The gross old wig was first seen in the Strong Bad Email time capsule. Homestar tries to get Strong Bad to put it in his 'time machine' 'So all the future peoples will know he had a gross old wig'. Strong Bad declines so Homestar puts it in a Freshley's time box where it is later found by 20X6 Homestar.
Please note that the gross old wig IS NOT the wig Homestar wore as part of his Kurt Cobain costume.
