Flaming Glorbes!

Seinfeld is a popular sitcom that originally aired from 1989 to 1998. Created by comedians Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, the show centered on a fictionalized version of Seinfeld and his friend group in New York City. The show, often regarded as one of the greatest and most popular of its kind, is known for its quirky humor based on the hilarious situations the neurotic characters find themselves in. The show has been referenced several times in the cartoon.

[edit] Appearances

  • Hairstyle Runner — An entry on the gallery is captioned "David putty is the tick". This refers to actor Patrick Warburton, who portrayed David Puddy in Seinfeld and the title character in The Tick (a superhero with antennae similar to the illustrated hairstyle).
  • Club Aquatica Interview - 29 Oct 2003Matt Chapman mentions that he and his brother watch a lot of Seinfeld, alongside The Simpsons and Friends.
  • King Dingo — The plot of the game references the highly publicized 1980 disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain in Australia. The incident was later lampooned on Seinfeld episode "The Stranded", which referenced the popular phrase "A dingo ate my baby!"
  • Email pizzaz — Strong Bad dressing up as a captain for an interview is somewhat similar to "The Puffy Shirt", an episode in which a frustrated Jerry is obliged to wear an ostentatious shirt for an interview that makes him look like a pirate, a fact that his interviewer brings up many times.
  • Bug In Mouth DiseaseHomestar Runner overreacting over swallowing a bug is similar to a gag in "The Ex-Girlfriend", in which George accidentally swallows a fly while eating and panics about "what can happen".
  • Family Resemblence — The logo for Jurvy-Skat resembles that of the logo of the show, red text over a gold oval.
  • Email theme song — Strong Bad in front of the side brick wall of Bubs' Concession Stand during the closing credits refers to how Seinfeld episodes were frequently bookended by filmed segments of Jerry Seinfeld performing stand-up comedy onstage. An early idea for Seinfeld was that the show would explore where a comedian gets his material, similar to the onscreen credit "based on the comedy stylings of Little Strong Bad".
  • Later That Night...
    • Homestar misidentifies Strong Mad's costume as "the door from Seinfeld". His costume was actually from Friends, which Coach Z points out also originally aired on Thursday nights (and also on NBC).
    • Homestar and Strong Sad reenact George calling Jerry to get buzzed in to his apartment, a common recurring scene in Seinfeld.
    • The Poopsmith's costume "Flaming Globes of Sigmund" is a reference to fictional sci-fi B-movie The Flaming Globes of Sigmund seen in the episode "The Heart Attack". A brief scene of the movie is shown, where a man (played by series co-creator Larry David) is seen maniacally screaming that the burning planets look "like flaming globes" — as quoted by Coach Z.
