The "M" stands for "Machine"

The ATM (Automated Teller Machine) is the mysterious money-dispensing device in the Homestar Runner world. The screen of the ATM is used as the Downloads menu and the full machine later appears as one of the key plot devices in Strong Sad's Experimental Film. It flashes the words "CHECK BALANCE??" and "MAKE DEPOSIT??" on the screen, and is apparantly capable of emulating an Atari 2600 system, allowing an altered version of Space Invaders to be played on it. In the film, it also apears in Powered By The Cheat form.
