{We start with a familiar scene, Compy. Except Strong Bad isn't there, and there's a Post-It on the screen saying "in da basement -sb".}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: {offscreen} Strong Bad! {walks up to the computer} Hey Strong Bad, can I borrow your fondue pot again? Oh. You're not here. I'll get to the bottom of this! {sits down at the computer and starts typing. While he says everything correctly, he misspells stuff}

Dear Stong Bah, Where are you? Your friend Homestar

{Homestar notices the note.} Oh! "In da basement. From SB." Ohhh, that must stand for Stong Bah. {he stands up and heads for da basement. Upon arriving he finds Strong Bad, Strong Mad, and the Cheat playing TROGDOR! the arcade game.} Hey guys! Whatcha playin'?

STRONG BAD: Uh, playin'? No, we're, uh, we're doing the Cheat's taxes.

STRONG MAD: W-2!!!

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Booring. I don't wanna play that.

{Homestar walks off. The game blips.}

STRONG BAD: Argh! Stupid peasant. {He kicks the arcade machine, which says in a computer voice "Trogdor!"} Whoah! Pretty cool! {He kicks it twice more, with the same results.} All right, who's next? {The Cheat)) makes Cheat noises.} Okay, fine. {Strong Bad gets off the stool to let the Cheat on, but he just looks at Strong Bad, makes more noises.} Oh, right. Here ya go, little buddy. {He lifts him onto the stool and the theme music begins playing. As soon as it's over...}

STRONG BAD and STRONG MAD: TROGDOR!

{The game says "Trogdor!" and the Cheat begins playing.}

STRONG BAD: Whoah, nice move! You're the master!

{((The paper)) comes down with a link to play the Trogdor arcade game. After a little while, Homestar comes back with a stack of papers.}

HOMESTAR RUNNER: Hey, can you guys do my taxes next? ... You guys? ... Man, that's one big adding machine.

Easter Eggs

  • On the Monday following ((StrongBadEmail/the show|the show)), there was no new ((StrongBadEmail)). Instead, there was a post-it note that said "In da Basement". If you clicked on it, it took you to the aformentioned toon short.
  • When ((Homestar Runner|Homestar)) is using ((Strong Bad))'s computer the contrast knobs are missing, but you can click on them.
  • If you wait for ((Homestar Runner|Homestar)) to come by and ask them to do his taxes - after he says, "Man that is one big adding machine" you can click on the ((TROGDOR!)) game to make it say "((Trogdor))"
  • You can click on the top of ((Homestar Runner|Homestar))'s pile of papers to see his expenses.
  • When you have ((Homestar Runner|Homestar))'s expenses displayed, you can click and hold on the last item in the list "straps and practice" to see a picture of something.

Fun Facts

  • Homestar's Expenses
$150: pork b/w beans
$2000: witch's brew
$4000: refinance my hat
$2.07: gift for ((Marzipan))
$1000: ((Fluffy Puff))s
$500: monthly protection to ((Strong Bad))
$500: monthly protection to ((Strong Mad))
$500: monthly protection to ((The Cheat))
$75: straps and practice
It comes out to $8727.07.
  • Pork b/w beans is a reference to ((StrongBadEmail/helium)) , in which ((Marzipan)) and ((Homestar Runner|Homestar)) discuss the subject briefly. The abbreviation "w/" for "with" is not used, instead it's "b/w" which was used on old vinyl records and singles to refer to the B-side ("b/w" = "backed with").
  • Witch's Brew is, of course, a reference to the holiday toon ((Pumpkin Carve-nival)), in which one ((Homestar Runner|Homestar)) uses the phrase excessively.
  • ((Strong Mad)) says "W-2!" when ((Homestar Runner|Homestar)) comes out. W-2 is an IRS tax form.
  • The page title "Quite exciting this computer magic" is a quote from the movie "This Is Spinal Tap". One of the band members says it while playing Atari in the tour bus.
  • The top paper in ((Homestar Runner|Homestar))'s stack of papers says important document #402 (zoom in).
