:To elaborate, the wording of the bot was chosen specifically such that it does ''not'' welcome anyone, nor does it thank the new user for creating an account (for the precise reason that we don't want it automatically welcoming vandals). It's just a list of helpful links. - We do. This system just gives them some links to help acquaint them with the wiki, real people can then see their edits and style and offer them a much warmer, personal greeting. Notice that this user did not receive one. — Defender1031*Talk 17:45, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
