Talk:Virus Character Variations

I see Garfunkel has already made this correction, but I would like to add that Pixelated is a real word (since the tag for his edit indicated it was not):
Pixelated (adj.) (1) Describes an image in which individual pixels are apparent to the naked eye. Typically, the separate square pixels in bitmapped images such as GIFs do not appear individually. When the image is displayed too large or at a low resolution the image becomes pixelated (this is sometimes done purposely for special effect).
(2) Describes an image that has been converted from print to a digitized image, such as a GIF.
- Oh, thank you. That's good to know. :) --Garfunkel 21:01, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Well, Wiktionary spells it pixellated. --Jay (Gobble) 21:04, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
- Hey, that's true. This is interesting. "Pixellated" is used 7 times already here on the wiki, and "pixelated" is used 20 times. On Dictionary.com (and yes, I should have used an online dictionary in the first place when I looked it up), "pixellated" seems to redirect to "pixelated," (contradicting Wiktionary which redirects the other way around.) "Pixellated" comes up on Yahoo! Search 139,000 times, while "pixelated" comes up 1,020,000 times. It's confusing and probably a matter of preference, but I think pixelated is more standard. --Garfunkel 21:11, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
