The user name users choose for themselves is no longer set in stone. On request, bureaucrats can change user account settings and article histories such that all previous edits of a given user are attributed to the new name using Special:Renameuser. Note: You must make the request from the account you want renamed; anonymous requests (except users whose usernames begin with a lowercase letter and therefore cannot log in) are ignored for security reasons.

Requesting a change

To change your user name, please make your request on this page. Please follow the procedure carefully or your request will not be fulfilled.

Instructions

1. Check if the new name you want does not exist (Special:Listusers). Do not create an account under the new name. (If you already created the new account, don't worry. We can do some stuff and fix it, but it's still recommended that you don't.)
2. Sign in with the account that you want renamed.

   Of course, this is not possible if your account has a lowercase first letter. If you can't log in, then skip this step.

3. Add your request to the bottom of the section below.
4. If you are a sysop, please note this fact with your request so that the necessary changes can be made.
5. Once your request is dealt with, all edits from your old account will be reattributed to your new account.
6. You should check that the old account has been recreated and blocked to prevent someone else creating the account and impersonating you.

   This cannot be done in the case of usernames with a lowercase first letter, but they can no longer be registered so this isn't a problem.

7. Move and redirect your user page and talk page to the new name if it has not already been done.

Change to "TotalSpaceshipGuy3" on the Wiki Forum. Username was changed for Christmas a year ago, and was never changed back. Username changing not allowed on the forum now. Thanks much. --TotalSpaceshipGirl3 18:07, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

You only have an account at the forum, and you will need a separate account for the wiki. Simply register as a new user called "Longo2guns". Loafing 23:19, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

Bijounena

I'd like it changed to Sum 14 on the Knowledge Base, The Fanstuff, and Forum. I think Bijounena sounds to girly and some people think it has to do with Hamtaro.

Just keep it as Stotheb, with the uppercase letter. That's my name on the Fanstuff Wiki. My old username is gone, so I have to use my IP adress.
