Welcome to the Welcoming Committee of the Homestar Runner Wiki
Who We Are
The welcoming committee is a group of people who greet new users with a kind welcome and help them get started (if needed). If you want to help out, the most obvious thing you can do is post welcome messages, and be friendly and helpful with new users you meet. Below is a list to which you can sign your name if you want to join our group.
Note that this confers neither responsibilities nor privileges, but if you join, please do some welcoming (so we won't clutter up this page full of members), and now some techinal know-how of the wiki (for any questions they might have).
Members need to be careful not to bite the new members (don't "yell", etc.).
Standards for Welcoming
A good welcome message should be around the lines of
- "Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me (you should probably link your user name to "me") or any other users. We're glad to have you as a member!"
or
- "Welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki! We're glad to have you as a member! If you need any help, ask me or any others on the Welcoming Committee. Again, welcome to the Homestar Runner Wiki!"
You get the idea. Be as kind and welcoming as possible and answer any questions they might have. You may want to weave in TheMediaWiki User's Guide HRWiki:Standards and/or HRWiki:FAQ
