Biography

Strong Sad is the depressing character. The youngest of the Brothers Strong, he is represented as both intellectual and creative, but his genius is usually overwhelmed by his depression. Strong Sad has been seen energetic only when under the influence of caffeine or shock radio. When Strong Bad and Strong Sad were younger, they seemed to get along, but nowadays Strong Sad suffers almost constant abuse from Strong Bad. In fact, he is often the subject of Strong Bad, The Cheat, and Strong Mad's practical jokes, and Strong Bad has quite a list of nicknames he's used to insult Strong Sad. In turn, Strong Sad has a very low opinion of his older brother and considers him to be a clueless weirdo, which is usually true. Unfortunately (for Strong Sad), his opinions usually fall upon deaf ears. The rest of the cast tolerate him, but also discourage him. He has an iPod and loves to play board games. His interests include listening, books, listening to books, calligraphy, poetry, safety, being alone, arts, crafts, and arts b/w crafts. He is also a poet. He seems to enjoy going to Cons, as seen in different town and TrogdorCon '97. He keeps a blog, updated sometimes, that is referred to as Strong Sad's Lament. There is a Strong Sad Lookalike Contest held annually. He has perfect handwriting and elephant-like feet, preferably called "soolnds". Apparently, his only friends are Marzipan, whom he seems to have a crush on, and Homsar.

STRONG SAD: I don't wanna do a characters page!

MARZIPAN: Oh, come on, you can do it!

{Marzipan takes the lens cap off, and we can see Strong Sad.}

STRONG SAD: I'm not really comfortable talking to a camera.

MARZIPAN: {offscreen} Just pretend like you're talking to me, or a wall, or a tree, or any of the other stuff that you usually talk to.

STRONG SAD: Ohhhhhh! My name's Strong Sad and... I have two brothers that like to pummel me every hour, on the hour. I mostly sit in my room, and... listen to music, and write, and talk to walls or trees... and wait to be pummeled... I guess I like board games more than most people. And by that I mean I like to play board games more than most people do. But by that I also mean I like board games more than I like most people. Like this one time, me and Hi-Ho Cherry-O! were playing The Game of Life, and I got a phone call from... Coach Z or somebody. And, I didn't answer it because I was having such a good time with playing this board game, against this other board game...

MARZIPAN: {offscreen} Okay, I think that's enough, Strong Sad.

STRONG SAD: And it got me thinking, you know? Two lovers... collide...

MARZIPAN: {offscreen and clearly disturbed} Okay, okay, I'm turning it off now. {The camera stops.}

Fun Facts

• Matt Chapman has said that Strong Sad is the most difficult character to voice due to how delicate he sounds. If Matt strains his voice too much before recording, he actually can't do Strong Sad at all (which led to Mike substituting for Strong Sad's one word in cheat talk).
• During the "filming" of Strong Sad's character page, he runs his finger up and down the border of the left camera frame when he says "talk to walls or trees", even though his wall is much further left, as can be seen in the background poster.
