Since nobody is responding to me on the Talk:WikiTroll page, I'm going to post something here. You blocked 69.50.184.213 (a spammer). No complaints... except that you didn't really stop him. This guy's been around for a while, always putting the same links on the same pages, and he changes IP addresses rapidly - I call him 69.50.1*, because that's what form all his IP addresses take. There's a huge section on him on the WikiTroll page. If my calculations and knowledge of IP addresses are right, he has roughly eight thosand different IP addresses to choose from (the third frame can be anything from 160 to 191, if my knowledge serves me well - maybe even more. And the fourth frame can theoretically be anything from 0 to 255.) I'm not a mod so I don't know - is there any way to block his entire IP range instead of each of his eight thousand IP addresses one-by-one? Or do we just have to put up with it? --[[User:Jay|Jay]] 07:52, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I should be able to block any IP range. I did a search on ARIN WHOIS and found that the entire range from 69.50.160-69.50.191.255 belongs to "ATRIVO TECHNOLOGIES" a quick search for that shows that company responsible for all manner of shenanigans from spam to downright fraud. I will attempt to block the whole range to end this here and now. [[User:Drhaggis|<nowiki></nowiki>]]- [[User:Drhaggis|Dr Haggis]] - [[User talk: Drhaggis|Talk]] 22:12, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Amazing work

Talk about good pages! Your work on Strong Bad Sings CD and Crazy Go Nuts University shines through. This almost makes me consider a "featured page of the week" or something. Keep it up! -- Tom 15:58, 15 Sep 2004 (MST)

Thanks Tom, glad I can help out!. Drhaggis 16:42, 15 Sep 2004 (MST)

Yeah, I've seen this those pages. They freakin' rule, man. Well done! --Depressio

Preferences

Hey, if you're up for a challenge of a page, go to 'preferences' (Top right, between talk and watchlist), then click on the HRWiki:User preferences help link. you can click on this one too, but it's good to be in the right place so you know what the link asks for... I started it, but I'm not doing too well... Thunderbird 14:40, 1 Nov 2004 (MST)

Page Edit Comments

Could you kindly explain what some of your page edit comments mean? I like how concise they are and I think I'd like to start using them myself. Some are obvious, like "+cat", but what does "+wiki" mean? Does that mean the page is new? Or does it mean you've wikified it by adding links? I just used it to mean the latter, but I'm now having second thoughts that it may mean the former. Thanks in advance for setting me straight. (Hm. Now that I'm asking you this, I've just looked back through your past 1,000 edits and it seems you aren't using this convention anymore, preferring "add category" to the simple "+cat". I'd still like to know what "+wiki" meant, though. I remember seeing it a lot early on.) --JoeyDay 23:27, 22 Nov 2004 (MST)

No problem. Most of my comments should be obvious, but sometimes brevity can conflict with communication. "+wiki" should be synonymous with "wikification" or "wikify". It mean adding links, some minor formatting, perhaps adding image tags to get a new article or a stub up to the most basic of standards. I got away from the "+cat" shorthand because I was worried about people understanding what I was doing. Some people write essays in their comment box, most leave it blank, which is frustrating and time consuming. - [[User:Drhaggis|Dr Haggis]] 14:32, 23 Nov 2004 (MST)

Special Task Request

Whats Up Doc? Thunderbird here again, with a special task for a few of my fellow users. On the Sketchbook page, in the Museum section of that page, the last picture is a bunch of rejected halloween costume ideas. The caption gives the challenge '10 bucks to anyone who can identify them all'. So what I propose is to identify them all. I've already set up a basic 'top left to bottom right' type list under the 'Description' section, with the two most obvious costumes in it. But can we get the other costumes, and win ourselves $10? Any costumes you know would be a help. Thanks. [[User:Thunderbird L17|⇔Thunderbird⇔]] 02:13, 2 Jan 2005 (MST)

Thanks! That was awsome. So THEY think that the missing one is Belle, but you're not convinced? Neither am I. I'll look into it for a while, keep me posted if you find anything better. Thanks though, that was awsome work. I now know who to come to next time I am unable to complete my self-designated task. How could I have not figured out hellboy...? Quick Question

Since you do most of the formatting ect. around here, I figured I'd come to you with this question. What should I do with the Floppy Disk Container and Halloween Costumes? They're both in the top five for large pages! Halloween costumes I figure I could seperate into seperate pages per-toon, what do you think of that? And what about Floppy Disk Container? Two or three more floppies, and it could become the largest page on the site! Thanks for your input. [[User:Thunderbird L17|⇔Thunderbird⇔]] 17:32, 6 Jan 2005 (MST)

That's true, sorting by character WOULD probably be easier to find, and I kind of like the idea too, being able to compare the costumes per-character easily. But then again it would mean more pages, ESPECIALLY if characters such as The Goblin, Homsar, and even Stinkoman get their own pages for only a few costumes. Would grouping them into two or three characters a page be a good idea, or should each character be seperate? I really think that SOMETHING should be done however, especially before the next toon.

I agree with you on Floppy Disk Container though, I guess we could just leave it for a few more floppies. What about maybe cutting it into 25 or so disk blocks, and just link from the main floppy page to something like 'Page One' and 'Page Two'? I really like the explanations the way they are though, I REALLY don't want to shorten (m)any of them. [[User:Thunderbird L17|⇔Thunderbird⇔]] 18:46, 6 Jan 2005 (MST)

Google

ED!smilde I found that description when I searched for the flash file on the site. Try "yo" site:homestarrunner.com in Google.

Thank you!

Thank you so much for the Barnstar! I shall use it for good -- I mean, for awesome. I'm moving it to my userpage right away! -- FortyTwo 19:19, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)

Note

You might want to change the Strong Bad Sings CD link on your page to link to Strong Bad Sings and Other Type Hits. I would do it myself, but I just wouldn't feel right editing someone else's userpage. --TheNintenGenius 21:44, 24 Jan 2005 (MST)

Sysop

Just letting you know, you have been given sysop privileges. If you have any questions, never hesitate to ask. Thanks. -- Tom 20:52, 5 Feb 2005 (MST)

Thanks guys! I promise to only use my powers for good. Or for awesome. But not both at the same time, that’s just silly. Rock, Rock on! - Dr Haggis - Talk 10:10, 6 Feb 2005 (MST)

Congrats, and welcome to the team. We're confident you'll do a great jorb. JoeyDay (Talk) 23:00, 27 Feb 2005 (MST)
Congraturations, Doc. You've accomplished what folks like me and him only dream of. Maybe it's the 'doc'. Sounds more proffessional perhaps? Oh well, for whatever reason, congrats. [[User:Thunderbird L17|⇔DoctorBird⇔]] 12:43, 7 Mar 2005 (MST)

Work On The Name Page

Dr Haggis, I have to tell you, I love what you've done with the Strong Bad Email By Name page. The table of contents, lining up the tables, it just looks so great. I really appreciate it when someone with actual 'coding' expertice comes along and fixes my base pages. If you want to eventually do the same to the place page, be my guest. Keep up the good work. [[User:Thunderbird L17|⇔Thunderbird⇔]] 16:55, 26 Mar 2005 (MST)

Inappropiate Context?

My friend wants to know if this other character email on the Fanbase is legal, or if it he would get in trouble if he makes it public. Can you help? -- Joshua 09:08, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)

TBC hold trademarks on the names and likenesses of their characters, so to recreate their images for commercial gain is against civil law. Public use for artistic reasons is a grey area, depending on what he does. If he makes a toon that looks and sounds like Homestar Runner with the intent of mimicking them and not, for example, parodying them he could get a nasty letter from a lawyer. If your friend really wants to make a toon and cares about such legal issues, he really should think about coming up with original characters and situations. - Dr Haggis - Talk 22:01, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)
No, no, no, you misunderstood. It's not really a toon, it's just a story. There's hundreds of them of the fanbase. My friend just wants to know if the whole neutering part is fine or if it's inappopriate for this website. --Joshua
