I have some problems with this. Overall, it's a pretty goofy welcome message. This would be good, but I don't think it would get that warm welcoming feeling to the new user. Also, the "could get you closer to being a sysop" remark is bad, as a proper user doesn't aim for sysophood, but rather contributing to main namespace articles. Also, the whole striked through, underlined etc. ruins the whole "be bold" thing. We don't mean bold as in bold text, but rather to not be afraid or intimidated of major editing.
