Hi Angela. Actually, the bot isn't really "welcoming" you all that much, I think. It's just providing some starting points for a new user. And by the way, welcome back to you! {{User:Qermaq/sig}} 21:15, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

:To elaborate, the wording of the bot was chosen specifically such that it does ''not'' welcome anyone, nor does it thank the new user for creating an account (for the precise reason that we don't want it automatically welcoming vandals). It's just a list of helpful links. Welcomes come separately and are done by real people. — [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 21:25, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

::Ok. I was just concerned that an inappropriate name regarding trolls and wikia would show up in google results when it wouldn't have done if that bot had not created a talk page for that user. [[User:Angela|Angela]] 23:36, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

The Troll's talk page

User:First Time Here? is not a real user. It is a bot that is set up to automatically welcome new users. — Defender1031*Talk 17:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

I guess that's why it's better to have real humans welcome people instead of bots doing it. :) Angela 17:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
We do. This system just gives them some links to help acquaint them with the wiki, real people can then see their edits and style and offer them a much warmer, personal greeting. Notice that this user did not receive one. — Defender1031*Talk 17:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Regardless, we would have had a real user welcome this vandal anyway. Then we would have had to delete it as well, so that makes no difference. —BazookaJoe 17:50, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

To elaborate, the wording of the bot was chosen specifically such that it does not welcome anyone, nor does it thank the new user for creating an account (for the precise reason that we don't want it automatically welcoming vandals). Ok. I was just concerned that an inappropriate name regarding trolls and wikia would show up in google results when it wouldn't have done if that bot had not created a talk page for that user. Angela 23:36, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
