Time?

Does everyone agree Monday would be the best day of the week? I'm thinking of widening the time out to an hour earlier and an hour later (i.e. 2-6pm Pacific, etc). How does that sound? — Joey (talk·edits) 00:16, 21 May 2005 (UTC)

Brit and Aussie chats?

I haven't figured out how to word it concisely, but we should note that 5–9 pm ET is 21:00–1:00 UTC during Daylight Time, 22:00–2:00 UTC during standard time. — It's dot com 05:04, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

I don't know whether there are many people overseas missing out, but the times scheduled at the moment is 7 AM to 11 AM on a Tuesday for Australian Eastern Standard Time (or 6.30 - 10.30 for Central Standard Time, or 5 AM to 9 AM for Western Standard Time). And daylight savings is plus one hour. I'm think we should just change "GMT" to "UTC", because GMT is one hour ahead of UTC in the summer. I'm going to create a little table with the time in different timezones. And this thing is useful for figuring out times on different timezones. «Rob» 10:06, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

I realize Rainer put a lot of effort into the time zone table, but it's incorrect. It lists the times for New York as 4:00pm–8:00pm, with a note (way down at the bottom) that you should add an hour in the summer. But this is not true—If I read correctly what Joey wrote, then it will always be 5–9pm ET, regardless of whether the U.S. is currently observing Daylight Saving Time. Therefore, one could say that the schedule is based on current continental American time, not Universal Time (UTC). In other words, the chat is from 21:00 to 1:00 when the United States is observing Daylight Time, 22:00 to 2:00 when it is not. Perhaps this creates extra work down the road, but we could scrap the notes at the bottom, correct the table for current conditions, and update the table each time daylight savings changes occur. — Joey (talk·edits) 15:36, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

I did away with the coplicated table. (Sorry, Rainer.) In its place there's a link to the World Time Server, which will let users quickly and easily choose their time zone to figure the start time. The link is dynamic, so it should always give accurate information no matter what the time of year (with the small exception already noted on the page). I also simplified which U.S. time zones were listed on the page to just Eastern/Pacific, since it's less cluttered, and I think most people are used to that from TV anyway. — It's dot com 18:01, 23 May 2005 (UTC)

Thoroughly Confused!!!

I'm a Mac-user, and none of these IRC clients have a program for Mac. I'm sickeningly horrible with computers, so I have no clue how to get any of this up and running. Whenever I use the chat without a client, it says it can't connect! Can someone help me out here please? -- Homeschool Winner 00:16, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
