Facefaults

The way Homestar and Pom Pom fall over after Marzipan reveals the real reddest radish is similar to a popular sight gag from Japanese animation called a facefault. When a character in a comedy series experiences great surprise, frustration or annoyance, they will often fall over on their faces as a sign of just how stupified they are.

  • Not only is this not a facefault (a facefault is the dropping of the jaw), but it's not even unique to Japanese animation. The scene in question is just an exagerrated expression by the characters for the purpose of humor.
