MediaWiki talk:Header-sandbox

- I noticed that on a discussion page, (I wish I could remember which one), one or two users were confused by the <!--You will get blocked from editing if you remove this line!-->.
- They seemed to think it was the warning text, not the template, that would get them blocked.
- Perhaps we could use the idea on the Introduction, where the actuall template is called Template:Please leave this line alone. That way, when they want the template to appear, they type {{Please leave this line alone}}, making it so users aren't confused.
- We could move this template to something like Template:You will get blocked if you edit this line!
- That would make users less confused. — talk Bubsty edits 01:43, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
- I know what you said. I am also aware of the discussion. One user asked a question about it and their question was answered. It's not a problem. -- Tom 01:55, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
I came up with a different approach. I moved the instructions to the MediaWiki namespace and hard-coded them into the page, so there won't be any problems with it being deleted. I will look into doing the same for the introduction page. — It's dot com 20:12, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
Question: Should the sandbox message have a shortcut template? --Stux 19:32, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see why it would need one. -- Tom 20:24, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Meaning, of course, that the sandbox message (MediaWiki:Sandbox) doesn't need a shortcut. The sandbox itself probably could use one (which would go on this template, yes). -- Tom 20:28, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Er... what he said. I added a shortcut box. It had to be subst'd, because the MediaWiki message doesn't transclude templates in the same way regular pages do. — It's dot com 20:35, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah Tom, that's exactly what I meant. I guess I should've been more specific in my statement (as in "should the sandbox message have a shortcut template to the sandbox") :). Anyway, so Dot com, how does the Mediawiki message transclude templates (if at all)? Did it simply copy the template text? --Stux 03:46, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
