Splitting even the small pages
Jay, did you REALLY have to split the email pages that had only one or two fun facts? That just makes things a lot more cluttered as far as layout goes. --TheNintenGenius 10:16, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
- Yes I did. Consistency. And it's not THAT cluttered, compared to the way that the newer emails used to be. --Jay 10:45, 17 Jan 2005 (MST)
Mr. So-and-so-er-sad
Dear Jay,
Did you know So and So's t-shirt has Strong Sad's face on it?
Cyrius 17:07, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)
WOW! NO WAY! I hadn't noticed that! In no way is that already in the transcript that I wrote the first draft of in the first place! --Jay 17:15, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)
Frustration of frustrations! It's all they ever add! -- Cyrius 23:07, 20 Jan 2005 (MST)
Updating standards
Hi there Jay. If you're still up for it, you can add those fun fact changes to the HRWiki:Standards page. I think that might ease your frustrations a bit. -- Tom 11:36, 26 Jan 2005 (MST)
- Actually, this is my last update before I have to go to class. But if someone else doesn't, I may just add them in, oh, about an hour. Also, I'm in an easily-frustratable mood today (cat kept me up last night.) --Jay 11:40, 26 Jan 2005 (MST)
- Poor little kitty. Yeah, there is no rush. I think we can all wait a few hours or so. -- Tom 11:46, 26 Jan 2005 (MST)
- More like poor little me when she doesn't want to let me sleep (which is fortunately not most nights.) --Jay 01:37, 30 Jan 2005 (MST)
I apologize
Ok, look Jay, I'm sorry I crapped up the sightings page. I might be able to save it. I saved the page before I edited it, like I always do. I think I can copy everything on that page I saved and paste it over the text I crapped up. It's risky, but it's worth a shot. unknown 3/22/05 10:01
- It has already been reverted. Thanks. -- Tom 12:19, 23 Mar 2005 (MST)
Labor Dabor modification
The reason "SPARE!" is a phrase instead of a word is because it has punctuation (the exclamation mark) as part of it. Words don't come with any punctuation attached to them, which is why I thought it should be referred to as a phrase as opposed to a word. Just for the sake of backing up my argument, I'd like to say that it IS possible for a phrase to consist of just one word.
That is to say, if it had just been "SPARE", then I would certainly agree with you that it was just a word. -- Whybrid 15:07, 7 Apr 2005 (MDT)
Pom Pom is a Player.
Much of the humor of Pom Pom revolves around the idea that he is a real ladies man. I feel very sure that this...
"*When Homestar says that some lady gave Pom Pom a hundred bucks, it is likely a reference to the house that was giving out change, as mentioned in The House that Gave Sucky Treats."
... is not correct. It has nothing to do with The House that Gave Sucky Treats
How would it be appropriate to say that one of Pom Pom's many "girlfriends" gave him money for some mysterious reason? The brothers Chaps are trying to be risqué here, but how much does hrwiki want the implications of their suggestiveness to be spelled out?
- Because Pom Pom's many girlfriends live on the Isle of Pom, of course! --Jay 14:20, 10 Apr 2005 (MDT)
Baleeted!
Thanks for detrolling my page! Aurora the Homestar Coder 19:33, 11 Apr 2005 (MDT)
- Anything for a beautiful woman!* --Jay 19:50, 11 Apr 2005 (MDT)
* - I don't know that you're beautiful, and even though all evidence seems to point that way, I don't even technically know that you're a woman. But you're a fellow HR Wikipedian with a lot of useful edits, and that's gotta count for something. :p
Oops!
Sorry. I thought benedetto was blenedetto. Wrong me bes = very yes.
Fun Fact Deletion
Comment: Take it easy on the 'fun fact deletion'. Someone thought it was worthwhile enough to type in. --R
- Please don't take it personally if I delete a Fun Fact. There are lots of reasons I might delete one.
- It's already on the page somewhere.
- It doesn't add anything to the article.
- It's outright wrong.
- It's currently on the STUFF page.
- I suspect it was a #2 that you're talking about. Believe me, I'm a lot less picky about what Fun Facts can stay than some users here - I don't think Trogga is happy unless he deletes fifty less-than-perfect facts a day, for instance. It's not meant as a personal insult if I delete a fact that you added - just be sure you're giving meaningful additions to the pages first. --Jay 06:24, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- PS. Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the STUFF page. --Jay 06:27, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Response
I can't control the dead links that appear in my posts. For some reason my home computer turns random words into dead links and mangles pages. I don't know what's causing it and neither does tech support. That's why I only use my laptop for Wiki submissions. If the dead links return please tell me because it means there’s something wrong with ‘top too.
- I would recommend downloading and running SpyBot and AdAware, if you haven't already. Aurora the Homestar Coder 18:18, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I added that note to your (The Pardack's) talk page before I knew that it was adware adding the links. As I have seen it from many other non-malicious users, I apologize for making it sound as though it was intentional. Anyway, one of the programs in Aurora's message should tell you what to do. --Jay 21:32, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Hi there Jay. Would you mind sharing your email address with me? Shoot one over to tom@hrwiki.org, and I'll explain everything. Thanks. -- Tom 02:14, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Sent. It's a fidnet.com address (but I'm not saying what the first part is here - call me paranoid.) --Jay 02:45, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Nomination
Just here to say "you're welcome" for nominating you for sysop, and telling you that I do believe fuly that you are the best candidate for the job. You're welcome! -- Posted by: -erson Talk 22:44, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Yeah, I intentionally made no edits to my own nomination (in case I said something dumb ;) but I really should have thanked you for your support. Thanks! May no spammer escape my wrath, no troll left unreverted. :p --Jay 22:49, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Speaking of which, you should have been on yesterday at about 10:00pm. There were two major trolls messing up every page they could find. I was the only one on revertign them, I was completely busy for a half hour when Dr.Haggis came on and blocked them. I really needed some help! Oh well, its past now. -- Posted by: -erson Talk 22:52, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I was at work around that time last night (assuming you're relatively close to my time zone). Wiki screening and editing is a hobby of mine, but it doesn't pay the bills. ;) --Jay 22:55, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Auto Email Confirmation
Thanks, it's good to have a resident historian within our midst. I myself was only introduced to H*R late August 2003, so I've always been interested in the history of its changes over the years, since I've missed out on so much. But thank you for the confirmation, good to know it wasn't just some phony's made up message. (Oh, and btw, my website source is the same one I used for H*R updates 2003, '02, and '01. It's pretty accurate, so I've trusted most everything said on it). ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 03:04, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, and according to the page, the GIF of the mouse on Strong Bad's Website is the gateway to this short. But I guess, like The Secrets That I Keep, this was also origionally the automated e-mail egg, later stuck somewhere else on the site. Thanks alot man, that was really bugging me. (Oh, and thanks for adding the Fun Fact to the Page). ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 03:23, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Sysop
Just letting you know, you have been given sysop privileges. If you have any questions, never hesitate to ask. Thanks. -- Tom 00:32, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Congratulations man, you deserve it! I guess that means you outrank me now, eh... Sir? EDIT: Yea, just slightly. It was a way of covering my severe dissapointment. Read about my story of what happened on my talk page... And I still outrank you by about three months. :-P ⇔Thunderbird⇔ 00:48, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
