- | :I don't think you should. Better to leave that to the sysop making the block. Also, it needs to be better worded than this. - | == Lost in Translation ==
| + | |
- | Hey Heimstern. For your translation of "The King of Town" (Der König der Stadt), literally, that means "The King the town". Wouldn't it be better to say something like "Der Stadtkönig" or "Der König von Stadt"? I'm only in German I, so obviously my translation wouldn't compare to yours. But nonetheless, could you provide feedback?
| + | |
- | | + | |
- | --{{User:Zerlock1124/sig}} 23:28, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
| + | |
- | :Good question, Zerlock. Here's my answer: although "von" is sometimes used to translate the English "of", it's also very common to simply change the noun into the genitive case. In this case, the noun is "die Stadt". Changing it to the genitive makes it "der Stadt". So "Der König der Stadt" is actually "The King of (the) Town" because "Stadt" is in the genitive. {{User:Heimstern Läufer/sig}} 23:32, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
