- | First of all, thanks for doing gnome work! There's scarcely an article out there that wouldn't benefit from being gone over with a fine-toothed comb. I was wondering, however, if you'd elaborate a little bit in your edit summaries. "Gnome work" is such a large umbrella, after all. - | Hello, That'sBupkis. I see that you've been trying to do image summary cleanups, but you've been actually doing it very and completely wrong. The summary should have no periods, but instead look like this:
| + | == Technical issue == |
- | <blockquote><nowiki> == Summary ==</nowiki><br>
| + | |
- | <nowiki>A description with everything relevant [[linked]] correctly (from [[source toon]])</nowiki>
| + | |
- | </blockquote>
| + | |
- | Some image summaries were correct and then you actually ruined them, like [[:File:Cow on blackboard.png]]. Please go back through all the images and replace it with the appropriate formatting. Thanks, [[Special:Contributions/64.239.192.93|64.239.192.93]] 16:12, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

- | ::We're going for a consistent standard here, that was the point of the project's creation. It's also more than that, much of the relevant links were not added, descriptions were not expanded to be as detailed as possible, etc. {{User:DeFender1031/sig}} 16:58, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

- | ::::A consistent standard is a good thing, and I agree with it. What I don't agree with is the original !anonny's statement that That'sBupkis "ruined" anything. Changing something to non-standard is not ruining it (a rather strong statement), even though it's a mistake, especially since it was reverted quickly. That'sBupkis: I know your image edits were meant in good faith, and I'm glad to see you making them. Still, I suggest reading [[HRWiki:Image Summary Cleanup]] so you better understand the procedures we need you to adhere to. Then you'll be able to help us out well. Thanks, and keep on tranglin'! {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 17:43, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

- | Hey, That'sBupkis. I just wanted to point out a couple of tweaks ({{p|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=File:Cheat_smiling_1.PNG&curid=25660&diff=666034&oldid=666024 here}} and {{p|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=File:Cheat_Head_Explosion1.PNG&curid=2399&diff=666030&oldid=666011 here}}) I made to some summaries you recently edited, to help illustrate what we're going for. In the first one, I added more to the description and added another link. In the second one, I made the link more specific and cleaned up the wording some. Note also that there usually {{p|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=File:Cheatsuit.png&diff=666047&oldid=666045 doesn't need to be a period}} between the description and the (from <nowiki>[[toon]]</nowiki>) part. - | Hi That'sBupkis,
| + | |
- | Thanks for helping with streamlining the templates. However, you need to be more {{pl|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Template%3Ahalloweennav&diff=676040&oldid=676037 careful}} when making large changes to templates as any minor mistake (or omission) can break things in other pages without much fanfare. (In the case above, you removed a category that's being added to the pages that use it, and added an id that may possibly break stuff in other pages.) It's better that you only make changes that you're absolutely sure won't break anything and ask experienced editors for help otherwise. Thanks. --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 22:03, 20 September 2009 (UTC) | + | |
- | :Besides the <code>id="navbox"</code> and the template parameter he removed, is it still safe to convert to a MediaWiki table? Again, thanks That'sBupkis for helping. As my [[User:Soiled Bargains|user page]]'s new userbox says, I'm not really able to contribute as much as I normally would. {{User:Soiled Bargains/sig}} 20:48, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

- | ::Hey That'sBupkis, please refrain from making edits to the {{tl|extlinks}} template for the time being. I am not sure what it is that you're testing but if you want to test template behavior there are other less invasive ways to do so. At the moment your tests are invalidating a bunch of pages and putting a little more stress on the server than there needs to be. If you're trying to make a change in a template please ask someone more experienced with editing templates for help before undergoing such a highly-impacting endeavour. Thanks. --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 00:24, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
| + | |
- | :::Sorry about that. I was just trying to see if there was a way where it could be like: <nowiki>{{extlinks|<toon>|<forum>|<youtube video id>}}</nowiki>. {{User:That'sBupkis/sig}} 00:30, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

- | ::::No problem, it's always good to keep in mind that editing templates have far-reaching and unforseen consequences, so it should always be done carefully and fully knowing what one is doing. --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 00:47, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

- | == Youtube links ==
| + | |
- | | + | |
- | Hey That'sBupkis,
| + | |
- | | + | |
- | Thanks for adding the youtube links to the articles that need it. If you could make use of the existing template facilities (see {{pl|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=geddup_noise&diff=679671&oldid=679642 this example}} and {{pl|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Biz_Cas_Fri_1&diff=679675&oldid=679635 this example}}) it would help make the links look more uniform and help make the page easier to maintain. Thanks and keep on tranglin'! --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 23:25, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
| + | |
- | *Thanks for the notice. I'll start fixing the rest. I don't mind this, btw. {{User:That'sBupkis/sig}} 23:39, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
| + | |
- | ::Cool, again, thanks for the help. Another thing to keep in mind is that currently, there is no way to link to youtube likes that begin with an underscore _. {{pl|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=Teen_Girl_Squad_Issue_10&diff=679697&oldid=679695 So these must be linked manually.}} Hopefully a fix will come but until then, there's little else we can do. (Also, be careful when copying/pasting the templates as it's easy to forget to update all the fields.) --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 23:54, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
| + | |
- | :::I've [[User:Stux/Youtube Issues|created a page]] so that we can track such instances. If you come across or add new pages with such links please feel free to add links to them there. --[[User:Stux|Stux]] 00:00, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
| + | |
- | ::::Re, {{pl|l=http://www.hrwiki.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AStux%2FYoutube_Issues&diff=679743&oldid=679741 your last addition}}: Just to be clear what the problem is: any youtube links that begin with an underscore get the underscore automatically converted to a space which is then removed before making the actual link. That is why the link shows up without the underscore. This is automatically done by Mediawiki and there's nothing we can do about that on our end. A workaround will have to be done on the wiki software itself and that is out of our hands. So, page links with underscores in them aren't the problem, just page links that begin with them. Makes sense?--[[User:Stux|Stux]] 00:47, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

| + | |
- | | + | |
- | Hey there, That'sBupkis. Just a note to let you know that [[HRWiki:Da Basement/Archive 6#Welcome Messages|we don't want canned welcomes]]. That's what the automatic links are for. We definitely want people leave a personalized message on a new user's talk page, but not using a template. Thanks! — [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 21:57, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
| + | |
- | :I noticed you copied the verbiage from your template onto your user page and are pasting it onto user talk pages. The point isn't the template itself, it's that we don't want people pasting a one-size-fits-all message to new users. Again, that's why we have the bot add links to new users' pages, so that real users can come along later and give real, ''personalized'' welcomes. — [[User:It's dot com|It's dot com]] 23:29, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
