1936 is era in which the Homestar cartoons allegedly originate from. They are in black and white, with grainy footage. The characters look and sound different from their modern-day counterparts, and often have different personae.
There is also a 1933 era which predates 1936, which had silent movies. It includes the original run of the Homestar cartoons, a series of 22 second shorts each called Kick the Can.
The Homestar Runner is Mike Chapman's favourite character in the entire HSR universe. Mike thinks he's a lot smarter and aware of what’s going on than modern-day Homestar.
