Category talk:Recurring Themes
From Homestar Runner Wiki
Before we add any more articles we need to define a scope. Which recurring themes are worth writing about? Bad Bad Guy 19:51, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
- Here is what I think is the best way to distinguish between Recurring Themes and Running Gags. Running gags are things that are only true for Homestar Runner. The Cheat's head exploding, Deleted, and so on. Recurring themes are elements that appear in many of the toons in a similar way, though not refer to each other in particular, like blood, explosions, bread and so on. What we now call "general list"s is better suited as a recurring theme. Some article's inclusion could be discussed on a case to case basis, but this is my general idea. I also refer you to the following discussions where the definition of running gags and inside jokes was discussed:
- Category talk:Running Gags#Sub-categorization
- Talk:Inside Jokes#Definition
- HRWiki:Running gag
- HRWiki talk:Running gag
- I know there was a main page talk discussion as well, but I just can't find it in the archives. Oh well.
I know it's kinda a lot to read, but It's important that we be on the same page while discussing this. — Elcool (talk)(contribs) 09:06, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
- If someone tries to write a new article about a recurring theme, how would we decide whether or not to delete it? Bad Bad Guy 02:10, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- I don't see that being much different from the way we already decide all those previous ones. Is it notable enough? Does it occur X0 times? Is it used in unusual ways in at least several of those occurances? Just coz a category changes, I don't see why content or procedure would. --DorianGray 03:48, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
