Belated welcome!

Seems like you've been around for a while, but it looks like you may never have been properly welcomed. Please forgive me and the other members of the welcoming committee for this unfortunate oversight. You seem to know your way around, so I won't bore you with newcomer tips (although you're free to read my generic welcome message if you'd like). We appreciate you being here and hope you're having a good time contributing to our knowledge-base and our community. — wikisig.gif Joey (talk·edits) 19:24, 12 May 2005 (UTC)

My 2 weeks notice?

To whom it may concern: I hearby do announce my retirement from this Wiki.

This is in no small part from the increased political-ness around here and the horrible, horrible stuff page. If there is anything that needs to be baleeted, the stuff page is it.

Why do we need to be distracted by voting on fun facts and administering STUFF all of the time? I think the only reason a fun fact should even considered for deletion is if the applicable page already has too many. (Virus was spawning 10 fun facts a day, and yes that was too much, but STUFF was the wrong way to fix it.)

When I see people stuffing these tiny facts that I consider interesting, it makes me sad. Oh, and I think it should be at LEAST 75% in favor of removing an article for it to be removed, not just simple majority.

You know what a better idea might be? Instead of REMOVING the fun facts from a page, why not have one of those plus in a box symbols underneath the 'popular' fun facts that would expand, a la windows explorer, to reveal all the fun facts submitted. That would leave 5 or so of the 'best' FF on top, but all would still be visible if you wanted to drill down that far.

That, or just don't remove them at all and leave them alone. Because people who write in a fun fact did it for a reason. They thought that the words they were spending their time typing were relevant and would be enjoyed. When people come in and critique it, and diss it every which way, and have it removed by vote, that hurts. I know, because I have fought passionetly for Fun Facts that I submitted that got sent away anyway, when there was no need for it! I thought they were good, or else I wouldnt have spent the time writing it!

So, I suppose I will take my leave of this beurocracy. And this is no slam on Joeyday, he is a fine admin, but some of the other people here just feel they have to stick thier head in everything and ruin it. I will still use this site as a HR resource but I am done contributing. Good luck without me, and I hope you see the error of your ways, pro-stuffers.
