Using Show Preview
Hello, and thanks for contributing to the HRWiki. I want to point out the Show Preview button. It's right next to the Save Page button when you edit. You should use it whenever you are making a lot of experimental edits, for example when you are trying to get formatting right. Using the Show Preview button is quicker and easier than saving and clicking "edit" again, and will keep recent changes and page histories from being flooded. Thanks. Hi, Gert7. I wanted to point out a page on the wiki called Recent Changes. This is where many users monitor all the edits which take place on the wiki. If you look at it and scroll down to about the time of this post, you'll see a LONG sequence of changes to your user space by you. This is an example of what we often call "flooding Recent Changes" - and it's undesirable because it makes it more difficult to discern malicious edits, etc.
So, how to edit your user page without flooding? Next to the "Save changes" button there's a "Show preview" button. This enables you to see your changes, alter them if you don't like how they came out, etc. but the edit is not yet saved to the wiki. Then once you've got it like you want it, you can save and you have accomplished a lot of user page edits without flooding.
Hope this info is helpful to you, and keep on tranglin'. - Qermaq - (T/C) 10:08, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
