In Marzipan's Answering Machine #17, [about 28:50 in](https://youtu.be/DQO1RHETKy4?si=ung1eRCYh1abt6iE&t=1735), Tucker Donaldson from campussafety.gov says: "We hired you and your band Cool Tapes — ha, real clever." Is there some joke in the band name that hasn't been recognized by now? Or do you think he's just impressed by the thought of calling your band cool in the very name?... Ding! Cool Tapes is a featured article, which means it showcases an important part of the Homestar Runner body of work and/or highlights the fine work of this wiki. We also might just think it's cool. If you see a way this page can be updated or improved without compromising previous work, feel free to contribute.

[edit] Based on Graffiti

That sound similar to the origin of "Smells Like Teen Spirit."--Jnelson09 15:54, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

Interesting point. Worthy of mentioning on the talk page at least, but it probably fits a little better on the Cool Things page. I've moved the discussion. --TheNicestGuy 18:07, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Guitar

  • Strong Mads Bass Guitar appears to be a jet black Hofner Icon.

I don't know enough about guitars to know if this is true or not. Is there something distinctive about it that someone can confirm? — Defender1031*Talk 15:38, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Style

Does this remind anyone else of the band 'Swell Maps?' —Anonymous Contributor

[edit] Strong Mad's classification

So, he's listed as just a basist, but he also did vocals on "My Face (Please Don't Stick Needles In It)". Should it be changed to (bass/vocals)? AwkwardFire 18:15, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

So, apparently only the lead vocalist gets named as "vocals", but he did do lead vocals on "My Face"... so... any suggestions? AwkwardFire 04:27, 29 November 2008 (UTC)
Maybe it should say (bass/backup vocals)? --68.49.4.116 02:09, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] marzipan amps = parody of marshall amps

is it just me or do those "marzipan" amps parody the marshall amps? Sinderboard and plaster 18:26, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

It's already mentioned on the pages of the toons that include the amps. Not totally sure why it's not mentioned here, but clearly other people must agree with you. --Jay (Gobble) 18:42, 29 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Not Very Nice on SBCG4AP DVD

Anyone have a download of the extended version, or a link to it? SBE-mail Checker Dan 17:32, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

[edit] Seasonal sweaters

Was seasonal sweaters made by cool tapes, or was it made just by marzipan? Mml554 talk

[edit] Actual Lyrics

I was listening to the H*R music playlists that got released on YouTube recently, and without the flash-crust muting or whatever you call it, I'm pretty sure that line 3 in the Weclome Back song is actually "Kick it down with our real fruit flavor". — 24.226.109.252 (Talk | contribs) 15:02, 10 April 2020 (UTC) (left unsigned)

And “real fruit flavor” is a phrase they’ve referenced elsewhere. -50.234.189.37 16:35, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
I hear that too. Changed accordingly. Lira (talk) 19:23, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
