Could "Dead as a doornail!" be a reference to the line "Old Marley was dead as a doornail." in A Christmas Carol? That's the first thing that came to my mind.

"Dead as a doornail" is just a common phrase. Dickens was not the first to use it (found a reference to Shakespeare). Nice theory though. You could put it in stuff if you want. Homestar Coder 07:53, 8 Jul 2005 (UTC)

I hear "So here I come back" also. I guess it's hard to here because Homestar says "characters" at about the same time.---Strongglad
