Korea is a peninsula in East Asia. Since the early 1950s, it's been divided into two countries with opposing regimes: the communist, isolationist Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the capitalist, market-driven Republic of Korea (South Korea).
[edit] Appearances
- Email montage (DVD commentary) — Marzipan says that Homestar Runner is trained in Tae Kwon Do.
- Inkhole Interview — Matt Chapman recounts that Rusty told them that if there were Korean subtitles, it would become one of the most popular websites in Korea "within a week".
- Email the paper — In one of the flashback scenes, Strong Bad tells The Paper that he thought he was still in Pyongyang.
- On Break — Coach Z says his mascot suit smells like damp, moist, and kimchi, a fermented cabbage dish from Korea.
- Strong Badia the Free — Marzistar/Homezipan follows the pattern of countries that were divided in two during proxy wars, with Korea being the only one today. Marzistar is implied to be communist (like North Korea) and Homezipan, according to Strong Bad, a monarchy (even though South Korea is a republic). However, unlike those examples, Marzistar/Homezipan uses a unified flag, while divided countries created from such conflicts use different flags, or, like what happened during the two Germanies, the flag of the other country with a variation.
