hidden under "Again" or "Main", and sometimes you have to browse around (left/right) from other hidden options to find them all. (If you can't find your favorite easter egg, check the "DVD Version" section of your favorite e-mail in the Strong Bad Email section.)
  • To watch the long-lost toon "Tis True, Pom Pom, Tis True" on Disc One, highlight "Bonus Email #1" and press right until Strong Bad's head appears. Then press OK.
  • To watch Gary from Limozeen playing The Cheatar on Disc Two, highlight the "Trogdor!" karaoke track and press right until Strong Bad's head appears. Then press OK.
  • To watch some hidden making of puppet stuff on disc 3, go to the bonus menu and highlight "Some Puppet Stuff". Press right on your DVD remote until Strong Bad's head appears. Then press OK.
  • To watch some extra 3-D scenes on disc 3, highlight "3D Menu Tests" on the bonus menu and press right until Strong Bad's head appears. Then press OK.
  • At any of the 3-D menus (including the bonus), if you wait long enough Strong Bad will make a comment.

Fun Facts

  • The art for the three DVD covers (Strong Bad, Stinkoman, and Senor Cardgage) looks reminicent of the art on the Star Wars Trilogy on VHS. That set also featured a different half-face on each cover: Darth Vader, Yoda, and a Storm Trooper. (It could just be a coincidence. Strong Bad does have many faces.)
  • "Oh... my mouth tastes like... DVD" is a reference to morning routine, where Strong Bad says "my mouth tastes like... e-mail...".
  • Strong Sad's shouting of "Douglas!" is a reference to "cheat talk".
  • The lightswitch rave lightswitch is a reference to "techno".
  • Strong Mad's "Did you just say bonus stuff?" is a reference to "caffeine".
  • The Cheat laying in the crisper drawer is a reference to "privileges".
  • The FBI warning for Disc One is a reference to the Legal Stuff page.
  • The FBI warning for Disc Two contains a reference to "couch patch".
  • The intro for Disc Two is a reference to "invisibility".
  • The appearance of the Bad Graphics Ghost is a reference to "ghosts".
  • The intro for Disc Three is a gigantic reference to "50 emails".
  • The bottle of Mountain Dew is most likely a reference to "anything".
  • The intro for Disc One is a reference to "date".
  • The intro for Disc One is also a reference to "the show".
