[edit] The Other Incredible Hulk

At the end of the email when Strong Bad says "Take your vitamins, pretend you're hilarious, and always, always, e-mail Strong Bad." is a parody of the way Hulk Hogan used to tell fans to "train, say your prayers, and take your vitamins" in the '80s.

Arguments for:

  • This, to a T, is almost exactly like Hogan's. And who else said something similar?

Arguments against:

  • Many other celebrities have said similar things.
  • Seems to be a stretch of logic.
  • Close, but not close enough.

Additional comments:

  • It's not an uncommon phrase. Google found it 112,000 times [1] in total, and 107,000 times for pages without the string "Hulk Hogan" [2].
  • Spider-man was talking about vitamins on occasion as early as the 60's or 70's
  • Re the Google search: I'm willing to bet that maybe 10 or 15 of those had any sort of reference to what was said. Searches are VERY unreliable, and usually give anything that has one of the words in it in the search. Therefore, the search is invalid, IMO.
    • The search had the phrase in quotes, so each page would have had to contain the entire phrase. And even if 10 or 15 of the pages had reference to a similar phrase said by someone other than Hulk Hogan, it still makes it clear that it's not necessarily a reference to the Hulkster.
      • I don't buy that one bit. First of all, this is a reference. No matter what. Second of all, I've conducted many a search where I put the topic in quotes, and didn't get anywhere near what I was looking for. That doesn't make this search any more valid.
        • While I still think you're pushing the certainty of the reference a little too far, I will concede that I've searched rather extensively and have failed to find a similar phrase except some said by other wrestlers (which are quite obviously parodies of Hulk Hogan's original). The vast majority of the Google quotes do indeed seem to simply be medical sites saying "take your vitamins" and the like.
          • This wouldn't be the first extremely marginal and obscure reference to 80's wrestling. Mike Chapman later (or earlier) attributes a particularly obscure reference to watching wrestling as a kid. I think it would be acceptable to admit the possibility of a connection between the two.
            • Yes, of course it's possible. But it's also posssible that they meant it as a reference to some health guy. And it's also possible that it's no reference to anything specific at all. Unless we're reasonably certain what this references, this is TTATOT.
              • No, it isn't. Wake up.
