Name of navigation bar

Is there some particular (canonical) reason we call it the "NavBar" instead of the "Navigation Bar" or "main_nav" (the filename)? — It's dot com 17:32, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Except for the fact that it's easier to write, I don't see any. seems like it's already spread around the wiki and several users call it that way. I searched left and wide, but the only canonical reference I found was in virus commentary when Mike say "...and there's little words at the bottom." Nothing else.
